Miracle 2004

Sports evokes feelings, and none evokes more feelings than a good underdog story. Miracle is such a story, and a true one at that...

No matter if you are into hockey, no matter if you are an American, no matter even if you are from the old Soviet Union. This story is great!! And it is told in such a way that you have no choice but to believe in miracles... at least for the runtime of this film. Good job, Gavin O’Connor! You've made a sports film that I don't mind rewatching again, and again.

Great movie about what might be the greatest sports moment ever. A lot of that, of course, is due to the political landscape and the extreme disparity in the perception of the quality of the teams. Russia probably was the better team, but they found a way to win. The movie is so good...but with the result known throughout and the grueling nature of the training depicted, I won't be returning to this film soon, otherwise, it would probably be a 10.

"I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time."

A little hard to not know how it ends with the name like Miracle and a movie cover like that, but Kurt Russell always makes it worth it. It is very on brand with Disney sport movies but can't help but feel good with it and the coach dedication at the end.

Best sports movie ever!!! Hands done, without exception, unreservedly the only sports movie I’ll watch every year and never grow tired of. It somehow makes me patriotic and root against mother Russia. The laughter next to me makes me continue writing more outlandishly about how great this movie is… but seriously, never to be topped.

A pretty lengthy movie that doesn't feel dragged out at all. The main plot points were very well portrayed in this emotional true sports hero story, told by the best in the industry, Disney. This film draws out every key that it takes for an entertaining sports drama tear jerker that lifts the spirits of the viewer with "hope." Overall just a great coming of age story about the 1980 US hockey team that consists of college players put together last minute by one of the best college coaches and trained very hard and in an unconventional way to defeat the then best team in the world as the biggest underdogs.

I do love a sports drama, which is fortunate as Disney sure do a lot of them!

'Miracle' is very good, as it details the events of the 1980 Winter Olympics between the hockey teams of the US and the USSR. The constant connections to world events can feel a little forced in parts, but I entirely get what they were going for - it doesn't hamper things at all, anyway.

Kurt Russell is superb as Herb Brooks, he's far and away the best and most interesting character/actor onscreen. Russell nails the role. Elsewhere, Noah Emmerich does a solid job, as do those who portray the players - even if none of them stick in my memory much.

The score is strong, as are most things about this film. It probably goes on for a tad too long, they could've cut thirty minutes without losing anything major. It doesn't drag though, to its credit.

In conclusion, this 2004 production is 100% worth a watch.
