Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Three 2014

A little more conflict and melancholy to this one. Slate brings real emotion to the end song, and shines with not only the jokes but lines like “No. But it looks like I might.” I’m very interested in where this adorable and charming shell goes in a feature length story.

[YouTube] Albeit casually (the house door was closed when Marcel went out), the character goes outside for the first time, anticipating his larger exit in the next film. This trilogy finale is more fun by focusing on the possibility of a shell being allergic to plants, or settling into its shell by burrowing into the ground. And there is a better proximity to the director, a presence that becomes family for Marcel.
