This film undoubtedly has its own merit. A powerful story with an amazing performance by Brando at its front, but after reading some of the backstory of the director and screenwriter, the politics behind this movie feel very questionable. Still, I’ve been curious to see Brando’s earlier roles and he did not disappoint. He makes the movie for me.
A classic - a Brando classic.
Good movie, just not amazing! A real fast and easy view, nonetheless. What is amazing, is Marlon Brando’s conflicted character. Great acting from a legend.
As with many older films, it took me a while to get into "On the Waterfront." But once I did, I was completely immersed in it. Marlon Brando delivers a fantastic performance as the main character, Terry, and most of the other acting is top-notch as well. At the same time, the film is an intriguing milieu study of dockworkers' lives in postwar New York, as well as the influence of corrupt and mob-controlled unions. Sre, it's all a bit of an exaggerated portrayal, but it's effective all the same. The whole film experience is rounded out by strong cinematography as well as the fitting score by Leonard Bernstein. With modern eyes, "On the Waterfront" may be a bit of a slog, but it is still a rewarding experience all the way through.
This holds up really well. Marlon Brando is great, I only really know him from The Godfather so I want to check out more of his work. The story is pretty simple but still interesting. A classic for a reason.
A fantastic look at dealing with corruption in the lives of blue collar workers. Brando and Marie give some awesomely powerful performances, which gives some real weight to some of the issues dealt with in the film.
Cinema Paco 2 Image 3.5/5. Sound 3/5. Mythical film thai I had not yet seen, I found very good and with great performances

Man, they don't make adult dramas like this anymore. Now this is a real superhero.
