In a small Taiwanese village surrounded by charming scenery, the kind middle-aged storeowner A-mien welcomes people, especially children at the tiny grocery store she runs. One day, Midori encounters a handsome Chinese-American missionary named Jimmy on his way back to the village. A-mien asks him to teach her English. But on Christmas Eve, A-mien sits alone at the church and confesses to God that she is sinful of something that she has kept in secret for more than thirty years. LOVE IS SIN is a sweet haunting tale about human redemption. The glowing light that fills up each frame along with a breathtaking backdrop of the countryside in Taiwan adds to the film’s tenderness.
