A fun, ridiculous, very very subpar Jaws ripoff. There are about 8 absolutely hysterical closeups on the whale's eye looking very menacingly at Richard Harris. So great. I am impressed with their whale footage. With the exception of the hilarious close ups on a the whale out of the water staring at boats like he's the angry chicken from Family Guy, it was very hard to tell what was the rubber whale and what was real footage. How did they do the shots of a whale angrily running into boats?
7/10
Good one from my
Childhood and this movie
is definitely it's own thing
away from Jaws.
Nolan was a horrible
annoying insufferable
bastard all the way through
through the movie, a complete
and utter Dick and
Annie was so annoying
all the way through too
as well, she was no better
than that twat.
Everyone else in this
movie definitely picked up
the slack from them two
and apart from
Annie and Nolan Everyone
else put in a solid enough
performance.
I will say the shot footage
and the editing was absolutely amazing and breathtaking
especially for the time,
I was actually blown away
how Great it actually was
and the Whale it's self was
Amazing so life like and
looking so real, that put
any cgi garbage to shame
even by today's standards,
(especially by today's
Standards).
The theme tune is
so haunting and fits
the movie perfectly,
I loved it.
The Special effects were
Great and the story was
really well thoughtout to
give us something different
than what Jaws was
Knocking out at the time.
(I don't ever remember
Rooting for the Shark
in a Jaws movie
or ever having genuine
concern for the Sharks
wellbeing), but i sure
did feel Orca's pain
throughout this movie,
and I was Rooting for him
the entire time.
All in all a good movie
as part of my Nostalgia
list of days gone by,
one I have fond memories
of,
plus how can you go wrong
with the Stunningly
Gorgeous
Beautiful "Bo Derek"
(Holy-smokes now
that takes me back
to my OG Tarzan days).
After all these decades
passed I really enjoyed
the rewatch of
Orca, The Killer Whale
(they don't make em
like they uste too).
An attempt to build on the success of Jaws.
The best Jaws rip-off I've seen and better than any of the sequels. Was rooting for the whale the whole time!
A surprisingly tragic and moving animal attack/revenge thriller. This one had been sitting on my shelf for a while and I finally got around to watching it. I'm generally not a big fan of the genre of oversized animal attacking people, they usually feel too similar and has quite a stretched story. Turned out it's really good and way more serious than I had assumed. The idea of an animal seeking vengeance is so silly and the film somehow manages to pull it off fairly well with the serious tone it's going for as it has actual characters and decent performances. Some of the cinematography is excellent and there's a lot of strong technical qualities as well but let's be real, the perfect fitting and mesmerizing Ennio Morricone score does the real heavy lifting. All in all, this is awesome.

Where the flak come from, I don't know, as this is a rather effective killer animal movie. It's one of the better Jaws ripoffs anyway. The animatronic whale is even more convincing than Brucie the shark... It's a pretty harsh movie, even if it goes a little over-the-top. This is one fish you don't want to mess with. You know you done messed up when a killer whale burns down a village trying to get to you...
