It's fine. The animation looks great. The story is exactly what you expect.
This film is so adorable. The dogs in it are really cute, and I love the fact that they trained rescue dogs to play the roles. It's a bit jarring seeing no reference to racism in the 1910s period setting though. They could have done something very interesting there, given that Lady's owners are a mixed race couple. And speaking of her owners, once they have the baby they kind of overplay their negligence towards her. I mean they don't even take the poor dog for a walk!
I know they make a point in the screenplay of them apologising to Lady for their poor post-baby treatment, but it still doesn't sit right for me. Especially when the story ends with them adopting Tramp. This couple are clearly not fit to own a dog.
Overall though, it's a fun addition to the Disney Plus exclusive content and definitely one you should watch if you're a dog lover like me.
It was a great movie. It should have been released theatrically.
A classic is always a classic, watched the original first time 20 years ago was so good to view the new one
A fun and light-hearted reimagining with convincing and cute dogs that doesn't recapture the magic of the original. Great CGI work too.
Makes me want a cocker spaniel and I love the diversity in the cast.
Great remake and glad to see it give opportunities to other actors who are not white for this rendition.
My Score 7/10.
Sam Elliott as Trusty was the best part of this adorable live action remake of an animated Disney classic. The animated Lady and the Tramp has been a lifelong favorite movie of mine, and I wasn’t too sure about this one doing it any justice or feeling at all absorbed in it (because of the whole real animals “speaking” aspect. But the effects were well done, all of the actors were well cast, and my dog loving 7-year old loved watching the dogs be cute, especially parts with puppies. Unlike numerous other kid’s movies that shall remain unnamed here, I would have no issue watching this again if my kiddo wanted more cute puppy movie time. Solid 7 (Good) rating from me!
I kinda loved it better than the original! Glad that they changed the cats from that weird asian stereotype and loved seeing POC in it - contrary to a comment I've seen here, I don't think they should've done anything about racism just because they were a mixed couple in the 1920's or something. I'm not a POC but as I've read a black person say once, sometimes it's nice to just see POC without having a racism storyline to it. We have plenty of films about that, POC need films where their tragedies aren't glorified and it was so sweet seeing that mixed couple just being and other POC in the movie. Anyways, absolutely loved it!
You've seen it all before - literally, its the same film as the animated original. Still, if you liked that you might like this, though like many of the recent Disney remakes, it will never be considered a classic.
I loved the original and I loved this version.... it’s the story.... so sweet...
Needless? Yes. Enjoyable? Also, yes.
I'm not entirely sure 'Lady and the Tramp' was a film that needed remaking but here we are. This 2019 production is solid. I like the way it is shot and brought to life. It's rewritten in a few parts, to mostly positive effect - though the original film is still, by a fair distance, best.
I wouldn't say the cast are anything exceptional but they do what's needed. Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux give good performances as Lady and Tramp respectively, while Adrian Martinez's Elliot is probably the character I'll remember most - away from the two dogs, of course. Janelle Monáe, Sam Elliott and Yvette Nicole Brown are decent too; even if it is difficult to picture the latter as a baddie.
They get rid of the "The Siamese Cat Song", though the replacement tune is actually fairly good. The other songs, like "La La Lu", remain but are obviously tinkered. The run time is longer, which I don't think was nessacary but they fill it well enough.
Solid attempt.
What a weird patchwork of present-day dialogue, woke washery, soulless overly detailed CGI, and actual keepsakes from the 1955 title, leaving the film with no cultural identity. The depicted society is incongruous with the depicted setting, and all heart was squeezed out of the narrative with what seems like an attempt to offend the least amount of people. Scenes that had a strong emotional impact on the viewer in the original (e.g. Lady's muzzle panic, or Tramp outpacing her while she gets seized by the dogcatcher and impounded) have been reduced to something yawn worthy. Interactions are bland, the chemistry between the characters is flimsy and everything that felt earned in the original feels contrived here. It's clear Disney are on a mission to pad their streaming service with pointless trash sparing none of the old classics.
Some nice upgrades but I still cant understand the need to race swap and gender switch cast just to appease the snowflake generation. Leave things alone! Graphically its done really well and some nice nods to the original. A lot of Disneys live actions are pointless and unnecessary. Leave the classics alone and work on new material.
Another Disney live-action remake that I enjoyed probably more than others. This was a simple story retold in a live-action setting, and I really enjoyed watching it.
this movie doesn't seem real. I don't know anyone who watched it or knows it exists. I have never even seen a post about it on social media. Maybe one day I will watch it for disney completionism.
Every 10 minutes I cried, I also sleep with a dog (my daughter) just like in the movie, everything is very beautiful, a movie without defects!
Good Live Action remake of an old Disney Classic. I actually put off watching this movie for a while because I didn't want it to disappoint I had been watching the big films, Aladdin; Lion King; Beauty and The Beast, and I just didn't think this movie would be able to match the excitement of those for me I regret not watching it sooner it def could have held its own with a theater release.
Perfectly charming movie with adorable scenes and the real dog that plays Lady is the cutest thing. The Bella Notte scene is the best here with Tony being a great role. The rest of the movie doesn't add much to the original animated version and after Lady returns home from the dog pound the movie kinda goes downhill and becomes generic.
rewatched it, and I find it better the second time I watched it. Now, I kinda want to watch the animated version again.
Really nice movie with a great message.
Cute but unnecessary like most of the Disney live action remakes. They can’t think of original ideas to be diverse. So they give us pretty much the same movie as the animated film but with diversity.
The result is the same either way, especially with The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.
It’s not really not much of a surprise Lady and the Tramp wasn’t released in theaters though.
I hate the CGI - it makes the dogs look like toys, or like they're characters in an animated Wes Anderson movie - but the original story is so compelling that it barely matters (except for the fact that I'll stick with the original animated film for all future rewatches, thank you very much).

Perfectly acceptable live action remake tat isn't as soul-killing as Lion King nor as hopelessly banal as Dumbo. The movements of the mouths didn't put me off as I've seen far worse in the sub-genre of talking dog cgi cinema. Sincerely no clue why it's getting so much hate.
