Lady in White 1988

In a way, "Lady In White" reminded me of "The Sixth Sense". I'm sure it's mostly because little Frankie (Lucas Haas) sees dead people, but also because he becomes a bit of an investigator, too.

This isn't really scary, it's just atmospheric and involves you emotionally with Frankie and the ghostly little girl. It has an overwhelming small town feel to it. The characters are bound together by the rural setting and the closeness of family. The sense of dread when Frankie encounters the crazy old candle-burning woman is well done.

There is no gore or blood to be found and the special effects are definitely not special, but the mood and spirit of the setting and the plight of Frankie more than make up for it.

Weak little ghost tale, for me at least. Maybe if I'd seen this as a kid, it would've had more of an effect... It's not poorly made or anything, just didn't connect with me.

Tries to bite off wayyyy more than it can chew. Not a bad movie, but could've done with a more focused script, for sure.
