Looney Tunes: Back in Action 2003

The unappreciated middle child between Space Jam and A New Legacy, Back in Action is easily the best of the three. The best gags- the Louvre is a particular standout. The best setting: the Looney Tunes as celebrities is far more natural than them as digital IP or beings from the center of the earth that are also on TV(???). The best live action cast: Brendan Fraser and Steve Martin are better actors than Michael Jordan and LeBron James, who knew. And where Space Jam underutilized the duo and A New Legacy sidelined them altogether, this one has Bugs and Daffy as the centerpiece. With arcs and everything! Listen, I admit I may be biased because Bugs and Daffy argue the whole film like an old married couple. But this is the only one of the three that feels like a Looney Tunes movie first and foremost, and I'd take that over them any day.

The Looney Tunes make their triumphant return to the big screen with Back in Action, a hilarious romp full of laughs. Directed by Joe Dante, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck stumble upon a nefarious plot by Acme to steal the Blue Monkey Diamond in a quest for world domination. Starring Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, Timothy Dalton, and Steve Martin, the film has a solid cast with a lot of comedic talent. And, the Looney Tunes characters are used especially well; with each getting a moment to shine. Delivering their classic comedy stylings, Looney Tunes: Back in Action is terrifically entertaining and tons of fun.

This sure is better than SPACE JAM! Despite Martin's ridiculous villain character, this is a great mix of live action and the classic Warner characters. Unlike JAM, the characters act like they do in the classic cartoons and the animation is just wonderful. Worth seeing...even without any kids around.

This is just a worse Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Not too bad, not too good, but the real point of this movie is how cartoon characters interact with the real world, still keeping their weird laws of physics or the ability to get hit by a giant rock and be still alive.

So is this cannon with 'Space Jam'?

Because this is a forgettable messy classic.

It’s no Roger Rabbit. There’s way worse movies that mix animation with live action though. Like, Cool World. This movie is occasionally fun and faithful to Looney Tunes.
Steve Martin is annoying as the villain though.

Grown up with this movie, so great to watch it again and bask in it's greatness.

It's an uninspired mashup, the kind that this era was famous for, especially in kids movies. Still though, it's fun enough and the kids should love it. There's some great, classic Looney Toons gags throughout. Love all the throwbacks and cameos in it, they were lots of fun.
