Nurse 3-D 2013

Manages to evoke equal measures of laughter, repulsion, shock, and savage glee throughout the entire film — something that most entertaining movies can only achieve in a handful of scenes...yet “Nurse” doesn’t have a single boring frame in over 90 minutes.

Sure, it’s not for everyone. But for people who enjoyed the Evil Dead trilogy, (specifically Evil Dead: II), this film can be likened to the of unapologetic B-movie indulgence to an extent. It’s not that outrageous in the blood splatter & limb-severing department as the Evil Dead flicks, (then again, how could it?), but has a lot more plot for those of you who don’t want to watch attractive women & brutal murders without having a decent narrative thread stringing it all together ;)

8/10. Joe Bobb says check it out...well, I’m saying that he’d tell you to check out. I’m pretty certain he’d endorse this flick, what else do you need to know before deciding whether or not to watch a movie about a crazy nurse who — in her own words — “loves men”? I rest my case.

The movie is about bare asses.. or something like that. Announced as an erotic thriller beforehand it doesn't really deliver. I mean look at the current teaser poster, I expected some bloody thrill ride about revenge which it isn't really. Instead it is one hell of a messy story. The revenge gets put aside quickly for her obsession over a new nurse which she wants to mentor (as crazies) but ultimatley gets rejected from.
If they went with just the revenge theme it would have been more enjoyable because having Paz de la Huerta acting, dressing and walking around like a slut (gosh those fat lipps are creepy not sexy) all day makes her such a comic character that it's unbelivable that others would interact with her the way they do. You just can't have a serious story with something like that. There is also the common understanding that fucking at work is a normal thing to do it seems and a more racist version of Laverne from Scrubs also has some random scenes. The 3D doesn't add anything to the movie either. From what I read in an inverview with the director all I can say is that I hate fucking bullshit marketing statements. Beliving nudity and some blood make for an edgy movie is rather naive.
The release of the movie has been delayed multiple times and according to our presentator (who apparently works for the company that has the distribution rights here) the movie was previously only screened in private at Cannes to the buyers and probably won't make it to another screen anytime soon as they have problems clearing the film. Maybe sometime down the road this will be put out. It's not like you're missing out on much.

I wonder what this would have been like with a different lead actress? Paz de la Huerta does a lot of internal narration, but talks like she is a stupid woman-baby

The story itself could have been good - but it didn't really work (apart from Regina - she was golden! "I'm not really the smiley face type - do you have an angry face?")

Although the Gin Wygmore music was well suited

While a little derivative and cheesy, Nurse 3D sort of works in a B-movie kind of way. The story follows a hospital nurse named Abby Russell who kills philandering men on the side, but when she becomes obsessed with one of the nurses in training she starts to get reckless. The performances are deliciously awful and really help to amp up the camp factor. Additionally, a lot of the CGI blood effects look quite fake (especially the ones meant for 3D). However, there’s a nice bit of mystery and intrigue to the character of Abby Russell, and whether or not she’ll get caught. Ghoulishly entertaining, Nurse 3D is a pretty formulaic horror film that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Total unredeeming exploitation trash. There are a couple cool gore kills, but aside from that, it's just the typical slasher story we've seen a million times. Probably doesn't help that I can't stand to look at the lead onscreen.

I gave it a 4 and that only because the camerawork and the film grade shifts the whole towards a 4. Last night I dreamed I had a room full of spiders and I was lying on the floor among them counting to see if there were any missing.

Since I don't dream that often in my life I can say that was more enjoyable than this movie.

Well this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Atrocious acting (especially by Paz De La Huerta - is she unable to speak like a normal person?), you wouldn't believe it but the storyline is even worse. It's not even worth watching for nudity sake, there are much better options for that.

Btw - I just loved the scene where a girl calls 911 from a cellphone that clearly and very visibly says NO SERVICE on the screen. Nothing in this movie adds up. Save your precious 80 mins, take a nap, whatever - just don't waste your time on this garbage.
