What I expected was some cringy gaming-themed coming of age comedy. What I got was a really entertaining piece of film. While in no way on a Hollywood level you can feel that this was made by someone to whom it was important to portrait the aspects of video and role playing games in a way that's relatable and lovable. Of course you have some dorky moments and cliches but in the end I'd really recommend this to anyone who ever had a phase in their youth where the game (really, any game) was more important than the next day at school.

Go watch it on netflix if you can: https://www.netflix.com/de-en/title/80162197
