This was aggressively fine. Nothing really stands out about it, and it feels content having the depth of a 90s/00s comic book movie in both its characters and story. It's a marked improvement over Venom 1 and 2, which is admittedly an incredibly low bar but one it clears with some ease. Violent mediocrity, it's up to you if that's the level of entertainment you wish to shut your brain off and consume with your free time.
Personally, I did enjoy them trying their hardest to make the London Underground look like an American subway station and failing miserably, the Spider-Man 3-esque dance scene from Matt Smith and the random "I am Venom" gag that seemed to have zero punchline or motivation.
Ok, it's actually a 6 but I rated it a 10 because it's 10000 times better than Batman. Yes, it has a thin story and sometimes bad writing, but overall it's not worse than Spiderman or other Marvel movies. I have become a die hard Leto fan after his extraordinary performance in "WeCrashed" and unfortunately he couldn't show off his skills as Morbius. I don't think that it's his fault though. Maybe they should have taken the team from Moon Knight, that made another average Origin-story a great (short) series. Maybe a series would have been the better idea too. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and didn't have to leave the cinema, like with the recent Batman movie that was unbearable.
Sure everyone has their kinks and some people like to be dominated. Me? I’ve seen Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and now Morbius all in the movie theater. So I know a thing or two about being a little, dirty submissive. Feed me more daddy Sony
Honestly I don't get the hate towards Morbius. I enjoyed the movie a lot. I don't know anything from the comics but I was sure entertained. Way better than what I've been seeing lately. Loved Jared Leto and Matt Smith they both were amazing. Sure hope for a team up from Morbius, Vulture and Venom haha that would be awesome. Make it happen Sony and Marvel
Well this was awesome movie, awesome acting of Jared Leto as Morbius (marvel legend). Ive already been like 40 times in cinema best movie ive ever seen, Morbius (he is not Venom) is first film to sell morbilion tickets.
Morbilion/10
An enjoyable movie with a great cast; Jared Leto was amazing as Michael Morbius and I loved his dry wit so much :clap_tone1: LOVED Adria and was surprised by how much I liked Matt Smith’s performance as his was the one I was unsure of.
Also Jared Leto is :type_1_2: and that boy is definitely drinking the blue and/or red to be looking at 50 :fire:
AMAZING MOVIE. Literally the PEAK of cinema. Kinography. Peak Cinema. Peak Fiction. No, I would even go as far to say that this movie IS cinema itself all movies should strive to be as amazing as Morbius. The Apex Of Fiction. 10/10.
As expected, it is full of fine CGIs with simple, ordinary plot. meh 5/10
Are you feeling nostalgic for movies like Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Elektra, Ghost Rider and The Punisher?
Well, you’re in luck.
Easily the worst comicbook film since Hellboy (2019), but I doubt that’s to many people’s surprise.
It’s produced by Avi Arad and written by the guys who did Power Rangers, Gods of Egypt and The Last Witch Hunter.
Its director has never made anything noteworthy, and the lead is an overrated, pretentious hack whose performances have derailed many films over the past ten years.
It’s exactly what you think it’s going to be: dated, nonsensical, overblown and completely soulless.
It’s got crappy acting, predictable story devices, weak dialogue, weird editing choices, everything looks cheap and blue; you probably get the gist of it by now, especially if you’ve seen those movies I mentioned earlier.
This is nothing more than a quick cash in by a studio who thinks they can sell anything for as long as you slap Marvel’s name in front of it.
And they’re probably right, so who can blame them for making it?
2/10
That was pretty bad.
From the scenario that probably took two minutes to write, to the shitty blurry fx, and the constant inconsistencies.
The story is so basic and predictable it hurts, and basically nothing happens.
1) He finds a cure
2) It turns him into a superhuman monster
3) His friend take the cure anyway and becomes a killer
4) He chases him
There's basically no side plot or anything else happening. The cops part are 100% useless. The romance is almost inexistent, but still turned into an important plot point.
Most of the action is just blurs. Blurs because they're moving fast (with shitty effects, see below), and falling a lot, and if it wasn't enough let's add a batnado so that it's really really unwatchable.
The echolocation effects are just as bad and useless.
The other bullshit:
:arrow_forward: Of course the science part, but that is expected
:arrow_forward: When he measures his need for blood, it's 6h and he basically reverts and suffers almost immediately, and duration is going down. However later in the hospital, it's 6h and nothing happens. Later in prison it's very probably a lot more than that. Honestly we don't care, but then why the constant repeated shots of his watch ringing 6h ?
:arrow_forward: Nicholas has time and ability to call him but let himself die without calling an ambulance
:arrow_forward: It's all about "they will die young", since they are children. But then we're 25 years later and it's the same.
:arrow_forward: The bats are supposed to be secret, but as soon as she finds them, they are always exposed
:arrow_forward: The bats "would kill anyone but accept him" because he's like them, well they didn't kill him the first time, when he was still human
:arrow_forward: We never hear again of the little girl, what was the point ?
:arrow_forward: Why are they smoky when they move ? They just move fast because they're strong, they're not magically changing themselves into smoke. This is stupid, very annoying and unwatchable.
:arrow_forward: Why can't Milo do the same thing he does ?
Ending is very anticlimatic, with no post resolution, it just ends.
Then come the post credits. And I was like "wtf, this looks like DC". In the sense that it was trying to very hastily trying link / create a hype / build a universe believing that hastily adding a glimpse of information or characters plus a post credit scene would be enough to build the MCU. The I realized this is not Marvel, this is Sony trying to build a Spiderverse, and boy are they as shitty as DC to do that.
At least, it's better than Venom 2...
Like when someone says, "Ugh, taste this," and you do but it's good.
I don't get all the hate for this film. Honestly, I don't. The story is a little weak, but visually and aurally Morbius is a non-stop river of images and sound. I enjoyed myself more than with many Marvel films (like Venom 1 & 2, and either Wasp Man) and if you don't have too many preconceptions, you will too.
I morbed so hard to this, cinema has peaked
Idk why people hating on it so much, its way better than venom. ♂ 7.5/10 not the best but a good watch :ok_hand:
Jared Leto is 50 and still looks like :sparkles:that:sparkles: of course he’s a vampire
The biggest sin of all, this movie is just boring. There are plenty of movies that make less sense, have worse acting, or have less fleshed out characters, but, most of the time, they justify their existence on some level. This movie brings nothing to the table, and leaves us all with less than we came into the theater with. It's uninspired rambling that follows a chronological timeline, but doesn't really tell much of a story or entertain you. Unless you're just really into smoke effects.
It felt like a made for YouTube fan project that was just there to demo VFX skills rather than storytelling. But at least those often demonstrate a love for the source material. A sharp contrast to Venom, an arguably bad film but that was clearly loved by the people making it, this felt like everyone was there to cash a check and showed little reverence to the film itself and even less to the audience.
Normally, I try to fix a film like this by saying what could have been done right. I can't do that here. There's nothing to save. Utter garbage.
I just came from watching Morbius, I’m glad I stayed away from spoilers and from negative publicity the movie is getting. I really enjoyed the movie for what it is: an origin story, some character development, and some cool action scenes. I think this movie had its odds stacked against it from the very beginning, with the biggest problem was being caught with delays due to the pandemic. I encourage people to give it a chance, watch the movie, enjoy it, there are little things here and there that makes it interesting and revealing with possible future connection to other characters or superheroes.
Did I miss something here? Wasn't his friend rich as fuck? Are you telling me they couldn't find a way to trade money for blood? Come on.
While not awful, it certainly doesn't do much to capture the imagination
The film just fails to make Morbius or any of the other characters interesting. Leto feels wooden and though Smith and Arjona do a fairly decent job at playing their roles it doesn't quite take flight
Add in the constant references to remind you about Spiderman etc (just in case you forgot this was something to do with Marvel) and it feels... cheep
Even the score sounded like it was trying it's best to be a batman film of the bale era
Sadly I just found this film to be something to have on in the background as I was doing something else. I certainly don't regret watching it, but I would have regretted going to see it in the cinema. Even the after credits were a let down
a generous 5
Not even that bad, to be honest.
I had heard murmurs of 'Morbius' being received poorly (as now I see via the average rating!) but didn't know to what degree, which is how I prefer it so I can form my own opinion - which is, I didn't dislike it. Admittedly I have nothing that I like either, but it's a forgettably fine film. In fact, I found it to be the quickest viewing experience of the year so far - the run time absolutely flew by for me.
The cast are a bit up-and-down. Jared Leto has a few moments and overall I'm OK with him in the lead role, meanwhile Matt Smith is more miss than hit but again didn't annoy me or anything like that. Elsewhere, it was pleasant to see Jared Harris and Tyrese Gibson in smaller roles.
The special effects, for the most part, are serviceable in my eyes. I think I also heard that people were questioning why the filmmakers didn't opt for prosthetics and went full blown CG for the faces - I found everything in that area to be fine, it would've been cooler if they mixed it up but if I hadn't heard anything about it I honestly would not have even noted it.
There are some lame lines of dialogue, namely that hunger one, and the credit scenes don't leave any excitement or intrigue behind. Aside from that, I genuinely didn't dislike this. A quintessential 6/10 flick, for me. It is the weakest of the first three SSU films, granted.
Well that wasn’t as bad as the ratings made it out to be and i’m glad i went into it with an open mind but it had it’s flaws tho with the rushed plot, bad after credit scenes and few other silly things in the plot but other than that I enjoyed the film with it’s cool effects, fun action and nice casting and all did well, definitely more positives than negatives.
Not the worst but also definitely not the best.
The child actors in the beginning were horrible.
This comes off strongly as either a very low-budget marvels film, or a covid production. There were barely any actors to begin with, let alone female actors who’d pass any Bechdel or other test. But that wasn’t what I expected this film to do.
The story was a little rushed. There was little depth to it, like no real consequences for the outside world - just a singular story about a singular fate (expanded into two, three people) Another thing that makes it feel like they just tried to pump out “another one for the franchise, let’s slap a pretty face on it and it’ll sell ok enough”. There were a lot of moments that weren’t thought through, or plain silly.
Like the fight down in the subway - not only would there have been CCTV, there were a lot of witnesses that could have told the FBI already then that it wasn’t just ONE “vampire”.
Another thing is how Morbius apparently was highly suspected by the FBI, but they hadn’t tapped his phone or tracked him in any other way? Unlikely.
And what the heck is the other FBI agent trying to do by shaking the litter box of the cat, calling “Kitty Kitty”? That’s the dumbest I’ve seen in a while. Yeah sure, that’s how you attract cats. “Look, fresh litter! come kitty kitty!”
As well as Martine randomly getting scratched by an otherwise extremely docile cat. That’s just convenient eye roll material.
All in all, with a lacklustre story, it could have gone straight to Netflix and not been shown on the cinema at all. Still, it wasn’t as terrible that I regretted seeing it. I was mildly entertained. Wished the bits of humour had been more on point. The Venom joke was ok, but otherwise, it just felt mostly tired. Pretty, but tired. I don’t think many people would have gone to see it, weren’t it for Jared starring in it.
There is truly no other movie like Morbius
I expected this to be truly awful after reading reviews and hearing others talk about it. It's certainly not a good movie, but it's not awful, and there are many worse comic book movies. The biggest crime of this movie is that it's bland and lacks a soul. I'd say it's better than Venom 2, probably on par with Eternals.
Wasn't terrible.
I think there need to be more plot wise. The story overall was meh and I don't feel like I really know any of the characters, those flashback scenes added next to nothing for me.
Feels like a television drama that’s on its 19th season - devoid of originality, life and good acting. Morbius suffers from the “let’s tell you what’s going on via dialogue instead of showing you like a normal movie”. I walked out 30 minutes in because I’d rather be home watching literally anything else.
The ultimate Movie...no, Morbie has arrived.
When he turned to the camera, winked and said "ITS MORBIN TIME" The crowd and myself were all overwhelmed with a sense of joy and boundless euphoria.
This is PEAK storytelling.
This is peak cinema.
Its no secret why this movie made $267 Trillion in the box office and IS and will REMAIN the highest grossing movie in the history of mankind.
I'm glad I lived through and experience such a triumphant piece of cinema history.
After the movie aired, everyone who was in my theater stayed around and talked for hours about what we just witnessed. Some were shaking, some were at a complete loss for words. But the sense of community and togetherness this film brought is something that will never be recreated.
Not the disaster I was expecting but it's still super generic.
i like when matt smith morbed all over himself
On the surface a relatively dull film, with a standard and non-original plot and mediocre acting. Could be enough to spend less than 2 hours resting in front of the screen.
Looking more in depth, the plot and the (lack of) credible explanation of many passages make the overall results worse than it seem. But the worst aspect is the actual setting and excessive CGI usage. Plenty of scenes are actually shot in London (!), and the scene in the London tube disguised as the New York subway (!!) is particularly representative of all the weaknesses of what should have been an high-budget film.
A pretty basic plot with with not a lot else going for it. Visual effects were poor and overused (cue popular comment about too much blur), and I wasn’t stirred to feel anything throughout the whole thing.
The “romance”, if you can call it that, is a prime example of how most elements besides the core plot felt like an afterthought. And let’s not mention the “bolt-on” franchise pair-up teaser during the credits! Maybe it’s just me, but it felt a little desperate and forced. Only time will tell.
Great movie! Everyone should go see it
"It's Morbin' time!"
Morbius just takes me back to the earlier Marvel movies like the Punisher, Ghost Rider and the Fantastic Four. They are bland. The stories aren't interesting and it could've been better. Well, maybe not for Morbius.
All I knew about Morbius beforehand is what I've seen on Spider-man: The Animated Series and he is by far not my favorite villain. So to center a film around him with no Spidey around was just a bad idea. A villain with the same powers but with not having a problem with killing people, boring. The fight choreography? Non-existent. And those vampiric faces? Horrible. Every time you see it especially on Matt Smith's face, it takes you out of the movie.
Anyway I don't want to rumble on too much about this one. The only thing I really liked was that Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) showed up. But to make this idea work of them teaming up and what I think is that they want more Spidey villains to join in, they have to get a better story. Way better.
Yep just as bad as everyone thought, vfx was good and Matt Smith was brilliant, and thats all good thinks this movie had. Thank God I didn't watched it in cinema
You have to see it to believe it - big budget utter sxxt is still being made in 2022. Just think of the many lives that could have been saved using that budget people. Alas alas.
The movie sets up Morbius to be the hero and has him defeat a bad guy. But the end of the movie has a different villian say they want to tream up with him. That didn't fit the story of the movie.
If Morbius was going to "team up" with a villian, why didn't he just team up with the first villain of the movie, instead of defeat him?
Although both Leto and Smith done a good job on their parts, sadly bad writing ruins this movie, but hey, at least it's still better and more entertaining than that god-awful Scarlet Witch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The latest addition to the Sony/Marvel universe is the much-awaited film "Morbius," featuring Jared Leto in the lead role and directed by the makers of "Child 44" and "Safe House." Despite Leto's enthusiasm for the film and the character, initial expectations for "Morbius" were not high due to its prolonged delays and lackluster marketing. Upon viewing the film, it becomes evident that the studio's involvement has greatly impacted the final product. "Morbius" is a disjointed, lackluster and unenjoyable experience. The dark and gritty aesthetic could have worked if other elements had complemented it, but the tonal imbalance of the film makes it difficult to fully engage with. The absurdity of the story would have benefited from more humor, but instead, certain scenes are unintentionally comical. Furthermore, the movie's lackluster visual and lazy script do not do it any favors. Despite this, the performances of Leto and Smith are decent and they clearly put in effort in their roles. Unfortunately, Adria Arjona's character is underdeveloped and underutilized. The attempts to create a horror atmosphere are commendable but the action sequences are heavy and uninspired. It feels like there was a better version of the film that could have been, but instead "Morbius" ends up feeling hollow and like a missed opportunity.
The style isn't too bad but the story was just very thin in this one and unbelievable when it comes to two best friends. Simply an unsatisfying watch.
I have to say that I quite liked this movie. A bit surprised since it is a new Marvel movie after all. It is even free of woke bull manure which made me even more surprised.
The “scientific” part of Morbius changing his DNA, overnight no less, by means of some serum that he derived from vampire bats is of course utter nonsense but one cannot really complain too much about that since it is straight from the original comic book character.
The story is really simple and not much to write home about but it works in its simplicity. After all, in this kind of movie we really do not need something fancy as long as it is not downright stupid. It only needs to be a vehicle for the action and special effects and for that purpose the story works fine.
I like Morbius. He is intelligent and he doesn’t just sink down in some self pity or whining sessions when he finds out that things did not go exactly as planned. Sure, he is not happy about it but at least he does research into his condition and he actually takes the effort to learn what he can do with his new powers.
I also do like the special effects and the action in general. The bad guy was rather predictable and not really very charismatic but he worked fairly okay. I think that most of the actors made a good enough job actually.
If I should complain about anything it was that scene in the beginning where they claimed that vampire bats could “finish off” big animals in minutes or something. That not what vampire bats do or how they feed. It is of course utter ignorant bull manure by some idiot script writer and it was really totally unnecessary to soil the movie with such nonsense already in the first scenes. I had hoped that ignorant script writers like that died out together with the last flying rubber Piranha in the early 80’s.
Anyway, I quite liked the movie. A lot of movies that I’ve watched lately have felt bloated and too long for the material. This one I actually felt was too short.
I had to watch it because of all the meme. When you hear Morbius is definitely a movie, you get curious after all.
And the memes are based on the truth. The movie has a lot of issues. It's really a forgettable, basic superhero movie.
One of the issue with this movie is the lack of motivation for the villain. It's difficult to understand the dynamic between Morbius and Milo. Suddenly, in 2 minutes, Milo becomes a killer. There is one scene when Morbius refuse to give the cure to Milo, and it feels like something is missing. A few scenes were probably removed in the editing process.
Yet another Marvel movie (didn't know that until opening credit). Couldn't take past 15 minutes - sick and tired of all these vampire-type movies. 0/10
This feels like one of those comic book movies we would’ve gotten back in the early 2000s. It's so bizarre. The film is all over the place, I mean literally, take a look at the editing.
But, interestingly, from multiple viewing of the trailer in the past 2 years, this was completely expected.
Finally! Not a childish MCU movie. I can see why everyone hates it. It's because they don't do silly forced jokes and no Disney ending. I can say it's not a masterpiece, but is not that bad as people say.
If like vampires I would suggest this movie it puts a lovely spin on the old tale of vampires
I thought it was pretty good. The cgi effects were pretty good except when they are fighting which makes it harder to see what they are doing but overall, i'd say it wasn't too bad. Like many others stated, some of the plot seems unnecessary and rushed. Jared leto did well in the movie too, he is hawwwwtttt!! I actually prefer individual super hero or super villain marvel movies compared to movies like Avengers where all the super heroes and super villains gather. Yes it does seem cool but i can't stand it when EVERYONE in the movie needs to shine, it gets too messy (and sometimes cringey to me) and by the time the war is won, half the earth is blown off(I exaggerate i knowww~ LOL).I've only watched The avengers (not end game and not planning to watch it either) and that was how i felt after watching a show with too many main characters trying to shine in the entire show(cringe). That's just me though, I wouldn't mind if there's more Morbius as long as they can come up with a good storyline. I actually don't know if he is considered a villain or a hero since the end credits were showin he was gonna team up against spiderman but in this movie, he was trying to be good and was even controlling his need for blood. He tried not to kill and even stopped his best friend so isn't he considered more of a hero than a villain? Unless his need for blood can no longer be contained with artificial blood then that will be a start for his villainous ways. Guess we'll hafta wait and find out
It was definitely morbin' time. I had to check out how bad this was. Listen, the first half actually isn't awful. The second half is horrendous of course. I knew what I was getting into, but still was pretty terrible. A generous 4.5 from this fella.
It's absolute garbage. It's only even a 3/10 because I actually managed to make it through the movie. And that's a pretty low bar.
Starting off, they cast the children literally the opposite as they should have. Which makes it later confusing when it shows the adults that look like the opposite children.
Next, anyone in this movie with a gun is absolutely batshit crazy. Cop sees a suspect fleeing? Why not just start blasting his ass? Guy randomly comes somewhere he shouldn't (and won't leave despite being told to repeatedly by his employer), well let's just start shooting for no reason and tell everyone else to as well who of course do it without even thinking.
The plot is utterly predictable. Very early in the movie I predicted friend's gonna take the thing anyways, then he's gonna kill the girl and other people he cares about which is then going to make him kill said friend. And what happened? Exactly that. Just stupidly painfully predictable and cliché. That prediction happened right around the 40 minute mark which is how long it takes for this trainwreck of a film to actually make it back to the mainland where the bulk of the movie actually takes place. The plot was easily predictable before that as well. I tell myself well this idiot of a mercenary is going to hurt the girl somehow then he's gonna kill the merc then all the other mercs are gonna lose their damn minds and he's gonna kill the rest of them too. And what happened? Exactly that. Though to be fair I expected the merc would try to rape her, cause he was kinda giving off those kinda creeper rapey vibes. But that's not what happened. It still followed the basic prediction pretty spot on otherwise though.
About the only good thing about the movie is its runtime so you don't have to suffer any longer than that.
There's a lot of plots they build up like bridges to nowhere. Like for instance there's this poor little girl with the same kinda condition that gets so bad she has to be put into a coma. Then it's just left at that. Never even attempts to help her once he has a cure. She never wakes up, is never even seen again. Or the girl with blood dripping in her mouth (which was also utterly predictable that she'd turn). It's just left at that, never even follows up on it after she turns. It's just like "welp, yep, that happened. Now let's forget about her and focus on this random dude with no context whatsoever."
God if this is gonna be part of some new multiverse they're building it's gonna be an absolute disaster of a shitshow.
Between the horror film with obvious references and the superhero film, it seems that the complicated production influenced the final chaos, and that Pietro Scalia has edited more than expected to try to make the story understandable. But we have already seen the exploration of the superheros vampires facing their fate in the "Blade" saga, and in this case it is as bland as it is chaotic. Daniel Espinosa's direction does not help, confused in the action scenes despite the fact that in other titles he handled them correctly.
Somewhat like Jakle & Hyde. Probably more brutal thou.
What's bad about this is that it is not awful. It's just so predictable and dull. I can't even blame Jared Leto and Matt Smith. They try so hard to lift the film above bland but end up just looking ridiculous.
And I did hate how clumsy the film turns at the end when they desperately try to shoe-horn Spider-Man connections into the story. It was painfully bad writing.
I honestly thought it was going to be way worse… better than Venom 2 it is… I wouldn’t watch it again but at least the effects are good. It reminded me of the way Alex Mercer flies in Prototype… if a Morbius game came out, I’d play it!
What an absolute load of rubbish!
This is my new go to movie, you know…
Your friend is looking for a suggestion for a movie to watch and you recommend this one because you know it’s so bad, just to satisfy that little evil streak that you have now and then.
Well the best bits got to be the after credit teaser, but I really hope they don’t make a sequel to this piece of crap
This shouldn’t even be associated with Marvel. A soulless movie that didn’t make any sense and Jared Leto was a let down in this movie.
I heard it was bad, but wanted to see it with no expectations, luckily I saw it at home and it turned out to be crap. Weak dialogue and predictable story and it feels cheaply done. Nothing like the Marvel formula for movies.
I’m sorry if Tyresse Gibson was cast as any character in a movie that’s setting it up as a flop, I can’t take the guy seriously.
Avoid it if you can
The scene with the counterfeiter "I'm Venom" was funny enough to offset some of the bad. It's hard to pull off a superhero birth movie without following all the known tropes. Maybe Morbius 2 will be better.
I believe bad movies must be enjoyed in the cinema. Its where they get the most honest chance they got but Morbius... Oh Morbius!
Its truly as bad as everyone says it is. Maybe if it were 2010 the horribleness wouldn't be as strong, but its 2022 and the movie has Jared Leto in it so that's already a big red flag. Cult leaders shouldn't be in big budget Hollywood things, I hope they learned their lesson.
Boring and uninspired everything, from the clothes to the sets. The superhero genre is killing itself as we live and breath and Morbius could be the "Et video game" of it al.
If I can say one good thing about the film is that Matt Smith has the most hilarious dancing scene I ever saw.
I can't remember if he says "It's morbin time" or not... It's that bad...
Really weak and shallow plot, dialogue was lazy, but the superpower visuals were nice, I guess it's got that going for it. The cops added nothing of value to the story, Martine's romance with Morbius was shoehorned in, and don't get me started on the nonsensicle post-credit scenes. I am genuinely shocked this movie didn't kill the Sony Spider-verse the way The Mummy killed the Dark Universe.
it's a good movie. not as great as other marvel movie. at least 7 rating from me. even the worst marvel movie series is better than dc best movie these days.
I don’t know why it go so many bad reviews. I know it is not the best movie. But it was very enjoyable. Very different to what I thought. Visual effects were great too.
Great comedy movie. Sony knocked it out of the park with this.
I don't understand the hate. I think it's a good vampire movie. maybe the problem it could be called something else and be a generic vampire movie and it wouldn't change anything. I don't get the complains about cgi and action I thought both were good. I also thought Matt Smith and Jared Leto made the movie.
I had never heard of this character before, but I'm not a big Spider-Man fan, so there was no reason for me to have heard of him. However, I found it entertaining enough. It wasn't fantastic, and the casting was a bit odd, and the story was rather formulaic, akin to that one Spider-Man movie w/ the James Franco as the Green Goblin, but other than that, it was interesting enough. I'm not certain what all the hate was about, unless it was something to do w/ a big departure from the comic book character, but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, although for a major comic book film, it was rather lacking in a number of areas.
Well that was a waste of time and frankly Marvel need to get its IP’s back and stop these films wasting what could’ve been a decent film with absolute tripe!
So unoriginal and disappointing what a waste of potential. The acting and the story are so meh. The ending felt weird and rushed. What the hell happened with those two post-credit scenes looks like they were written by a 5-year-old. The only thing worth the watch is the vampire action and the fight scenes.
They should of went for a more horror based movie with blood but no they had to keep it PG-13 to make more money. There's even a scene with a guy who gets his neck sliced up and not a drop of blood is coming out.
The continuity of this movie is COMPLETELY FUCKED; characters will be sitting in one shot then laying down the next and back to sitting while still speaking the same sentence. Important details are important until they're not. Everyone teleports and suddenly knows everything about anyone but the audience doesn't know what's going on. Characters are named but we're never introduced to them. The editing is so fucking janky that my head is spinning, it's as if the movie was edited in reverse and then shuffled like a deck of cards. There's tonnes of missing context where I imagine the original cut was at least 2 hours and 30 minutes long. Here we get no idea of anyone's relationship, motives, or history. The composition of CGI sequences feels right out of a 2003 superhero movie. Everything about this movie is confusing and disgusting. It could absolutely make people angry for legitimate reasons. The only good part is knowing Jared Leto failed again and failed hard.
:heart:x5
I would not classify this as a Marvel movie - it's more like an adjacent adjacent Marvel movie. In other words, not very good. Story is utterly un-unique and predictable. Visuals were too dark, effects, nothing really special about them.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Morbius? more like Peakbius. Morbius Sweep
"Morbius, Dorbius, Orphius
Go eat some walruses
Orifices, Porridges
Morbius, Morbius
Going to the Buffet and Walruses
Confidence, Corpseses
Worcestershire sauce
Go into your orifices
Red blood, blue blood
Morbius, Walruses
Seashells by the Seashorbius
Morbius drinking a forty in a death basket!"
Morbius sweep!
Morbius is rushed, muddled, and overall disappointing. More of a cash-in than an attempt to make a quality movie and further evidence that the MCU should be given the keys to EVERY Marvel character.
Eh look it’s not a great film but hey got to get out of the house etc etc so not unwatchable. Having said that the most disappointing thing really is that they could’ve taken Morbius in so many directions but decided on the easiest most shallow rendition. Like step sideways go full horror a la Alien. I don’t know was just expecting more but hey ho can’t win them all.
after reading the bad reviews I was going in with very low expectations. It has bugs but you can see it. the worst thing is the trail they leave behind when they use their powers.
"Time to let go of what you used to be and discover what you're meant to be."
Sony comic book movies (without Marvel Studios) have one thing in common: They feel like they are in the early 2000's. This is no exception although I will say, the first half of the movie actually felt like something solid. The third act is where I start to notice the early 2000's thing, and wish it could've wrapped up into something more interesting. I think it's still better than Venom 2.
Blade combined with batman combined with Nightcrawler from X-Men.
How on earth did the cop get to the roof a few seconds after morbius when he literally flew up them and the cop had to run..... I assumed the cop had powers buy no just crappy story telling.
It hasn't been bad, but... it has things that ufff. The fights are not seen at all, the bad guy... 2 years of waiting for this
Venom: Let There Be carnage was bad.
Morbius - "Hold my beer"
I truly think Jared Leto did a great job as the role. The overall atmosphere was good as well. There was just something missing. Part of it was a rushed enemy but something I can’t put my finger one. I’d recommend it but to watch once or twice.
Its actually a great film. I personally enjoyed it. Especially the effects and combat
I don't think it was THAAAAT bad. At least was better than Venom 2. But there were some scenes that looked disjointed to their previous ones (like if they chunk a good bit of minutes in between). The plot was meh, and the effects were kinda bad, but not terrible, i kinda liked them (it remind me to Nightcrawler), but also the fights were just a blur with some slow motion from here to there. The only thing that i truly disliked were the post-credit scenes: why vulture comes to this universe? Supposedly, he appeared when Dr. Strange fix everything in NWH, but it doesn't make sense that he went to another universe since he was originally from MCU Earth. And in one scene he appears in prison, and is being taken to another or so it seems, and in the next is out and....With the suit??? Where did he got it? Did he rebuild it? WTF was that
It's morbin' time
- Morbius
The only good thing here was the CGI. Very simple plot and post-credit scenes completely meaningless.
Jared Leto should have a MCU role. He would nail it, for sure.
Generic as a story. This is basically Bruce banner origins. Horrid acting, shallow plot. This is worse than matrix 4
Well, the movie was good. It was full of action, the sound was great, the acting was good, I loved the characters and the plot but... shame I didn't find out until after watching it that the main actor has a whole host of SA and Pedophilia accusations against him (from accusers and peers in the industry as witness) that he's never bothered to address. :/ not feeling too good about the casting crew just pretending that doesn't exist when other actors entire careers are destroyed for the same.
Imagine thinking some retarded trashfire like Black Widow is better than this. MCU drones and journalists have it out for their Feige golden goose. Finally a return to 2000's comic book movies that just try to be simple, origin stories, reminiscent of Ang Lee's masterpiece, Hulk. Flashy cinematography by Oliver Wood, a decent script focusing on familial rivalry/not overly bogged down by anything else, and fun performances bolstered by an impressively low 75 million budget for the effects. It follows the comics decently enough, and Michael looks like his print counterpart towards the end. Surprisingly violent with blood effects for a number of the kills, of course edited slightly for PG-13, but it's better than Venom (2018)'s cold feet censorship. The flight sequences and POV work for the bevy of action set pieces are enthralling and a ride. Everything is nicely lit with dark shadows and backlighting, echoing some horror movies of the period this film is clearly inspired by, like The Grudge 2. Matt Smith finally gets his time to shine, after some previous films didn't work out, as a desperate lawyer looking for an ailment to what he thinks is a curse, being in a crippled body and made fun of by others. You get a good conflict from Morbius and Milo as they don't see eye-to-eye on this being a cure for both their misfortunes. None of this convoluted bullshit like you see in Disney's cinematic gangbang. Glad that Spider-Man was retconned out of that Homecoming trilogy. Speaking of which, Michael Keaton makes a return as Vulture, after having his memory of Peter Parker wiped by the events of No Way Home, is out for Spider-Man again, in a mid-credits scene. It will be fun to see what comes of the Sinister Six. If you want more vampire ALA Dracula Untold or Afflicted, you will be satisfied.
Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was high when I watched it though so that might have helped.
Disclaimer*** Seeing this after Madam Webb for the first time might make me little more gracious to this movie.
I’ll give the complements first, Jared Leto and Matt Smith are good in this film. Far better than other cast in Webb. Also this is a sloppy movie but it still felt more thought out than the other.
Now for the bad. The cgi. I couldn’t make out shit during the final battle. Also the slowmo stuff was very lame. Also Matt Smith vampire form looked bad. The story also feels so choppy, for example he put a little girl in a coma and she was never seen again! Also I was dying laughing at the part where Morbius is on the run and flys up 30 stories to evade the cops, just for cop to appear on roof top 30 seconds later. It’s dumb, but almost watchable dumb. This still further alongs the feeling like…. What are we doing here Sony. If another bad guy “anti-hero” movie ends up fighting the same version of his powers again I think we got to call it quits.
Sony gives me less and less hope with marvel. How hard is it to make decent movies with the amount of money they have. Instead they make this bland thing.
Wow. A Marvel movie that attempts to do more than just rehash the same old plot elements for the 1,843rd time. And it succeeds at it far more often than it fails. Color me impressed. I wasn't expecting much from this one at all, and I ended up being pleasantly surprised.
Heard Jared Leto method acted for the movie. He became an actual vampire and has now started a new cult.
WORST MARVEL movie to ever exist!
Enjoyed it most the first time. Didn’t have the same zest six months later but I still like it.
Feels like a marvel version of a vampire horror flick... And I love it!
Such a waste of my and Matt Smith time. Daniel Espinosa, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless you failed this movie. Archie I can't wait to see you in Shadow and bone s2 <3
I wonder if Blade will ever hunt Morbius. ;) Nothing special, but there was no darker story in Marvel till now.
Yowzers! I can see how people couldn't get into it because of the effects, but c'mon... Y'all are being ridiculous. It isn't as mockably bad as the internet would have you believe. The story is actually pretty decent and Lehto is a good choice for this character. If this had come out in the 90s, it would be celebrated as a milestone comic book flick, much like Blade. But yeah... Those effects are wretched. And Dr. Who is an awful bad guy.
A dissapointing movie which is being milk for the mcu.
I expected this to be absolutely terrible based on all the negative comments. But it’s actually not the worst thing Marvel’s released...
Yes the movie has a lot of issues, one of which is the really bad editing, but it is watchable.
The post credits scene is quite confusing though...
i mean it could've been worse but no one's complaining about the part that i REALLY struggled to suspend disbelief for - he's a world renowned scientist with a blood disorder where he needs multiple treatments daily BEFORE the vampire shit and you're telling me they wouldn't be giving him access to treatment in jail??
I am still watching. I was reluctant to watch, because I don't like Jared Leto. But this one doesn't seem to be quite as bad as his other roles. ....
And Matt Smith I don't particularly relish either. When he was doctor who, the stories were well written, but I never warmed up to him.
And why on earth does it seem like the Batman them from the dark night plays in the background?!
Not being all that familiar with the character (I had only seen a couple of Spider-Man comic books where the two of them battled), I can't really cast an opinion on how "true to the character" this movie was. As a Marvel action-type, it was adequate. Not sorry I watched it once, but this is one of the rare Marvel movies I probably wouldn't waste a second viewing on. The character seemed almost too "superhuman"...like a blending of the Flash, Superman, Spiderman, and the Incredible Hulk: seemingly undefeatable. I caught myself wondering throughout the film what an arch-rival would have to do to defeat the Morbius character, and all I could think was, "How could you keep this dude engaged in a fight for 6 hours so his potion would finally wear off?" I don't know...I guess maybe this was a winner for some folks but as far as the Marvel movies/characters go, this ranked right up there with Ghost Rider and the Fantastic Four movies. Just didn't seem to translate to the big screen all that well.

There are some who say this is good - and why so many haters? Do not believe them it is total undeniable poop…
