The biggest risk in life is not taking one.
Catherine is a woman in her late twenties who is strongly devoted to her father, Robert, a brilliant and well-known mathematician whose grip on reality is beginning to slip away. As Robert descends into madness, Catherine begins to wonder if she may have inherited her father’s mental illness along with his mathematical genius. When Robert’s work reveals a mathematical proof of potentially historic proportions, it sets off shock waves in more ways than one.

It's so funny how I can relate to both women in this movie. I feel like both of them have really real strong acceptable reasons why they are the way they are and why they act the way they act.
I can defend them both individually. When I saw the movie on my own, I had real strong feelings for Catherine, because she's misunderstood and people think she's crazy. When I saw it with my sister, she had the same feelings for Catherine, which made me feel like I had to stand up for Hope Davis' character: she's just trying to live her life and help Catherine the way she thinks it's best.
I do really feel like both of them are perfectly right to do what they do.
Great movie!
