Rain Man 1988

It's almost 25 years old, I've seen it a dozen times, and I still like it :)
The movie is slow, looks old, Tom Cruise is already annoying, but after a while this movie will make you laugh, make you wonder, make you lose track of time, and it's one of the best feelgood movies ever! Dustin Hoffman is amazing to watch in one of the most memorable roles I've ever seen.

I loved the contrast between the two brothers here. I teared up more times now as an adult with a better understanding than I did when I saw it as a younging. The change in Tom Cruise's character through the course of the film along with Raymond (Rain Man)'s dialogue just gets me in the feels every step of the way. It's very similar to I Am Sam (2001) and Heart of Dragon (1985) both of which I also haven't seen for over fifteen years. I admire the scenes in Las Vegas with the typical shimmering "sparkly" city night lights and the view of the sunset across the city through the apartment window. I dream of going there someday and spending time with a special someone and connecting with them. The soundtrack is really nice too, especially the main theme from Hans Zimmer, having a calming melodic flute lead and tribal percussive drums just add to the atmosphere. Prepare for an emotional ride before diving into this one folks. :heart_exclamation::cry:

I used to dislike Tom Cruise as a little man with huge ego. Over the years I gradually start to like him or at least stop disliking. And now I finally watch this famous movie with Dustin Hoffman and I think that they are both just as good because it's not easy to work together with someone who doesn't want to cooperate. And this collaboration gave the brilliant effect of real brotherhood connection which can be seen during the whole movie. The second great thing here is music, not obtrusive but irreplaceable, it's more than just a background.

I recognize the attempt to make a heartfelt story about two brothers getting along, Charlie supporting Raymond and recognizing his talents in light of his autism, but the entire movie felt unmoving, uneventful, and lacking any profound message.

Yeah, be open-minded about people. Listen to them, appreciate their talents, know that you're not better than them, find value in them.

The first 40 minutes of the movie are especially boring. I struggled to keep my attention on it. It seems that Rain Man tries to be heartfelt, deep, and profound instead of entertaining, but it doesn't succeed at either.

I didn't learn anything. I didn't feel much. Just a movie.

Not the film I was expecting, at all. Tom cruise was excellent but Dustin Hoffmann steals the show, not surprised he won an Oscar for this performance. Can also see why this is a best picture winner, a very moving film even if it’s quite formulaic.

I'm not enamored with this movie as everyone else. I find it irritating up until the 80th minute when they finally go into the casino. Tom Cruise playing the most unapologetic asshole role in his career and Dustin Hoffman with the kind of performance that is problematic today.

Rain Man is a classic that showcases the incredible acting talents of Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. As Charlie and Raymond embark on a journey together, we witness their complicated relationship unfold and the deep bond that forms between them. Hoffman's portrayal of Raymond is remarkable, capturing the nuances of his character's condition with sensitivity and depth. Rain Man is a moving film that has stood the test of time.

Not much I can say about this film other than that it is a brilliant representation of autism in a contemporary world. Along with it being a heartwarming and slightly comedic film the acting was absolutely superb on all fronts.

It’s really good. Duff Hoffman is fantastic as Raymond Babbitt. Tom Cruise is annoying at first but you grow to like him. It’s slow but in a good way. It is directed well and written good. The score is great. Overall it’s a classic 80’s movie that is emotional and has good humor.
