Felt like the most movie-movie ever. Too many plot conveniences, too much was predictable, too much was outlandish. And the movie tried to be too serious about it all.

Plot was easy to grasp and not confusing. Also the AI fear mongering was funny. Especially the growling noise they gave it.

loading replies

I am a fan of the series, but honestly, I didn't like this one much. There are no big, elaborate grand missions like in previous ones, no spy moments. The AI thing is laughably bad; they have the looming danger of an AI taking over all digital electronics, yet Benji was using a driverless car and GPS to track Ethan down, even during the final train arc. Elsa had to die without any reason, and there is no explanation for Grace's existence, except to be taken as a hostage at some point so Ethan can save her by giving back the Key to the bad guys in the next part. If you actually want to see an 'AI gone full God mod,' go watch 'Person of Interest'.

loading replies

Hilariously terrible dialogue, infinite plot holes, macguffins and continuity errors. But that’s not what people watch this for anyway. Good action, a tad overlong. Go in knowing what you are getting into and it will be fun.

loading replies

I haven't seen the previous films, so it was relatively difficult for me to piece together who's who, but it was still enjoyable for me. We saw the beginning of a big whole that gripped the viewer all along, but I really, I can't want to see the next half!

loading replies

nice action and fight scenes but the story/premise is more convoluted than ever

loading replies

Well, it was definitely a Tom Cruise movie. Good action and a decently engaging plot but nothing that stood out really. Still, I had fun watching it in the big screen. It was very theatrical

loading replies

The insanely long runtime and the fact it don’t have and end I can’t give it full marks but damn this was a great movie.

loading replies

This is another Mission Impossible movie, and by that I mean if you enjoyed the last 3-4 MI movies you should enjoy this. However, if you didn't like those, this one is not doing anything that will win you over.

I've enjoyed the majority of the MI series, and this one was more of that. Great cast, both legacy and new, great action set pieces, and great visuals with the only real negatives for me being the runtime being 20 minutes too long, although I've spoken to others who didn't feel that so your individual feelings might vary on that point and the actual "Villian/antagonist premise" didn't quite work for me.

I've always had no issue with the suspension of disbelief for these movies in the past, but could not quite get there with this one. Could easily just be due to my own personal biases and background though, or maybe everything will make more sense/work in Part Two.

But those two minor issues aside, it was an absolutely solid entry to the franchise and I'll be along to the cinema for Part Two when it releases.

loading replies

I guess I'm the target audience for this movie because I think it was an absolute masterclass in producing an enjoyable action movie. Cinematography was great, the story was paced extremely well, and the casting of ALL roles was absolutely perfect.

Cruise, Pegg and Rhames were awesome as always, Whigham and Davis were great additions, but the power quartet of Ferguson, Atwell, Klementieff and Kirby, really went above and beyond in making this movie perfect. Not to mention the chilling confidence of Morales as Gabriel, who practically oozed tangible danger.

From the pre-opening credits scene to the final act, you will be on the edge of your seat - especially during any fight scene that involves Ferguson or Klementieff - and whilst there are moments that the tempo slows down to advance the story, it is always completely captivating.

The single, solitary, disappointment comes as the credits roll, and you remember you're going to have to wait until next year to see how it ends.

loading replies

Incredible action sequences. Puts Indiana Jones to shame. Must see in theaters. Maybe twice.

loading replies

Tom cruise still solidified himself as the best action actor despite his age .. this movie was a thrill from beginning to end its unreal how they keep one upping themselves with these movies ngl … absolute must watch run to the movies right now .. yes you right now!!!!!

loading replies

The movie was fun but I get the feeling they dreamed up the stunt sequences and built the story around them. The script wasn't as tight as it could have been and the plotting was sometimes illogical. I can't fault Tom's commitment to entertaining us though, so kudos to his energy and acting talents.

loading replies

Hands down the worst Mission Impossible move of them all.

loading replies

Finally a movie that combines my favourite things; Subway Surfer, AI and a submarine voyage gone awry.

loading replies

The movie started awesome, but in the middle it went sideways for me. The intro and the premise were awesome, but somewhere around the meeting with Vanessa Kirby character it got predictable and everything was stretch too much. Even Ilsa dead was too stretched, predictable and not emotional. I like Rebecca Ferguson, I guess she opted out of the franchise. . Hayley Atwell was amazing in her role. Her character was well thought and I think there is future for her in Mission Impossible. There were some bending of physical laws and some little inconsistencies, but I guess I can live with that. Overall nice start, not so good ending. I hope the second part do better.

loading replies

Second watch... Same thoughts. Stilted. Overly long narrative scenes. Action sequences are devoid of much of their efficacy, along with obvious CG being a culprit to that.

loading replies

I’m exhausted but so happy. I’ve never gripped my seat so much. Bravo Tom!

loading replies

when I finally see the jump, I can't help but think: what other value does this add to the movie, other than to have something to do marketing on? i still don't have an answer for that.

loading replies

This was fantastic. Loved all the classic spy stuff in the first half, and also all the insane thrilling action in the second. The train set piece towards the end of the film is one of the best action set pieces I've ever seen. Nail biting stuff.

loading replies

If you're in computer science/AI/cyber security, warm your eyes up before watching this movie. There will be more eye-rolling than usual, by a large margin.

Grace was the most annoying thing in this movie... Also they needlessly killed Ilsa in a dumb way. I mean she had a sword and the guy had a knife, all she needed to do was keep her distance. And apparently the way to counter Ilsa's main climbing attack move is to just throw her off...

Ignoring those parts, this had really great action scenes and is still totally worth the watch just to see Tom Cruise run even more. Seriously though, the action was awesome.

loading replies

So bad. Stuff just randomly happens. It’s so boring. I don’t understand how this movie can be so bad after the last 3 ones that only got better.

IMHO only the last 30 minutes were truly gripping.

:heart:x7
The Mission Impossible train keeps on running. This is yet another good entry in the series. Although . . . maybe I'm getting MI fatigue or maybe it actually didn't quite measure up to previous entries. As I'm writing this I'm remembering that most of the movie was shot during the Pandemic which may have something to do with why I perceived this as a slightly lesser entry.

Looking forward to Part Two next year tho.

What's really scary though is that the movie was written in 2019 and is all about AI - and what has the tech world been discussing and fearing lately? AI!

I'm rambling - anyway - if you like the MI movies, you'll like this as well.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

loading replies

The best movie ever watched

loading replies

One of the best movies I've ever seen at the cinema, if not the best. Tom Cruise along with Hayley Atwell acted masterfully. I await the second part

loading replies

The worst part of this series that I have seen, there are too many conversations in this movie, and I see that they reach 75% of the parts of the movie.

I lost 3 hours of my life on a very very bad movie experience

If I watched it at home, I would have stopped the movie in the first hour and deleted it from my computer.

I advise anyone who sees my comment to review themselves before deciding to watch the movie in the cinema.

loading replies

Tom Cruise can run like nobody else.

loading replies

I thought it was pretty stretched for what it has to offer. But then this might be the end of the series, so I enjoyed the ride. I expected more action sequences throughout the duration of the movie, but most of the fun arrived later on. Hopefully part 2 will deliver.

loading replies

As long as the film is, it never felt like there was a single dull or throwaway moment. And that's an accomplishment.

My only real criticism is that, although hugely impactful for the story, yet another strong female character had to die in service of a male protagonist's story. And there was no real sense of closure for her story at all. However, I'm still holding out slight hope that it was a trick and she's not actually dead. It definitely wouldn't be the first time they've pulled that. My rating might change if that's the case.

loading replies

Make the film 15 minutes shorter and take out the pseudo-Eagle Eye AI and maybe it would be decent.

The tropes are tired, the stunts were just ok, everyone is afraid of an AI that somehow is terrifying yet doesn’t do anything the entire film. The fact that there’s supposed to be a part 2 to this is concerning. There wasn’t enough plot to sustain one full film.

loading replies

Action sequences were fun... Tom and Hayley were surprisingly good onscreen... only watched for tom cruise... story was dumb. Ghost Protocol still remains the best for me

loading replies

Saw it in 4DX, two old couples walked out during the cold open, left with a broken collarbone and a dislocated shoulder and high as fuck on cinema

loading replies

Movie kept me engaged. Action sequences were fun to watch, with characters holding the scenes.

Hayley Atwell was a great choice for the film, too

loading replies

It was very below my expectations, it’s not at the level of Tom Cruise movies in my opinion. Firstly, this isn’t a spy movie at all. It’s just a pure action movie and the story advances so slowly. There isn’t even spy tools in use. Hope next part will be better.

It was good, the action is alright but nothing we haven't seen before. It's too long because it's filled with quite a few boring scenes of exposition. I see now they're trying to make Hayley Atwell the new "Ethan". Surprised she isn't a girlboss though they had her being scared and on the verge of tears all the time. The AI is basically Rehoboam from Westworld, doesn't make much sense that it's decentralised and can move around then net so much though. Maybe in the next one we'll see a proper physical manifestation of it.

Oh yeah the bad guy actually does a "Khaaaaan!!!!" which is pretty funny

Tom Cruise makes a damn good movie. Start to finish, we were on the edge of our seats and found ourselves holding our breathe at least a dozen times. Casting was superb. The story and flow was fantastic. I’m a big fan of Rebecca Ferguson, and I was bummed how they did her. That’s my only reason for dropping a star.

I can’t wait for part 2 and for this to be downloadable so we can watch it again in the comfort of our home!

Damn! Too bad they killed Ilsa Faust, Rebecca Ferguson is my favorite actress. Will sure miss seeing her in action on the second part of the film. Hope they will think of a way to bring her back just like Gal Gadot did in Fast and Furious franchise.

loading replies

I just watched the Preview screening of the movie. The cinematography and the plot were superb. Can't say the same about the character dialog though. At times it felt like I was watching a knockbuster movie. Either it was a heavily edited version or the script just sucks. I see that people who saw the movie elsewhere were super satisfied with it, but I was disappointed and just wanted to leave. Will rewatch it again when the final version comes out, to make sure.

loading replies

Concept is a bit hard to buy into, but once you do, the movie is great.

Also not 1, 2, 3 but 4 powerful female characters, that don't feel forced. Also if they announce Pom as the new Harley Quinn in Gunn's DCU, I'd be okay with that.

Also Hayley Atwell is fantastic.

I absolutely LOVED this movie!!
Every second, every Minute of it; I enjoyed it truly. It was my first ever Mission Impossible movie, and even without knowing any of the characters or such I loved them immediately.

Aaaand seeing Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise acting together Was such a mesmerizing experience. (It's not like I didn't adore the other actors Performance; They all did a wonderful Job!!)

loading replies

Like every Mission Impossible movie you know exactly what you're gonna get. Is that a bad thing? Nope! Great action. Okay plot. Amazing tune. Familiar faces behind masks of other faces. Tom Cruise is getting a bit old and Hayley Atwell is absolutely stunning. Let's leave it at that. It's a fun movie. But let the next one be the last. Don't ruin it.

loading replies

Very good !! 10/10 points

loading replies

Not good. They went way over their head with the story. Couldn't follow, couldn't understand the logic.

The AI idea was interesting but that needed a serious proper sci-fi drama to explore it. You don't infuse an action movie like MI with heavy stories.

And that top spy chief, you literally know and saw in this movie, they put masks on. Yet you are oblivious again!

loading replies

Anybody else wished they just shot Grace in the head and be done with her ??

loading replies

Alternate title for this film was "Lord of the Spies". It is based on the film franchise Mission: Impossible, but they didn't respect any of the source material.

loading replies

This was great. I think it could've done with more action less plot, but thats typical of a part one. I enjoyed the action we did get a lot, and the slight of hand throughout was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the new character, to be honest wasn't too emotionally connected to the death. Some characters felt sidelined but part two might fix that a bit.

loading replies

There's a LOT of inconsistencies within the script, and certain scenes are too improbable. The AI entity would easily be able to communicate whatever it wants without anyone interfacing. It's just a tad out there in too many aspects.

Maybe I'm expecting the part 2 to be better so gave it a little higher. It's also almost too long for what you're watching. 6 overall.

loading replies

I love this so much, it's everything a MI film should be with a lot of clever throwbacks to the early films. The threat is great, the twists are thick and fast and as always, Cruise is sublime. I wish he could just make these and nothing else for the rest of our days.

loading replies

it's sucks. So boring

loading replies

First off, you have to appreciate that Tom Cruise has been making this series for 30 years and can still pull it off! He's still doing his own stunts at 60 and can still make the #1 blockbuster film time and again. That's saying a LOT!

The plots have been getting more and more unbelievable and outlandish, but this one actually hits home a bit more than the nuclear explosion did. While it's a bit out of the realm of reality it's not terribly far from it. Look, you have to suspend disbelief on these movies to a degree if you intend to get any entertainment value out of it.

The supporting cast are really just that in this movie, supporting. While they had bigger roles in previous movies, this one they are a bit more in the background. Everyone is looking significantly older than their first appearance in the franchise but otherwise it's a solid MI movie and I really enjoyed it. Then again, I like Tom Cruise's movies except for a couple. He's not the best actor out there but he's certainly the hardest working one and I appreciate that about him.

loading replies

It's got some good action scenes...

loading replies

Can one realistically ask any more of an action movie? This movie was a blast from beginning to end. The premise is also fantastic - I expect we see more of these kinds of movies in the future as AI becomes more prevalent.

One of the most weak of the series I think, fight scenes we're kind of clunky, some editing failures and a script that sometimes doesn't make sense.
Still, a classic MI movie, at the end you get what you want, but not as much.

loading replies

Mission Impossible? no...mission Impeccable.
Why can't part 2 be here already?

loading replies

For a simple McGuffin story, it sure is complicated from a plot standpoint. Great action sequences and stunts win the day, however.

loading replies

loading replies

Let's put in this way. It is the usual action movie of the latest period made of long blocks of detached action in several city landscapes, usually European, often Rome, and sometimes with some stereotypical Italian shouts. It is however better paced than other similar movies of the same time, also for Cruise's gags and some stunts.

loading replies

By the time we collect all those Mission: Impossible we won't have a hard drive big enough. Great movie as usual. Full of everything you need. Pure Enjoyment.

loading replies

This was a great non stop action blockbuster from start to finish. Tom Cruise & Christopher mcquarrie have hit the right formula with the last few films and this entry continues the saga in a brilliant way. The long film time worried me but I never felt like it dragged. Roll on part 2 in 2024!

loading replies

Almost every scene in the first 30 minutes (at which time I have stopped the movie and am currently writing this comment) has CAD level fidelity drawings of the goddamn McGuffin! Just make new copies and get on with the plot.

Previously, these series of movies were a go to for solid level headed action without too much headscratching. This mess just leaves me wondering who blackmailed whom to get this made.

loading replies

The Mission Impossible film genre is not really my cup of tea. Big blockbuster action is not really my cup of tea. Tom Cruise is not really my cup of tea. BUT- something about these last couple of Mission Impossible films have really worked for me. This was marketed as grand, and grand it is. I am looking forward to Part II!

Rating: 4/5 - 85% - Would Recommend

loading replies

boring. missing content. no dialogs, no story, no threat. stopped watching after a while.

The last movie star milking the today's fear of tomorrow through a franchise that had a brilliant beginning, dwindled with the sequel, found new life after the third and ran with it until now. Ethan Hunt vs ChatGPT.

This franchise shone when it had a singular adversary moving through the movies, that adversary being Solomon Lane and the Syndicate. Lane is done and dusted and with it a sense of scale. It's still a Mission Impossible movie with all the bells and whistles you'd expect.

loading replies

Doesn't hold a candle to the previous movies in the franchise. Plot was extra cheesy and action sequences were meh.

loading replies

Supremely shot and constantly entertaining. 8.2. Wild action scenes. For me, some of the B action movie villain stuff is a plus in these films, others may disagree. Looking forward to part 2.

loading replies

Cliché Compilation Part One

Among the worst of this decadent franchise. The plot itself is not great, not awful either. The action sequences were sort of ordinary, they even tried to make up for it with an extreme amount of green screen and CGI where otherwise you'd have practical stunts to sell it properly. In the end this was just like most B movies, despite the high budget and A-listers. Person of Interest tv show does a better job of explaining the AI part in the same 5 minutes than that opening scene... but whatever.

I feel like I spent a good thirty minutes looking up Hayley’s nose! Why is the camera angle looking up from someone’s lap? Anyway, she does have a pretty nose so I’m not really complaining, I mean I should be so lucky to have her nose in such close proximity. Anywayyyyy, I liked it, and like another has said, it would be nice to have seen the AI actually do something, you know like change traffic lights and someone had an accident or something that at least showed us what it’s capable of, maybe that’s coming in Part Deux. I knew from the start that the agents in pursuit would just end up looking like clowns falling over themselves like those two guys chasing Jean Claude in Bloodsport haha, but no matter, it was worth it, I think they jumped the shark when Tom had to motorbike up Everest just so he could get on the train, what on Earth? See you back here in a year once we’ve all forgotten everything and have to re-watch! The music was great btw

Well, i cannot say i was dissapointment cause i did know it was not the masterpiece action movie they said. First of all lets talk about the famous stunt of with the motorciclt. Well as we saw was totally unecessary as he could jump on the train from the bridge like the woman so it added no value to the movie, seeing it was not that impressed and it all comes down to marketing and promotion..

After that, the action scenes and fight scenes were way overlong and overdramatic. That is how you make a 2 hours and 43 movie which tired me down.

The plot, ok it is trending AI, like you remember the 3D movies we got shovle down our throat,no. Yes exactly. Another pointless AI disaster movie that became an Entity and will destroy the word. Purely written on that part completely.

A bit overlong but definitely keeps your attention. I just find it annoying that throughout, agents are after Ethan but never the actual bad guy. They get in Ethan’s way predictably multiple times.
With a little too much of Ethan after a thief named Grace (Hayley Atwell). A big chunk of the movie is Grace running from Ethan despite worse people after her.
The performances, action and twists at least outshine the annoying aspects.
