Quarantine 2008

A fair remake, but it doesn't better than the original one though. Despite uses the found-footage format, it doesn't feel like as it. The budget for this movie makes it less convincing, it's just another zombie film. You can't feel some empathy for the building's inhabitants like it does happen in the original one. There were some scenes that I liked though but the original movie keeps being better.

Quarantine is an American remake of a Spanish film that has a unique vision and delivers some terrifying thrills. Shot in a documentary style, the film follows a firefighter team that is being shadowed on their rounds by a news crew and ends up being quarantined inside of an apartment complex when a viral outbreak starts turning people into ravenous, bloodthirsty killers. Jennifer Carpenter leads the cast and gives an outstanding performance that really sells the “found footage” style. Also, the storytelling is especially well-done, and has a good pace that keeps the plot moving while sustaining the terror and suspense as the situation gets more dire. Frighteningly entertaining, Quarantine is an intense and exciting horror film.

It's pretty much a carbon copy of [Rec], only with different actors. Were they going for some kind of Pierre Menard effect? They should probably wait a century if so. I just don't get it.
