Lust for a Vampire 1971

I didn't think I was going to enjoy watching this but it turned out to be a decent traditional vampire story. The movie starts out well and there is just enough going on throughout to keep it from dragging. The acting is a little over-the-top dramatically, but old school vampire flicks almost always are. There's nothing new to find anywhere here but it's a good movie.

Lust for a Vampire is loosely based on the OG herself, Carmilla. However, the adaptation starts and stops with the name of the character alone; aside from that, it's just a bunch of girls at a school.
The story is very convoluted. What should be a simple, Hammer-made story about a vampire biting hot, young girls, spends too much time on the fallout from the deaths, and a pointless "love story" between Carmilla, and a teacher - that is a teacher "falls in love with her," after only knowing her a day, and she wants nothing to do with her... so romantic.
Really, how does Hammer make a female vampire movie, with lesbians, and boobs, boring?
The Count Karnstein character - who looked like Christopher Lee playing Anton Lavey - didn't make much sense for the story; like, why would a vampire have to use black magic to reincarnate a vampire? This felt like the entire first act was lopped off.
Anyway, pretty pitiful for a Hammer release. Worth at least one watch.
