Holy crap what an overrated film.
This was highly disturbing. I didn't enjoy seeing any of it, at all, which is the only reason I didn't give it a higher score. But from an objective stand-point everything about this movie is superb. Directing, acting, editing, all that jazz. All of it is perfectly made and the message is powerful although obvious. I don't usually feel sorry for people when they're the ones who fucked themselves up but this time I could tell that none of the characters actually wanted this and they were incapable of thinking for themselves and they just needed help. So fucking sad. The last 20 minutes or so will haunt me for a long time, if not forever.
I've been crying for 20 minutes straight.
Some heavy shizzle, but message received loud and clear. Drugs are bad, and don't even think about trying it out.
Charcters were completely boring to watch. He music got annoying. The imagery was a bunch of cliché drug stuff. The messages were obvious.
A really haunting film about what addiction can do to people. Depression; Anxiety; Loneliness; and Oppression all undertake the lives of Requiem for a Dream’s four protagonists—Harry Goldfarb, Sara Goldfarb, Marion Silver, and Tyrone C. Love.
Drug addiction has always been portrayed in cinema, however, never as intelligently and authentically as Darren Aronofsky portrayed it in this film. It has never been portrayed so cruel, and heartbreaking, really touching on the weak and horrendous that comes within drugs.
This movie really made me question so much. I have broken down many times. I have experienced minor depression and have anxiety, however, never had I ever imagined how disturbing other individuals’ can experience it. Not only did it make me question drug intake, but It really made me question, “How far can depression go?” “How far can anxiety go?” “Can loneliness really go that intense?”
Coming from someone who has had experience in such activity—depression, anxiety, loneliness, and more—Requiem for a Dream greatly frightened the shit out of me but also captivated me so fucking much and taught me a lesson. It literally is in my top 20 favourite films. Aronofsky is a genius for making this film. Requiem for a Dream is a complete original alongside films that legit glorify depression and anxiety labelling it as “trendy", “edgy" and “angsty.” Those films literally need to end and go to hell for glorifying such harmful illnesses.
this a movie you wouldn't consider re-watching ever. very disturbing.
This is why I don't take drugs.
One of the greatest movies of all the time!
I cannot begin to describe the emotional hit this film gave at the end.
I bursted into tears and lament along side fear, uncomfortable and horror. Everything about this film was nearly flawless. Everyopne involved gave their A-Game, even funny black man and the Joker baby.
The story is told in a realy creative way i havent seen since probably Fear and loathing in las Vegas. The style was excellent, the I am Alone scene was incredible. The ending was perfect.
Jesus.
Go watch this movie, cause, is there any other reason to keep living?
A great movie that shows how dreams and lives can be destroyed by drugs
brutal, brilliant and a must see
Kinda depressing, yet strangely beautiful. Visually stunning.
This is why I don't take drugs.
Good movie, but put's you on a psychological low after watching it.
a greek tragedy about vulnerability and connection, violence and control
I didn't enjoy this film. I found it hard to get through, and the music - despite being good - annoyed me. There's also something about Jared Leto that just rubs me the wrong way - I find him annoying. I also found that the entire movie felt very outdated. Would not watch it again.
Probably shouldn’t have watched this while depressed and at 5 in the morning.
editing is saur good. there are lot interesting things interwoven
Don’t do drugs kids .
Don't overdo it with drugs kids. Or your dreams will be ruined.

Such incredibly beautiful music wasted on such a meh film.
I haven't seen this in a long time and I forgot how disturbing and stressful this movie is. I'm glad I rewatched this but I don't plan to watch this again any time soon. The last 30 minutes will haunt you. The editing and sound in this are both fantastic. Ellen Burstyn gives an amazing performance.
This gives me a new perspective about that kind of people. Very eye-opening, I must say.
It's really over dramatized, unintentionally funny (ass2ass is absolutely hilarious when you take it out of context), and hard to watch a lot but it makes it's point very strongly and effectively.
I sincerely feel this movie boasts a tender journey set on a rough course and the mixture is a.trip one wishes to view over and over again...
Finally watched Darren Aronofsky's well proclaimed Requiem for a Dream. Such an heartbreaking story.
The way Aronofsky's chose to tell this story is great, through an extremely original visual style and a great editing, he transformed this film into an unique piece.
Powerful and strongly graphic with a very important purpose, after all the main message of this film is an anti-drugs message. I guess this might be one of the most depressing and tragic films ever with a flawless acting by all of the cast.
Jesus Christ. Well. I guess dont do drugs. Made me feel pretty bad tbh.
A truly terrifying movie. Really makes you feel awful.
If there ever was a movie to show why drugs are bad, it's this one. They couldn't just be happy taking a few drugs could they.
Well, the last 15/20 minutes weren’t pleasant. Still, this is a very powerful movie with some great performances. I think this is the most realistic portrayal of drug abuse out there, which makes it important for people to see. Be careful out there!
Incredible as a film. I even think it's my favorite of all.
The story is heartbreaking. The film is really well shot, the shots of the scenes with the music give an atmosphere that is so realistic and unhealthy at the same time that we ourselves feel their descent into hell.
This has to be one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen.
The editing and music are just so good. That adds up to such a powerful movie.
Maybe it's because I've seen it many times but I think the disturbing or depressing aspect gets exaggerated by people. Still, a great film. (btw, is this the most popular independent film of this century? I see it being recommended everywhere)
loved the movie the camera work and mostly the legendary soundtrack
They copied soundtrack from Quilmes argentinian beer advicement
probably the besy movie i've ever seen...
Good movie that's hard to watch
It's so cold.Very heavy a movie. If you are sensation person , I think not watch.
I sincerely feel this movie boasts a tender journey set on a rough course and the mixture is a.trip one wishes to view over and over again...
This movie gradually and hardly noticeably builds up to a climax which will put you in a Trance. My mind was blown...
One of my all time favorite movies
I've never been so disturbed by a movie.
I remember watching it as a kid but couldn't remember a thing. This is one fucked up movie... Should be shown to everyone at the age of 16.
See you in another 15 years.
made me regret all the decisions i made that lead me to choose to watch this
The amount of chills I get when I listen to Clint Mansell's 'Lux Aeterna' is fucking absurd.
Shocking and amazing movie. This is the kind of movie, that it's very amazing, but never watch again. Just no.
I hated pretty much everything about this other than the use of split screen. It's like they gave a film student $4 million for their first project who or course focused on flashy visuals over characters. This was made four years after Trainspotting FFS.
There is nothing nice about this movie. It's got some stellar acting but the plot is grim, much like the rest of Aronovsky's work. It's a superb movie but don't watch it on a down/shit day, it will lower your mood to rock bottom.
What a weird ass movie
I like a lot of the filmmaking here, as well as the music. Ellen Burstyn is phenomenal in it, and it’s very good at making you reconsider the way you view addicts. The problem to me is that it feels repetitive, and you know exactly how this is going to play out after the first act. Maybe not to the intensity that it does, but I kinda knew all of its tricks a little too soon. Could've used more subtlety and not nearly as engaging as Aronofsky's previous film.
7/10
This was literally nothing BUT somehow one of the best movies I've ever seen. Maybe it was the soundtrack, i don't know, but I was lost.
Seriously, who thought about hiring Shorty from Scary Movie for a supposedly serious film about addictions?
Although I used to despise "Requiem for a Dream" as a teenager, I found myself really enjoying it this time around. Sure, it's all a huge excuse to have Darren do his thing behind the camera, but his distinctive style hits the right notes here. The message is clear and packaged in a way more palatable than the typically dull, heavy-handed dramas.
Tonally, the film gets so all over the top that it veers into the grotesque. While it works great with the old hag’s diet parable (my life story), there are times it feels unintentionally comical when dealing with the young gang.
Who wanna suicide should watch this movie
Had it not been for the last 20 minutes, this movie would have gotten a 5/10, but holy shit it just got wilder and wilder.
Unglaublich starker Film. Habe immernoch Gänsehaut.
it was pretty good at first until i forget it.
I sincerely feel this movie boasts a tender journey set on a rough course and the mixture is a.trip one wishes to view over and over again...

Powerful movie -- I'm reluctant to even take aspirin now... ;-)
