Lilo & Stitch 2002

It's sandwich day. Every Thursday I take Pudge the fish a peanut butter sandwich... And today we were out of peanut butter. So I asked my sister what to give him, and she said 'a tuna sandwich'. I can't give Pudge tuna! Do you know what tuna :asterisk_symbol:is:asterisk_symbol:? It's fish! If I give Pudge tuna, I'd be an abomination! I'm late because I had to go to the store and get peanut butter 'cause all we have is... is... stinkin' tuna!

Pudge controls the weather.

It's probably weird that I think about this movie probably on a daily basis. I make references to it AND NOBODY KNOWS! This movie is my own personal inside joke :D I love it so much!

One of Disney's strongest films, and the alien stuff isn't there just because

Cute film.

'Lilo & Stitch' is a short and straightforward production, but that doesn't stop it leaving a charming and hearty impression. It's actually rather impressive in that regard, you can't help but feel attached to the main characters.

Daveigh Chase (Lilo), Tia Carrere (Nani), David Ogden Stiers (Jumba), Kevin McDonald (Pleakley) and, obviously, Chris Sanders (Stitch) are very good. I love their respective voices. Even some of the minor characters, like Zoe Caldwell (Councilwoman), Kevin Michael Richardson (Capt. Gantu) and Ving Rhames (Bubbles), are memorable too. A real cool set.

Animation-wise it isn't actually sensational, undoubtedly pleasant, but not out of this world or anything. As for the music, who knew Elvis Presley's discography would fit so well? An inspired choice, it must be said.

Not at the top of my list of Disney animated films, but it's certainly in the 'best of the rest' bracket. You should definitely watch this, if you haven't already.

If you don't cry with this movie, you're heartless! It's one of my favorites.

I've always loved this movie, but something that shot it up to a 10 for me this rewatch and made it a new comfort movie for me, is realizing how OBVIOUSLY AUTISTIC Lilo is.
1. Special interest 1: photographing overweight tourists and making a collage with the photos
2. Special interest 2: Elvis (she uses Elvis to cope with RSD as well)
3. Routine: Feeding a specific fish a peanut butter sandwhich once a week, and she is very upset if this routine is disturbed
4. Stimming motions with hands, forthright speaking tone, some literal thinking
5. Rejection by peers who find her strange, tries to include her strange homemade doll with a socially unacceptable backstory in the girls playing with "normal" dolls

I relate to Lilo so much now. And that makes this movie come through for me.

Stitch is still likely my all time favorite Disney character and this movie is where it kicked it all off! While not the greatest, it still has a bunch of charm and humor and really holds up twenty years later!

Rating: 4/5 - 8.5/10 - Would Recommend

Very weak plot, put up through the very forced device of the aliens, as well as more absurd passages, and as usual for the modern-day Disney, full of the annoying American moralism. Of the few children that were in the cinema screen, they all left mid-film. Not surprised at all that Spirited Away got a lot more success that same year.

Lilo was annoying in the beginning. Would trade her for 100 Stitches lol.

The logic is disappointing, but the strong family values make up for it

A good heartfelt family story with an alien twist. I liked the mix of Hawaiian music and Elvis.
