Gareth Evans' draft for the legendary The Raid films. Also Iko Uwais and Yayan "Mad Dog" Ruhian's first role. Not even close to the level of The Raid but it was still a decent watch. Everything is dialed down but the choreography is good and the action scenes are exciting but they lack a bit of spice, it's mostly hand-to-hand with nothing special except a metal rod once in a while. Still entertaining nonetheless. Off to a slow start but it kept me interested throughout. The poverty theme hit hard but everything else was a failure on an emotional level. The final fight is the most memorable part, liked the orange lighting and the location. The villains were kinda weird but easily hateable so they do the job—Iko kicking ass never gets old.

The Raid's sequels are way better than this movie. I really love the fight scenes but the plot are bit bored. Watched this only because of Iko and Yayan plus the fight scene.
