Boring.

Slow and completely ridiculous. How did Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly & Emma Watson get themselves involved in the crap.

For those who are unaware of the source material, the movie is based on a Comic Book story that was built over a poem that Aronofsky did in school when he was a child, so no, not a biblical story adaptation, as you may think. It's a fantasy comic book story that is not even set in Earth, so yeah, they use what it looks like jeans, yes they have giant rock angels, and yes it is different from the bible version. Just please do some research before saying stupid things about a movie. For a fictional fantasy story, comic book-based with an argument built over a child's poem, with sci-fi tones and discussions about family and paternal issues, Aronofsky delivers a well made movie, with great visuals, some good acting, a good soundtrack and a plot that if you are aware of its origins, is pretty decent and in some ways original. A good directorial movie that he always wanted to do.

I am mesmerized by how Aranofsky understand the specificity of the biblical narrative.

Oh my word!!! Those die hard Christians are gonna have a field day with this movie, GIANT ROCK CREATURES, REALLY... REALLY?!?!?! I had to keep on reminding myself that this is a "Bible story" adaption, because it felt more like Transformers meets those TITANS from The Hobbit.

Plus why do movies like these always need to make God be seem so mystic, mysterious and neglective? Its lame and used too death!!!

Bringing me to my last nick picking observation; here are some GREAT casting choices. But, damn is this script lame. It's as bland as the paper it was written on making it seem like just another quick cash in simply because its a religious movie..

Shame on you HOLLYWOOD. SHAME ON YOU!

Not bad, that's the top note I can give it to the movie.
A bit too stretched in time, could be 20 minutes shorter.
What surprised me was the coexistence of the God theory and the Darwin theory in the same motion picture.

loading replies

Utterly forgettable and uninspired, it feels like he just wanted to get through making this movie and move on. Could also have been half the length and would not have lost anything.

loading replies

It was an ok movie, but I have to say I expected more. It was way too long, they could've easily shortened it to around 90 minutes.

I watched this movie, and learnt that Noah was a bit of a dick.

As a retelling of the biblical story of Noah and the Ark... it's a joke and has about as much grounding in reality as the original biblical story itself. So I guess that should make it accurate in bizarro world. :)

The performances were weak, Crowe did his usual bland and dull acting job, Emma Watson wasn't very good at all either. The only decent performances in the entire cast came from Ray Winstone and Jennifer Connelly. Aside from Anthony Hopkins, whose part was so small that it's hard to give an overall comment on his performance... I guess adequate would suffice... the rest of the cast are pretty much unknown to me and as such I have no previous body of work to call upon in comparison.

The visual effects were weak, the creature design laughingly bad and the direction and photography rather poor... When rounded up with poor dialogue and one dimensional character portrayal... It's pretty much a disaster of a movie... but not in the sense of it actually being a movie about a disaster.

Don't waste your money buying or renting it... and I hope you didn't pay to see it at the movies...

In short... save yourself from wasting a few hours of your life and do something more interesting with instead... Like watching paint dry for 138 mins.

Sorry.... total and utter crap.

This movie is a sad excuse to exploit the biblical story of Noah. All who were involved in making this movie must've been out of their mind. Boring movie with many plot holes. This will be the last biblical rendition movie I will ever watch.

loading replies

Talk about ruining a fantastic story.

I began watching this and after five minutes wondered why they bothered. The Watchers as walking (well, no, lurching rocks? Oh, please. The Watchers were supposed to have mated with humans - can't see them doing much mating, can you? And the dialogue ...!!!

Numb, a bit forced and without panache, although the source is a bestseller after all. If anyone was to be convinced by this story, they would probably sooner believe in the arks from "2012". ;)

Please just watch Evan Almighty instead

I have never review a movie before finishing it, but this is the worst movie of all time, I'm pretty sure. The liberty the producers and screenwriters took to change the biblical history is increíble. I just watched this because of Emma Watson.

One of the most absurd and stupid movies I’ve seen in a long time. I haven’t facepalmed that hard since Hacksaw Ridge (2016). The creators who wrote this movie must have been on something good, and those who approved it need to have their jobs checked. The various decisions to progress the plot and add drama were just unnecessary awkward and painful. I’m just glad this movie is now over.

From Darren Aronofsky comes Noah, a bold, visionary interpretation of the biblical flood story. And this vision is unlike anything that has ever been done before; with rock monsters, magic beans, and people of light. Given the scant source material, some speculation is to be expected; but Aronofsky really outdoes himself, and injects a lot of ultra-liberal themes into the film. Still, the amazing special effects create a visual spectacle that cannot be denied. Also, the performances by Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, and Emma Watson are remarkably impressive. While Noah is no Sunday School story, it delivers an extraordinary adventure that’s full of thrills.

A little too long and boring. Russell Crowe was pretty great and so was Emma Watson. The story is something we all were told when we were young and it's interesting to see this take, even if some of it is just absurd (rock angels).

loading replies

just blah....could of been shorter and just boring, just a lame movie

loading replies

Some Cool Visuals But Lacking in Depth

loading replies

Not bad if you are not expected to follow the exact route of the Bible
The special effects are not bad, and we do not mind. Great. I think.

Ridiculously underwhelming, dumb plot additions to create tension, dreadfully dull, despite what people say about the visuals they were merely okay, and it honestly doesn't really have anything going for it. Noah, the character, is the most loathed character I've seen in months and is shown in an absolutely terrible light. I know the source material leaves lots of room for interpretation and filling in the gaps (I mean, you're basically trying to adapt a few paragraphs into a two-hour long movie) but all the decisions were terrible.

It's unintentionally hilarious sometimes (throwing firecrackers into boats, trampling random chicks, Emma Watson screwing her boyfriend instead of helping save his brother, anything that Anthony Hopkins does, etc.)but it is a solid movie even with those parts. It succeeds in having that "Big" feel to it and the time lapse sequences are excellent.

I'm deeply disappointed that the part where Noah Burns all the clean animals is not in this movie.
I truly wish all the people that believe in the story of Noah should see it for what it really is. And not again a fictional story for children.

Compared to the biblical Noah it might be only the general outline of the story that made the base for this movie. I admit I'm not very well with the bible. Sure they put something more it to it for the drama. But simply as a movie it's not totally awful. Yeah probably about half an hour to long but I think the massage of the movie is something worth to think about especially in todays times.

Terrible. Didn't make it through the film.

Another way to say total fiction from a book

This movie sucked. I was expecting a much better film.

Noah's story is not even a myth, is just a story. This is a fantasized interpretation of it. But it still embodies the spirit of it. The result is the same as in the Bible. If the bible would have been just a collection of stories like 1001 Nights, it would have been one of the best. Would you have minded a different interpretation of one of the stories from 1001 nights, like Disney's Aladin?

The first two acts were really good...Then the third act happened and the movie dragged on and on and on. The final third was painfully bad and the movie would have been better off had they just cut most of it out completely

I saw this movie for Emma Watson. Not bad

Oh my gaaawd (no pun intended), what an utterly horrendous movie! I must say I was hesitant to see it because of the biblical theme but I never could have imagined a movie with this kind of misogyny and uninspiring story could be released in 2014. On top of that awful acting and just a painfully slow and non-engaging storyline.

I watch this movie at the cinema today and this is a good movie. this film is to be seen with the heart, because it speaks of love, respect, care with others, forgiveness. this movie makes you a better person, and makes you want to give your true and pure love for the people, because that's what we need most. because together we can stop the racism and violence, because we are all brothers e sisters, we are all one. this movie teaches that the lie falls in front of truth, that nobody can hurt you or breaking your heart, that his legacy is unbreakable. because God is with you all the time, you just need trust him.´´ I made you to be like me, I gave the earth for you to care, I love you my son.´´ can not see love is the purpose of this film

I don't believe in god, but I went to the movies anyway. This isn't bad, but it gets reaaaally boring some minutes past the middle. It could've ended long before, didn't have to drag on for so long. But overall I'd say this is ok.
