I think this has the earmarks of becoming a cult-classic. It's absurd to say the least but a whole lot of fun.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
This genre-bending horror is wild, cheesy, colorful, gory and hilarious, bursting with an ambitious or stupid premise that mixes supernatural elements with technology. It feels like a mashup of familiar genre films while still retaining its own identity. The imaginative vision paired with a lot of nice visual flair and action make this a thoroughly entertaining watch. Another fun addition to the Christmas horror list.
I didn't thought I would like this movie as much as I did. A great surprise. The story is very original, and the over-the-top acting, CGI and pace fits well with the movie.
Crazed mash up of Ghostbusters and Matrix is not as good as director's previous film, Wyrmwood, but entertaining enough. Spends so much time explaining the premise and what they are doing, they literally don't do anything in a lot of parts of the flick. The character of RANGI was supposed to be funny, but it is a fail, so a big part of the film is missing.
Not a big deal, but this mix of Ghostbusters and Tron is entertaining, the best, Monica Bellucci
Demons are trying to get into our world through a phone app, the hero discovers he is coming from a very powerful line of demon hunters. In the beginning it looks like a perfect wtf story, as weird and funny and kitsch as one could wish. But somewhere along the way it starts taking itself too seriously and it loses the Z-movie appeal.
It's still quite ok, but somehow I feel the focus is not on the right spots. The app thing turns out to be almost irrelevant, it would have been fun to have more of that. Yeah sure Howard not only comes from a great line of Nekromancers but also his mother is litterally the original demon, but that makes the whole story focused onto him, while the interesting things are the world they live in, the demon, the nekromancers, etc. It would have been great to see a little more of Nekromancers, their fights, their powers, their weapons, their stories, but as soon as we meet some, we learned that they're the last ones and one dies almost immediately, that's a waste.
Same thing, the discovering his powers/training part is usually a centerpiece of the story in this kind of tales, and even though the schema is basically always the same, it can be funny and captivating, and here it really is a letdown. It goes directly from not even trying and fail miserably on the forst try to awesome results on the second.
The ghost friend is just here as comic relief though there could have been some lore here, about ghosts in the world, where they come from, what they can do, etc. The network thing that Morrigan set up, the machine to incarnate and kill demon, there were a lot of other concepts that are really under used.
Visually it's mostly both kitsch and realist looking enough, so not much to complain about.
Obviously can't say it is Monica Bellucci's greatest role.
Great point: the game like animation intro scene is just perfect (would have been incredible if the whole movie held up to this standard!).
Anyway it's good entertainment if you like Z movie stories but cleanly done with a high budget.

Demons infecting the world through the internet and phone apps? Normally this modern garbage would be complete shit, but add in Aussie comedy, a lot of gore, well done CGI and a script that gets right into the grittiness, this has fun written all over it.
If you've seen Wyrmwood, you know exactly the type of bloody mess you're walking into.
