This is marvellous! Awesome! Brilliant! 11/10!
What a great movie this is. Awesome animation
The start was good. The buildup was good. But it looked like they rushed the ending. They could show a little more about Luna.
I’m a bit out of the loop when it comes to current anime, but whenever i see the Studio 4°C logo crop up somewhere, i’m naturally interested. This french-japanese co-production is quite a dud, sadly. While the whole thing looks exactly as gorgeous as you’d expect of the °4C crew, a general plot is amost nonexistant, the characters as run-of-the-mill as it gets. Basically this film plays out as an endless succession of action setpieces and tired gangsta-town clichés. Most of all this film lacks any kind of emotional core. Such a horrible waste of talent…
Absolut geiler Film! Awesome movie!
Artistically brilliant and narratively flawed, this film is somewhat a hidden gem, and somewhat horrible. This is a beautiful movie, the grungey nature that surrounds every frame is amazing and I loved every second of it. Its environments are dazzling to look at, and the character designs are (for the most part) gorgeous.
Our main protagonist here, Lino, is a lowlife who finds no value with himself or the others who he keeps by his side. No faith, nor hopes for the future. Then we get the love at first sight thing. It hits and ends as soon as it comes. With no build or visual queues to help the viewer distinguish Lino's feelings afterwards. Sure, during this scene it is there. But leaves no impact aside for her to be convenient later on. Besides this, Lino himself is a wonderful character, he's grim, has a good personality that fits, and has a surprising story to tell. He works well in the world he is placed in, surreal and grittily wacky. His friend Vinz, has a remarkable talent for being too damn likeable. So much so that they ruined the ending by adding one last scene in. Their friendship is gold, and the chemistry really works. Willy is just a plot device, nothing more.
The sound design was both great and bad. While the orchestral soundtrack wasn't bad, the songs provided by The Toxic Avenger were meant to be the standout ones here. The song that was featured in the car chase was good and atmospheric. But, the song that played during an action scene did not work well at all and would have been better with no music, or at least some reverb or extra instrumentation. The sound effects I thought were lacking throughout the film, nothing felt right when a certain sound was queued by what you were seeing. Leaving some parts feeling empty. Voice acting, however (for the French dub), was very good.
Overall MFKZ (Mutafukaz) has a superb sense of animation and world design. As well as friendship drama mixed in with cool ideas for the plot. It adds up to be overly contrived in most cases but, has a strong heart and warmth to the characters and their own stories.
5.8/10
I'm not gonna lie, I fell asleep in the middle of it, though I'm not quite sure why. Regardless, I can definitely say the beginning and the end had some interesting animation, yet it seemed to have a muddied filter on it that dulled the colour tragically. The action was plentiful, but a tad slapdash...or perhaps that's just because I missed the middle.

MFKZ is a really beautiful movie. I was looking forward to watch this, since I noticed the trailer for the first time, a couple of months ago. Visually impressive, I really loved the style that it is so unique and the animation overall is stunning. I have appreciated action sequences and the soundtrack that was always matching perfectly with every shot. The main characters are Angelino, Vince and Willy, a group of three friends, that one day have to face a serious menace for their life, they will discover a terrible mystery and they need to save the world from an invasion, before it is too late.
I really wish that we can have more of this kind of products and that they can be advertised a little bit better, in this way more people can actually watch something different. The ending leave things open, so I really hope to see sooner or later a sequel.
