Ravenous 1999

The score to this film is absolutely wonderful and haunting

Creepy relationship (supernatural) with human meat. Very illogical outcomes at times. Repetitive ideas and scenarios instead of character development or interesting plot. It does have some good moments.

Some dislike the music. I think Damon Albarn had a hand in it. So if you're wondering why there is a cheesy organ from a Blur type song, this is probably why.

Wow a twisted, horror, western, dark comedy with a really great cast. Not really sure how I missed this in the late 90s.

Interesting and darkly funny western about manifest Destiny. Some call it a cannibal comedy, but I don't think it's outright comedy, so much as a thriller with a few funny and absurd moments.

Great first half of movie, but so generic second part. Also that unique sound effects and music is so atmospheric that I will remember thay until the end of my life.

Fairly unique in its apporach, but the fairly generic directing and ridiculously awful sound effects / music. its a film that would do good as a remake.

"Ravenous" boasts an interesting and fresh setting, a rather out-of-place yet somehow energizing score, and strong performances from the actors. Essentially, a western story is combined with a cannibal plot, which works well for the most part. At times, however, the movie doesn't quite know whether it would have preferred to be a comedy, only to be deadly serious again in the next moment. Unfortunately, the first half of the movie is much stronger than the second, in which the pace is noticeably slowed down. While there are still a few genuinely crass scenes and strong character moments at the beginning, boredom sets in more and more frequently later on. The plot also becomes increasingly ridiculous as the movie progresses. Despite the promising start, "Ravenous" ultimately did not leave me satisfied in the end.
