From the setup to the pay off this movie keeps you on the edge of your seat
We were looking for something light and fun on saturday and this movie popped up. It was just that - light and fun. The movie was best when Clooney and Pitt interacted. I thought that ending was rather clever. Beyond that... well, there isn't a need to look beyond that. It was what it was - a nice two hour diversion.
Cheadle, mate, let’s not do that accent again, shall we?
Besides that, it’s a lot of fun. It kinda feels like diet Scorsese in terms of camerawork, editing, music and setting, but it also carries its own stamp at the same time. The characters could’ve been more engaging, it probably would’ve been better with a lighter tone because of how exaggerated everything is, but it’s always engaging enough to make up for the obvious shortcomings.
6.5/10
This remake of Ocean's Eleven is the best heist film I have ever seen! Not only does it have a super cast and great acting, it also has an excellent plot as well. This film had smarts, great comedy, and serious attitude that mixed well. The cast all had great chemistry together especially Clooney and Pitt who seemed like they had a fun time working with each other. Ocean's Eleven is an instant classic that I'll never get tired of watching over and over again.
22 years later, this movie is so effortlessly cool and charming, it should be illegal.
While not typically a big sucker for heist films, this one is objectively pretty darn good. The cast is phenomenal, the plot is tight, the execution is satisfying. Curious how the next two compare to this one, because it will be tough to beat!

A clever heist with a somewhat satisfying reveal at the end. I’m just dying to know how they spent their money.
‘All right chaps, hang onto your knickers’
Basher’s cockney accent was horrific! I’m glad he didn’t have any more lines than he did, even if he was slightly amusing.
A pleasant enough easy watch
Has to rank as one of my all-time favorite movies. The superb cast, the storyline, the mix of intrigue and comedy, even the soundtrack… I honestly can't think of anything about this film that I didn't like. (No disrepect, but I never have seen the fascination with Julia Roberts; she just looks...weird.)
the beginning is very slow, but I'm talking about a 2001 movie, I wasn't even born, the cinema was different. Even so, I think the suspense could be greater, it seems that everything is very easy for them. A good movie, not if you watch it when you're sleepy
Never fails to disappoint,an easy film to watch when you want to switch off from the world
"Ocean's Eleven" is pure popcorn brainless entertainment, but it does its job pretty well thanks to the slick direction and the chemistry of the ensemble cast. They don't take much time to introduce each character, but they are all easy to remember and fall in love with.
Most of the things the plan is built around are either superhero film-level plausible, but I didn't mind as accurate heist movies tend to get long and verbose to the point they even end up spoiling the fun. In the following 20 years, heist films surely got bigger and smarter, but it feels like they all owe something to "Ocean's Eleven". The biggest letdown here is how clumsy Tess and Danny's relationship is, and the silly shortcuts the writers took to get them back together. Tess finds out that her new boyfriend is the ultimate asshole by watching a video from the gang, and runs back to her criminal ex-husband's arms ten minutes later? I thought he was the man that ruined her life? Now she even loves him to the point she doesn't mind waiting for him to get out of jail. It's like she has to be with either of them or get erased from the plot. Well, another proof that (over)thinking doesn't work with this kind of film.
Danny Ocean: The house always wins. Play long enough, you never change the stakes. The house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet and you bet big, then you take the house.
- Rusty Ryan: You've been practicing this speech, haven't you?”
GEORGE CLOONEY - Danny Ocean
BRAD PITT - Rusty Ryan
I had only watched this recently, my Dad used to love these films but never tried them out. I was stunned by how good it was!
This is a classic heist film and it's just so well acted/directed, but also it is super easy to follow as I never found myself confused. This cast is so legendary and it's just full of great chemistry, my favourites by far are George Clooney (Danny Ocean), Brad Pitt (Rusty Ryan), Matt Damon (Linus Caldwell) and last but not least Andy Garcia (Terry Benedict).
By Far my favourite Steven Soderbergh as it is drenched in style but also an awesome story of a man who just wants to heist a casino to teach the owner a lesson and get his ex-wife back, if you like heist films this is an essential viewing experience and just grab a big bag of popcorn.
A fun heist movie with a great cast.
A decent heist movie!
All the details are nicely woven in the plot and work. And of course an ensemble of star-actors in a luxurious setting is definitely something to see.
Though it's a one-time movie for me.
A quite fantastic film.
Great plot, brilliantly rounded cast, two main leads who just ooze charisma, incredibly tight editing, directorial flair...
It's one of those films that you enjoy watching even though you know every single step of the plot from multiple rewatches.
Its 20 years old in 2021 and watching it now, it feels as fresh as ever. The only sign of its age was the boxers who fight!
9.25/10
i can rewatch this movie ANYTIME!
George Clooney, Brad Pitt and dozens of their elite Hollywood buddies get together to remake and rejuvenate this rat pack classic from forty years prior. The end result is a slick, mildly overproduced adventure that's smart and suave, though not quite so much as it seems to think it is. Much of the movie is blown on excessive, "look what we can afford to do" antics that are, admittedly, fun to watch but ultimately do little to endear the cast to their audience.
Rather than a case of pillaging the rich to fill the coffers of the poor and desperate, this first installment of this franchise feels more like a case of the filthy rich reaching into the cookie jars of the filthier. The heist genre loses a bit of its inherent suspense when a film's protagonists have access to a garage full of police paraphernalia, server racks spilling over with imaginary "future tech" computer equipment, Italian sports cars, cushy upper deck hotel rooms and all the blueprints they'll ever need.
Clooney's charisma does buy him a degree of invulnerability to this phenomenon, which makes him an ideal centerpiece, but after the first viewing, most of the team's close calls seem far too easily resolved. With such resources, Beavis & Butt-Head could have a pretty good shot at making off with a casino's millions. Good for a few action spots, at least.
Steven Soderbergh delivers a modern take on the Rat Pack classic Ocean’s Eleven. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, and Julia Roberts lead an all-star cast that delivers some really good performances. And, the film does an excellent job updating the casino heist to reflect the new Las Vegas of the 21st century. However, the storytelling is rather weak and doesn’t develop the characters or the heist well enough to get invested in. Yet despite its problems, Ocean’s Eleven is a fun and lighthearted film that’s wonderfully entertaining.
The Good:
The Bad:
Verdict:
A timeless heist movie supported by a splendid cast and superb dramatic moments, its clever writing will keep you watching to the very end.
Took me a few years to finally watch this movie as I wanted to be prepared for Ocean's 8. I honestly expected more. It's a good movie but I was not hooked. Cool ideas but I think I didn't get it all.
Most of the time remakes are not a good idea. Usually is messes with the story and leaves a bad taste in our mouths about the original even if it's far better. There are some exceptions like 'The Departed' by Martin Scorsese, and this film. Ocean's Eleven.
Ocean's Eleven is a smart heist film. bringing together an all star cast from George Clooney to Matt Damon. All the actors in the film do a good job at pulling off what their characters do. Very believable. There are a few people in the Eleven that their jobs are miniscule and it's the lesser known actors. A lot to most of the screentime goes to Clooney, Pitt, and Damon. which works fine. However I saw another comment that mentioned Don Cheadles english accent is terrible and God damn he's right. complete shit accent and it kind of takes you out of the film whenever he talks.
There's a plot hole in the film that if you watch carefully you can tell what it is but won't mention it here for spoilers.
Overall it's a very solid film and a good first film in for a trilogy. Definitely a watch especially since all three films are on Netflix as of today Feb 1, 2018
Nothing brightens up a wet Sunday like watching Clooney & Co do their thing.
This probably doesn’t rank as high as Out of Sight for me, but it’s impossible to resist the slick charm of this film. Steven Soderburgh is one of the best directors on there and I’m so glad he’s getting back on the scene this year. And with another heist film! Can’t wait!
Don Cheadle has one of the worst English accents in cinema history.

I did not care about this mediocre action flick and its all-star cast (in parts probably because I dislike Julia Roberts and George Clooney is not one of my favorites, either).
Very good movie. Very entertaining.
Just a shame with the big plothole.
