Love the Coopers 2015

What a strange film, it was lovely at times, and also depressing, guess that's Christmas sometimes. I enjoyed it, and I have soft spot when it comes to heartwarming films so it made me tearful in parts. I'm glad it ended in the way it did, It really makes you think what you have in life, and what's really in front of you. I liked the narrator twist even that someone was going through something... giggle

I don't know why, but this is a Christmas movie I actually like. Maybe it's because there are plenty of close-ups of Olivia Wilde's beautiful face in it, or Alan Arkin, John Goodman and (not enough of) Marisa Tomei.. I just like it.

Things I liked the most:
- The storyline of Eleanor (Olivia Wilde) and Joe (Jake Lacy)
- Bucky's (Alan Arkin) grandfatherly conversation with Hank (Ed Helms) in the Poinsettia greenhouse
- The soundtrack (Honorable mention: "Soul Cake" by Sting)
- That little montage of all the mistletoe kisses the shopping mall cop remembered
- You are such a jerk!
- Real snow!

Some things that irritated me:
- Alan Arkin as Diane Keaton's father because they are only twelve years apart
- Young Charlotte (Diane Keaton) and Emma (Marisa Tomei) looked like eight years apart and not eigh_teen_
- Honestly, I'm concerned about all the food that dog ate..

After seeing the pretty great ensemble cast I thought, "why don't more people talk about this?" now I know. This feels like This Is Us in all the worse possible ways.

Sentimental and gushy but it does have its moments. A great cast lifts the Christmas spirit.

Pretty dark and depressing. not at all how the trailer made it look. Very disappointed.

While not as lighthearted as the trailer made it seem, it was still a pretty good story about how all stages of life can be and also change.

Pretty decent holiday family ensemble dramedy, but not at all a "comedy" like the trailer led me to believe.

Second time watching this. I REALLY enjoyed it. It has that magical feel, with the interlocking stories that I like and has a real spirit to it without being corny. It's kinda realistic - everyone has their issues. Lovely cinematography.

I loved Ruby and Bucky's interactions in the cafe. And nice narrator!

Nah, F**k the Coopers.

Featuring an all-star cast that includes John Goodman, Diane Keaton, Ed Helms, Olivia Wilde, Amanda Seyfriend, and Steve Martin, Love the Coopers is a holiday treat. When they come together for an old fashioned, traditional Christmas the Cooper’s facade as a perfect, loving family starts to crack. The storytelling is pretty good considering the size of the cast and the number of plot-lines that intertwine. However, most of them are formulaic and clichéd; a father hiding his unemployment, parents covering up their separation, a daughter pretending to be in a relationship to please her mother, etc., etc. And the comedy is rather tame. Yet despite its problems, Love the Coopers is an enjoyable family comedy.

Not at all what I was expecting. The most depressing christmas movie I have ever watched. The trailer sold a totally different film...

This is not a comedy don't be fooled by the trailer. It is a soft drama with many stories as always come together in Christmas. It is of what you expect from a formula like that.
