Omen IV: The Awakening 1991

The previous movies were kinda bad. But in a good way and I thoroughly enjoyed them. There is absolutely nothing good about this one. The characters. The acting. The deaths don't even make sense. Of course paganism is misrepresented, like always. But the absolute worst of all is the music. Fluttering piccolo like you expect in a child's movie about magic. To me, The Omen is a trilogy. The last one rounded off the story well.

The kind of trash you find in the DVD section at your local dollar store. Camp B-movie all the way and laughable. I usually like those when the fun outweighs the seriousness but it's not the case here, it's just a bad mix of both and the instances of comedy rarely land.

As a retelling of the original it feels different enough but it's nothing new. The child actress is decent, she's definitely creepy. The kills are a mixed bag, they're done in a PG-13 way with no blood (except one) and we rarely see the person actually die but some of the editing makes them good like the boulder kill followed by an egg being smashed. Bad music choices and timing, the Looney Tunes-ish score doesn't work in a moment of terror, sorry.

I was kinda going along with the mystery for most of this but such an awful ending and the final twist was so predictable and uninspired. Worst in the franchise yet.

it’s a slapstick, the score is totally off, acting is just horrible. The nuns slapping each other is hilarious. Put in a Christmas-tree and you got a lifetime movie

edit: OMG.. there are christmas tree’s and carolers! My life is complete:heart:

I knew Sarah Silverman was the anti Christ! LOL. I don't understand the reason for this movie, the last one closed the history arc perfectly and in this one a lot of things were unexplained.

Less of a continuation and more of a reboot, Omen IV: The Awakening is extraordinarily bad. The plot is pretty much the same as the first film with some switching of gender roles; a congressman and his wife adapt a daughter, but when she exhibits some strange behaviors the wife grows concerned and hires a P.I. to investigate. Most of the changes are terrible, especially the replacing of biblical prophecy with New Age spiritualism. But even more atrocious is the score, which is more comedic than frightening. Omen IV: The Awakening is a horribly misconceived film and an embarrassment to the franchise.
