This might be the greatest movie ever made.
Just throw logic out the window and enjoy the film as it is. Lots of religious symbolism and torture sequences. But really well made. Amazing cinematography minus the obligatory flying fight scenes. Some hilarious scenes and very clean no vulgarity.
You know how adding some elements of cheese to a popular movie or song can add human charm to the end product? Well, this goes so far into kitsch territory that it basically feels like an unintentional parody of Hollywood action filmmaking. In theory that’s fine, for example I think Riki-oh is a lot of fun. However, watching RRR is essentially like watching Eurovision for 3 hours. To some people think that sounds like fun, for me it’s absolute torture. Not only is this excessively sentimental and corny, but the plastic visuals and atrocious acting also leave a lot to be desired. Sometimes it’ll strike upon a cool moment that will satisfy your inner 12 year old, but because the overall experience is so lame, I was pretty much bored from beginning to end.
3/10
The best action film of the 2020s I've seen so far great cinematography and good music. The fight scenes are over the top but still fun and has that eye candy quality I crave. I watched on Netflix so it was dubbed into Hindi and not the original Telugu language. Bravo!
Three hours and five minutes of pure insanity. That's how the Indian epic "RRR" could be described. I can absolutely relate to the reports of cheering, screaming, and dancing crowds in theaters. Everything is way over the top—action, drama, pathos, slow motion, explosions, CGI animals, dances, and the booming soundtrack—and yet it's just perfect as it is. "RRR" is pure fun. The long runtime is no problem at all. The film goes by in a flash. That's partly due to the fact that everything is so refreshingly different from Hollywood productions. I'm not really familiar with the Indian film industry, but this movie is definitely something special.
I can only advise everyone to give "RRR" a chance. Any skepticism should have vanished by the time the two protagonists meet for the first time in a totally insane sequence. Later, when they start dancing to the hit song "Naatu Naatu", things really get going. And the action doesn't let up afterwards. The finale was then so spectacular that it almost left me speechless. If you can overlook the somewhat questionable morals of the story, the exaggerated nationalism, and the laughably one-dimensional villains, you should definitely watch "RRR".
This movie is better than most Hollywood movies in recent years.
RRR is completely ridiculous. The CGI is exorbitant, the writing is melodramatic, and the action is outlandish. The emphatic racism alone is enough to abandon this film in the second act.
Keep calm and:
Dara dam dara dam dara dam dam
Dara dam dara dam dara dam dam
Dara dam dara dam dara dam dam
Dam daradam dam dam
Perfect, no notes. Quentin Tarantino wishes he could make a movie this good.
Very long and corny, and sometimes it gets a bit boring. Also, there is a romantic subplot I didn't care for, and the villains are cartoons.
Other than that, this was a wild experience that I won't forget. One of the rawest and most over-the-top action scenes I've seen in a while! In the opening scene, a dedicated police officer tries to arrest a protester among the crowd of other angry protesters. After that scene, I was fully ready for everything else.
You know, last year had a lot of lackluster blockbusters, but this movie delivers where those fail. It has everything, lol.
If you can look past the (Mariana trench sized) flaws, this epic bro story will satisfy you. Slightly less subtle than a kick in the teeth, but far more amusing.
What a ridiculously amazing movie. Especially the cage scene with all the animals flying out of the truck, like who is even out there thinking of this. Kudos to a tight script.
Most epic bromance movie ever.
Positives:
Negatives:
Good grief is this terrible. From the ridiculous plot, to awful acting, to awful CGI. I don't even know where to start. Nothing made sense. Just terrible movie.
How does a movie like this even get made? He thought of such a bonkers movie? The first thing that you need to know is that this movie is incredibly original. Sure, we've seen some of the action scenes in this movie done in many other movies. What sets this movie apart is that it never loses track of the central story. Despite the frantic pace I felt that I knew the characters and the bigger story. I am not going to lie - I started to drift a bit in the middle but I think that was more on me (it was late). Roger Ebert once said that all movies should be seen on a big screen - I think this movie is a perfect example of this theory. I loved it.

I don't know what I just watched, but it sure was entertaining.
Was able to watch a copy in Telugu and not the forced Hindi dub from NF. Unfortunately the English parts were dubbed into Telugu as well. Some of them were, but just over the English audio. Takes away some of the immersion for sure. A true spectacle , and the over the top zero respect for gravity or physics throughout is part of the charm albeit too frequent for my personal tastes, it is done on purpose. Think you like slo-mo action sequences? Try 3 hrs of em. Fun, but a bit too cartoony. 6.6
How good this 4k looks on Netflix, it has surprised and pleased us. Visually a delight. It has some very Bollywood moments with several musical numbers The bad guys have a bad card and are very evil and the good guys have a good card and are heroes.
[Netflix] With an evident visual exuberance, there is a use of the elements of fire, water and earth as the center of a nationalist spirit that prevails due to its connection with nature. Which is an interesting insight into the roots of identity, albeit against caricatured antagonistic characters, representatives of a crumbling empire. Here S.S. Rajamouli opts for the construction of his own mythology that turns the heroes into superheroes, which is fine as a commercial option but he cannot avoid falling into some ridiculous situations, although at least the musical numbers are introduced with a sense of humor.
Kind of like John Woo goes to India.
Great fun, never boring despite 3hr running time.
7/10
When they can't even have English subtitles, what is the point?
As an experience it's not bad. But I don't see myself watching films of this style all the time, I don't know. I have to say, though, it's not depressing, nor is it "boring" in the sense that it has constant action. It's a different matter whether you're interested in it or not.
I'm not telling you to see it or not to see it, I think that in this film, it's up to you to judge.
Unintentional hilarity aside, I kinda get the hype now...but also kinda don't.
That was an truly epic great movie. Loved everything about it.
Entertaining movie to watch while having a few beers with friends, and for that it was very good. I probably wouldn't have finished it if I was watching it by myself.
Some scenes/concepts are very long. The plot has twists and turns and the there are many ridiculous scenes (in a good and fun way! Exactly what I expected from Bollywood)
By far the best movie of 2022
Take it for what it is, just enjoy the ride
“RRR” is basically a bromance historical drama where people rescue other people. It’s the apotheosis of kitsch under any possible aspect, yet its three hours felt like fifteen minutes. The secret is that even the most absurd action sequences and silly moments are emotionally driven story beats; everything is there for a purpose. Mandatory to watch in a movie theater, possibly in IMAX, as a unique multisensory experience.
Although this felt like an easy 10/10 right after going out of the movie theater, I have to revise my rating due to the overblown nationalism, the terrible English cast, and the fact that despite the ridiculously over-the-top action sequences and the chains of explosions, nothing really managed to top the climax already reached during the first half with the Nathu Nathu dance and Malli's rescue mission.
Just another bad movie from india. Art has died in india.
First Bollywood movie I watched.
I already knew there were be some overdone special effects but it was fun to watch. the English voices feels like old Chinese movies when they used different actor to translate.
But what cached my eyes was the image quality. Even on Netflix looks amazing with HDR. beautiful colors, cinematographic, details. Good thing this was an Indian movie. Their friendship got really close and I’m sure if this was made in the US it will look gay lol..
If you have 3 hours free, watch it with an open mind and enjoy it.
Poor storytelling, acting performances so bad that I can't come up with any comparison. English voice overs that make the experience comedic and tiresome are the same time.
Sure, there are some 'interesting' combat scenes. So what? Even the highlights in the last 30 minutes hardly made this experience worth it.
This an exquisite film. I’ve been looking forward to seeing it since ‘Naatu Naatu’ was performed at the Acadamy Awards and was awarded the Best Original Song in March. The film reminded me of Hair (1979). The absurdist—in the sense of Theatre of the Absurd—song and dance and balletic action sequences break down and break through the politically absurd circumstances by fusing empowerment with sheer exuberance. However, RRR is also far darker and more brutal than anticipated. I’m generally not an action enthusiast—RRR undoubtedly regards itself in the action flicks genre.
Language and dubbing need a mention. Netflix has this awful policy of dubbing almost, if not all, their foreign films. While many European films on Netflix can be switched to their original language, RRR is available only in dubbed Hindi (plus English and a few other Western languages). Watching a dubbed movie is like reading the Sparknotes to a masterpiece—you may get the gist of the thing, but it conveys nothing of the spirit and soul. If a movie has such a thing as umami, then dubbing strips the flavor right out. The good news—and I highly recommend this—is that RRR is available in its original Telugu (with English subtitles) for streaming on Zee5, an Indian streaming subscription service featuring South Asian language films. You must purchase a subscription, but I found a code that offered $1.99 for the first month, after which I can end my subscription. Zee5 is a well-developed and sophisticated app for all major phones, smart TVs, and devices. https://www.zee5.com/global/ I was able to load it onto my Android-enabled television without fuss.
Despite overcoming personal hesitation (brutality) and obstacles (dubbed language), this film is worth the effort and acclaim.
First Bollywood movie for me, and pretty destabilizing cinema. It’s crazy, and reminds me some HK movie in early 90’s! You have to accommodate your manner of watching in order to enjoy fully this flick! I don’t know if i could really enjoy watching more… but I definitely like this one! Take a try!

One of the few movies I would give a 10/10. Just top tier in every aspect except their CGI. If you ever have the chance to watch it in theaters run don't walk it's impeccable. It's designed for the big screen
By the end of the movie you had grown a beard for so much testoterone. Loved it.
One of the best action movies I’ve ever seen
Like being a kid again: you forget to think because of all of the awesomeness you're not the least bit self-conscious about feeling.
This is what movies are supposed to be, imo. Pure spectacle, epic, a sprawling saga that isn't afraid to look ridiculous and by owning its flamboyance, by throwing it in your face and reveling in it, it comes off as super cool and will have you pumping your first and jumping on your sofa.
My only beef (as someone who knows very little about Bollywood movies) is that the drawn out middle section focusing on a very unlikely romance takes up far more time than it deserves and drags the down the pace like artificial sweetener in a cup of strong coffee.
I can't understand no subtitles they need to make it in English
Amazing Action Movie, Loved it
Pretty entertaining, although a little long.
This movie is something. And honestly it’s hard to put this into words without being confusing, contradictory, or full of spoilers. This movie is a bit of everything. Serious/Comedy. Action/Musical. Quality/Cheesy. Great visuals/Awful CGI. Synced Lips/Dub Over. Everyone is going to have a different experience with it. And its 3 hour run time will make it more unpalatable for those that don’t love everything that is happening. But that 3 hour run time also gives you more absurdity to like if you do enjoy it. Personally, I enjoyed it but I can’t possibly recommend it. I don’t know who I would be recommending it to. It’s worth watching, at least in part, to see if you enjoy it.
Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching

S.S.Rajamouli's latest magnum opus is a visual spectacle filled with jaw-droppingset pieces, sensational lead performances, drama at its peak, and emotions in abundance. A skillful and stunning blend of revolution and mythology.

One of the best action movies I've saw!
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. That scene with tigers jumping out of the truck is the pinnacle of south asian cinema.
Visually appealing and nothing else! If you like south Indian movies and can disable your brain for 3 hours, this is probably for you..
Great film. Very funny but wasn't expecting it to be so brutal, there's some pretty nasty stuff in it.
It definitely works as an entertainment movie, it is tense and keeps you engaged to know how it is going to end, in spite of the important length. It touches a non-easy historical background, it is clear it is pure fiction and not so realistic, not sure whether and how much it is appropriate.

I get the appeal of this movie. After the first 30 minutes I was afraid it was going to be another Indian action movie with over the top scenes and terrible story and acting.
However, the story turned out to be really good. The screenplay was clearly the best part of the movie. The acting by the main cast was pretty decent. Caveat: I did watch the Hindi dub. I wish Netflix had the audio in the original language. I could only watch either thr Hindi or English dub.
The biggest flaw with the movie is the over-the-top action. If you have ever seen a Bollywood movie, you know what it's like. Imo they should have toned it down a bit.
Overall an enjoyable movie with some obvious flaws.
