Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 2022

The Dreamworks Renaissance is officially here. This is their best work since Kung Fu Panda 2 and the best Shrek film since Shrek 2. Can not fucking wait for what this studio has in store for the future now.

Shockingly good. WAY better than it has any right to be.

Loved this movie. I watched it earlier with the kids and it was great. Lots of jokes and action. The story was also really good.

Harvey Guillen as Perro absolutely steals the show though. That little chihuahua had the entire theater cracking up every time it was on the screen.

Can you believe that a freaking Puss In Boots movie has a more frightening antagonist than any of the damn Marvel flicks that came out this year?

loading replies

My favourite character in both of the movies is that one cat who puts his hand on his mouth and says: "ooohhh". (✷‿✷)

loading replies

Wow! A 2020+ Universal animation with talent and pride put into their works. Please Universal more Dreamworks films like this and less cheap Illumination films.

loading replies

One of my favorite representations of Death in visual media.

loading replies

FLORENCE PUGH JUST GOT CAST IN THIS OMG

loading replies

Let the star from the sky give back the original graphics, the cartoon-comic one in the action scenes didn't suit me a bit. ;>

loading replies

Love this series, but the final installation was so disappointing. Maybe the producers shouldn’t have got their last wish?

loading replies

Wow. What a beautiful, stunning animated film. This oozes style and charm. Loved it.

loading replies

This is a really good movie. Brings back the old feeling of watching these cartoons.

This movie rocks, and is a huge improvement on the first film. As much as I love the first film, this one's just on a whole other level. The most obvious improvement is the animation, which is so alive and filled with color that makes it pop. The first film was also well animated, but not nearly to this degree. The fight scenes are also fantastic, especially with death. Speaking of death, wow has he got to be one of the best villains in dreamworks history. WAY better than humpty ever was in the first, which is probably my biggest criticism of the first. Whenever death showed up, chills ran down puss's spine and mine. Watching puss confront his mortality for the first time in his many lives is extremely touching, and the character arc he goes through is just fantastic. In the first film he didn't change much as a character, so I'm glad this movie exists. This movie isn't a masterpiece, but it's a damn near perfect sequel, and I can't recommend it enough.

I love the dynamic between perrito, kitty softpaws and puss it's perfect for a movie. I cannot wait for the next one

loading replies

Suprised me how good it is.

Humor was great, animation top notch and the fight scenes were amazingly done,

loading replies

Nicely animated sequel that is better than the original.

loading replies

Doesn't the Jiminy cricket conscious sound like jimmy stewart? Is that a "it's a wonderful life" reference?

loading replies

suprisingly revived modern western animation

loading replies

No one expected Puss in Boots to go this hard. Easily the best Dreamworks movie since How to Train Your Dragon.

loading replies

It's really good, much better than the first one. The animation is amazing. I like the style where they animate some scenes at a slower framerate.

loading replies

Animation that’s this stunning is really rare. God, this movie is made beautifully. The story is great, really mature in some ways, and it has some amazing jokes. Sure, it’s a kids movie, but this was really awesome.

loading replies

A movie with surprising depth. An inspiring message about family, life, and death

loading replies

A fun adventure for all ages. I don't think it was all it was hyped up to be but regardless this is a solid film with a great story, amazing visuals, anime style fights and some pretty wholesome heartwarming moments. I enjoyed it one of dreamworks best in a while. Give us Shrek 5.

man that art was exquisite! the plot was decent too, not childish like i was expecting!

Contrary to what happens with the adventures of the franchise that saw the birth of the character, the Puss in Boots saga has managed to get better with this second part. While its first spin-off didn't get more than a passing grade, the sequel has gone further both narratively and technically, gaining personality on its own.

All this accompanied by very interesting characters with their own personality, of course keeping those winks to the popular tales that identify the Shrek universe. In the case of "The Wolf" (with which we will not go into too much detail), it is a very interesting twist to the character and we personally loved it.

The change of animation in the fight scenes for a style almost close to stop-motion gives it a very interesting style, and it is appreciated that in the spanish version professional voice actors are kept (not to mention the voice of Antonio Banderas who repeats with El Gato) at a time when so many celebrities are used instead of professionals.

I'd go as far as to say this is an animated masterpiece. A near-perfect family movie. Puss In Boots: The Last Wish blows the first movie out of the water and delivers one of Dreamwork's best films ever. It touches upon themes of mortality, love, friendship, growth, and more in such an engaging way. The character development of Puss is a sight to behold. This movie is highly memorable and rewatchable. 10/10

Why am I crying so heavily? How come I burst into tears from nowhere after hearing "Our world became just right"?
Such a simple formula beautifully strengthened by a masterful story.

loading replies

I just LOVED it. It's such a good vibe movie that will put a smile on your face at the end of it.

Loved all the characters, even the secondary ones. They just make sense and really add to the story, which has been rare in recent movies

Anyway, go watch it!

loading replies

This wasn’t as good as people acted like it was. That dog was so annoying

loading replies

i want a solo spin off movie about that talking cricket being put in horrific ethical dilemmas

loading replies

better than any other supes released in recent years in terms of story villain and character arc

loading replies

The animation was not bad, and Banderas with the cat was remarkable. The plot was not overly childish as other similar American movies, but similarly was a bit flat and uninspiring. It gained some traction for the numerous citations from traditional fairy tales and Disney films, but it was not the first time the same producer used the same expedient.

This was a good ending(?) to the series, it was funny and edgy for an animated movie. There were large swaths of the movie, though, where CGI was thrown out the window and it feels like you are watching 90's era animation, almost comic book style - perhaps that was intentional but it was distracting to see a high-def Puss one second then a low-def "comic book style" Puss fighting a villain.

For me it's not a keeper, just a one-time watch, but it was cute.

What a beautiful sequel (both in style & story)

Although it is aimed at children, this movie was pretty funny and the primary antagonist 'Death' was awesome! Only negative... Olivia Colman's talent wasn't exactly prominent!

loading replies

That ending man, THAT ENDING, that melody and the Far Far Away city... I'm so nostalgic now... Give me more shrek-verse!

loading replies

Can't go wrong with this series. Plus n boys is and forever will be entertaining watch. This follows it's own plot not to far from it's predecessors. Action packed connect make for a fun watch for the entire family

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Fun adventure and good humour once again. Tops the first installment slightly which is a solid achievement.
Recommend. 7.6

liked the way they made some of fight scenes ;it really felt 3D and immersive ; the singing parts @ Antonio Banderas could have been better. overall a good movie.

loading replies

This is so funny :joy:

This movie is absolutely incredible. It is Top 5 animated movies for me ALL TIME, and I can only name the original Shrek as being outwardly better. Despite being a family family, it was quite mature themed and is almost more targeted at grandparents that would be watching with grandchildren. If you have not watched this yet, please do so!

Rating: 5/5 - 9.5/10 - Highly Recommend

I loved the wolf so much that if I wasn't a doctor I would tattoo him on my arm

since the first five minutes i immediately knew i would LOVE this movie, ever since i saw the trailer for it, i couldn't wait to finally watch it and i loved every minute of it, the attention to detail and the direction they took with the animation style and the story is just PERFECT;

the voice acting was exceptional, and the side characters, even those were so well voiced and written, i especially loved Goldilock's character, and once i found out it was none other than Florence Pugh voicing her? instant like.

whenever the villain's whistle melody started playing, literal chills, such a fun story, with so many well choreographed and directed action scenes, funny times as well, and amazing characters & story overall

& that song at the end? it had me dancing through the whole end credit scenes

What happened and who threw money at this?

I'll be honest I saw the original, thought it was ok nothing stellar, when my friend suggested seeing this sequel I was like eh sure, I barely remember the first, but I'll prob enjoy it. .... all I can say is It blew me away.

The first 10 mins in and I was like ok this is a step up, by the end I was singing its praises, its rare for a sequel to be better than the original but I believe this is one of those rare cases. It has on point animation, great humor and plenty of action sequences, well worth a watch.

loading replies

I was surprised how good this was, the action scenes reminded me of spider-man enter the spiderverse and that’s a good thing. The comedy and writing for this title was great and well done, a great family movie night for all to enjoy and be fully engaged in.

loading replies

Loved this movie. The animation and story was amazing. Hope they keep making more.

Amazing movie ! We really enjoyed it, it has the old cartoon movie vibe which i miss a lot

"I was there to witness all of them. Each frivolous end. But you didn't even notice me, because Puss in Boots always laughs in the face of death, right? But you're not laughing now."

I never expected a sequel to from a spin-off of a franchise that was relevant 20 years ago to be this much fun! Loved the animation, really liked the story and Puss in Boots is still the best part about the Far Far Away-verse.

Give this little kitty a chance and you'll be amazed. Loved the jokes, loved the references. Good job Dream Works!

Lots of adventure. Great voice work. Beautiful animation. Great family fun. I give this film a 9 (superb) out of 10.

Rated a Connor 10, normal 9.6

loading replies

Think I actually enjoyed this more than the original film. Great story and just a lot of fun. The animation was great and loved how it changed during the fight scenes.

loading replies

The movie had excellent animation, with cute and visually appealing animals. The story was decent, making it an enjoyable watch overall.

loading replies

Overall good. Love the new art style and direction of Dreamworks. The jokes were a little cheesy, the villains all cheap and cookie cutter.

My favorite parts were the main 3 heroes sharing the screen, especially the dog.

loading replies

Very traditional hero story. The dog is sooooo cute!!!

loading replies

This was such a fun movie! The art style was creative and pleasant to watch. The story, although a bit formulaic, was entertaining and meaningful.

The Shrek universe retained its original charm.

loading replies

They did a great job for almost everything, the comedy, the horror, the fairytales, the plot, the moral messages, everything. The characters all get their screentime. The visuals are also so gorgeous. Thank you Dreamworks, keep up the good work:pray:. Shrek 5 when? Kung Fu Panda 4 when?

loading replies

I was not expecting to like this, if I'm being honest. The first movie was pretty bad imo, but this one was quite good. It goes a little too hard in some aspects, but it's tightly written. I really liked that. Goldi was my favorite character.

Also, the production was stellar, especially the camera work. There's obviously an artistic whiplash with the first movie, but whatever, it looks incredible and I prefer this one.

Although Trix may be for kids, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, is for the child in heart that sometimes, in the midst of "adulting", we neglect, in lieu of acting like a grown-up.

The voice casting was perfection, with Antonio Banderas once again taking on the role of the "Stabby Tabby, Leche Whispering hero we didn't know we needed, and Salma Hayek reprising her role as the soft pawed Kitty with an attitude, just looking for someone she can truly trust. Harvey Guillen is the newest edition, rounding out our adventurous trio as "Perrito". a tiny dog, we first meet, pretending to be a cat, so he can score some steady grub. Florence Pugh is also a standout, as she doffs her Black Widow costume for something a little more renaissance as Goldilocks, who doesn't realize that her wish has already been granted.

the Story has lots of laugh out loud moments, as well as attention holding animation, a fun musical score, and a storyline with a moral arc, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a tail for our own time.

Very touching movie. The storie was pretty decent. Good movie overall

"I am Death. And I don't mean it metaphorically or rhetorically or poetically or theoretically or any other fancy way. I AM DEATH. STRAIGHT UP!"

What started as a typical kids/family movie, 5-10 minutes in, but as soon as Puss first fights the wolf character, which ends with blood running down the cat’s face, then having his life flashes before his eyes, and feeling absolute fear. After that scene, I knew this be better than the first movie and my expectations beforehand.

Eleven years later, the sequel surpassed the first film in terms of animation, humour, and mature themes.

I am honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this one.
