Really good movie. It's emotional. Jennifer Garner does an amazing job portraying this character. Never, even for a second you'd think that she is a bad person even after killing so many people.
No idea why the movie is called Peppermint since the only time this word is mentioned is when the little girl orders Peppermint ice cream.
A run of the mill action 'vigilante' film, with ultimately forgettable characters and performances. Decent enough to see for free, but wouldn't recommend paying to see it.
Solid action movie, revenge type, maybe should have been called "Jane Wick" or "She Punisher". Jennifer Garner does a great job in drama and is really believable in action scenes, she still has it from her "Alias" days.
Man it's good to see Jennifer Garner get back to her roots. I kinda want to see her in a comic book character role but I also kinda want her to do her own thing.
Now the truth about Peppermint is that it doesn't do anything special. It's a revenge action movie just like you expect it to be. The good news is... it's the revenge action movie you expect it to be. I actually prefer to this The Equalizer 2 which I kind of expected more out of and which positioned itself to be more than it was. Peppermint is just the story of a girl who loses everything and then has to kill people to get some semblance. It's a fun ride actually. The action scenes aren't fantastic but they're good. Which is how I would describe the entire film. May this be the first in many of the rise of Jennifer Garner's 2.0 action generation.
I remember her from Alias and hell she didn't age at all! As for the movie, it was fine, Jennifer was perfect for the role and I think that she would make a good she-punisher.
In this movie, Jennifer Garner plays a woman that takes justice into her own hands after witnessing and experiencing an incredible crime for which no one gets punished due to the corrupt justice system in the US. Because of this, our hero has to fight both, a drug cartel as well as the justice system, who see her actions as a criminal act of terrorism.
To keep it short: This movie has it's moments and is in its entirety nice to watch. However, compared to the overwhelming competition with movies such as John Wick, The Equalizer or Atomic Blonde, this movie does not risk anything - no interesting stunts, no interesting fight choreographics, no interesting dolly shots - all scenes that could be interesting are cut together from different takes and are so fast paced that makes you loose interest. Jennifer Garners performance is in general all right but the one or other scene even she is not as believable as you would wish. And the plot is totally foreseeable.
Still it's a nice movie for a diverting evening - but nothing you have to see, and especially not at cinemas.

I really liked this movie. well put together and great story line.
I find the first part a little too fast. She is condemned. And then you don't see the 3 killers being slaughtered first. Also the lawyer I would have liked to see him go down. Then the action really gets underway. It's definitely a good movie.

Badass Jenifer. Another movie taking revenge for killing the partner and the child. This time not a he, she. SO do the math for such movie. You can guess the end easily. But nevertheless you will enjoy watching this movie.
Every so often, you see a trailer for a movie and you just KNOW what the movie will be like, what are the major story beats, who the good guys are, who the bad guys are and who is going to win. But then, what is really awesome is if you like the movie anyway. Let's face it....this is an updated, gender switched Death Wish. Except this might actually live up to that name more than that movie did. It is fun with just oodles and oodles of violence. I hope people find this one, because it is fun and great performance by Garner deserves recognition. 8/10

Jennifer Garner brought everything you could want from her role, unfortunately the writer and director didn't give her much of a movie. Garner 8 (Great), Writing/Directing - 5 (Meh). Garner gave us a depth between sensitivity and cold justice, proving to us once again that she is worthy of demanding action roles. The production, unfortunately, was flat and monotone, with lots of over the top situations but no substance, which lead to inevitable outcomes without any texture or meaning. It ended up with hype but no WOW. I give this film a 6 (fair) out of 10. One critic mused that it would have benefited from more women behind the camera to give it a more nuanced tone. I tend to think that a correct assessment, substituting a talented female lead for a male action hero does not make a convincing female action story. [Action]

LOVED! LOVED! LOVED this movie! Jennifer Garner is a total badass which is in total opposition of her character. How many of us dream of doing just this if we were in the same situation?! I started this movie with zero expectations & was just blown away. Well worth a watch!

Garner is excellent in this role and brings a lot of intensity to her performance. And the action sequences and fight scenes are extraordinarily exciting and dynamic. Yet, the film refrains from any gratuitous blood or gore; keeping the violence quick and rapid as North methodically takes out henchmen. Incredibly entertaining, Peppermint is a high-adrenaline action-film.

Too much dark action making it hard to see what was going on was my only real complaint other then we’ve seen this movie a hundred times before.

The producers tried so hard to create a meetoo era female action hero. that they kind of forgot to make her relatable or realistic.

Every character, save for the protagonist (whose name I've forgotten), is too simple to care about.
The fast tempo of the film means most things feel terriböy rushed and unbelievable.
The script lacks proper explanation or exposition to most things and the film tells us many things without showing it to us, so we're forced to fill in the gaps.
Are we supposed to believe that the protagonist went from bank official to superhero just like that?
There's a lack of real challenge and tension.
The character building and the relationships are forced.
Terrible movie. Very badly edited and all. There is no correct flow, no character development. Part of a revenge movie is for you to enjoy the revenge parts. You don't here. You don't see them.
Also the best part of a revenge movie is to see how a character changes and starts to do that stuff. Here she goes from normal to Rambo in no time, you don't even see it.
Really nice action movie with a brilliant acting performance by Jennifer Garner. It definitely reminded me of her time on Alias which I still consider as one of the best shows ever. But Peppermint is surely more brutal and completely different when it comes to the character that Garner portraits. I really hope they continue this story in some way as I would love to see her getting more into action again.
A rip-roaring good time in the vein of Taken and the John Wick movies, this fact-paced actioner puts the lead character in an impossible situation and lets her rise to the challenge. Riley North has the character arc of character arcs, and plot has bad guys, conspiracies and red herrings galore. Well done. And P.S. why isn't Jennifer Garner in three action movies a year? She kicks so much butt in this movie, it's the spiritual sequel to her years on "Alias."

It's a good movie, but is too generic. Garner and Raba were fine.
Peppermint is like microwave lasagna: it's cold in the middle and even if it's hot at the ends it still isn't at all fresh. But I'll hate it less than you. ;-)
I didn’t have the highest expectations of this, but I ended up very impressed. Garner did a great job with the role. The 5 year gap where she trained is all a mystery, and I wish they put some clips of the training in there.
Graphic scenes, emotions all over the place, solid acting with a good twist or 2. Expecting a sequel, “Peppermint: The Second Scoop” and I’ll happily see it in theaters.
Overall I thought the movie was fairly decent. Though predictable, and a little overdone plot wise, I felt the movie was solid straight up until the end when it fell apart. Still an enjoyable ride and a fun revenge movie nonetheless.
I think it was a really good movie. I hope to see a part 2 come out.

this movie is perfectly fine sure it's not a groundbreaking Epic but it does what it's trying to do perfectly well which is be a entertaining action Revenge movie centered around a female lead
there's a few logic gaps here and there
and some story threads that are not really necessary
but overall if you're a fan of this kind of genre then you probably will enjoy this movie just fine
