So Jason Statham once again plays his tough guy with pure tough purpose. He is tougher than tough as nails. So much so that you never feel his main character in peril. He's always in full control. The entertainment comes more from how efficiently he can dispose of the opposition against an orgy of action, violence and tough man dialogue. Even his pistol has more bass than anybody else's.
Nothing wrong with this sort of thing, pure entertainment. 8/10
Before "Safe", Jason Statham had two very weak action films, "Blitz" and "Killer Elite". This two films were the usual Jason Statham crap that he's been doing since his action breakout "The Transporter". Lame storyline with gun blazing action and some fist to fist combat. "Safe" brings the same action but in a more smarter way thanks to the enjoyable story. Statham does a surprisingly good job in this film and actually delivers some very funny lines in the process. "Safe" is not the best action film ever, but is a great improvement from past Statham films. Definately worth checking out if you want to be entertain.
This might be the perfect late-night movie as it is just really fun action and pretty good acting, though the story is pretty bog-standard and that's alright considering the direction in this film is pretty solid from Boaz Yakin. The story revolves around a man that has lost everything and has to live a life on the streets to make sure he doesn't lose his life, but when a little girl who is trying to escape all of the different gangs in NY and also the please he finds redemption.
Jason Statham (Luke Wright) is awesome in this film as he acts so well and a lot of people need to understand that he is actually a better actor than we think he is, also every fight sequence with him is perfect and I can only wish that one day he will be in a John Wick movie because he would fit in that universe perfectly. Also, Catherine Chan (Mei) is pretty good in this film and I believe her as this little girl who is almost a tortured genius.
The film is filled to the top with action cliches, but as I said above it is the perfect late-night action film as you don't have to think much and it isn't overly long and this film knows what it is.
Safe is your typical Jason Statham movie, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The action scenes were all very well done but as for the story line; that kind of took a backseat in the film just like any other Statham film. The action scenes were enough for me to stay entertained throughout the film. Enjoy it for what it is and you'll have fun watching it.
Good. Just got it last night gonna put it on right now.
No No, no hooker in my Taxi.
Best line.
The acting is bad, the dialogues are even worse. Editing and camerawork are terrible and Statham plays the same character we've seen in like 90% of his movies. A complete waste of time, one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
I liked this one! Love the way he fights and uses those special combinations!
The cinematography really elevates this one above the normal action/thriller fare, as very clever scene transitions move the story along from one set piece to another, and of course Statham looks great beating the living dogshit out of everyone he comes across, so what's not to like?
Well worth a look, it's recommended and holds up well enough on the re-watch.
I watched Safe back when it was released, and I remember I didn't much care for it. When a friend "forced" me to rewatch it, I saw it in a different light.
Safe is the usual Statham action flick...with a twist. It's was actually delivered in a rather decent manner. The story is average, but it's set in New York and the locations are amazing, and the action is well directed and to the point. Statham delivers his usual stone face antihero routine, but this time...it works quite well with the rest. And there's at least one thing you can't take away from Statham. He can take a beating like none other...
Enjoy Safe for what it is...Mindless action entertainment.
Well... Jason Statham. Action and story doesn't really matter. Liked it :)
Good story, good action.
I was looking forward to the showdown between Luke and Alex, it would of been a cool fight. Pity it ended before it started.
I always like Jason Statham with his martial arts style of fighting, his shoot first and ask questions later policy and this movie is no exception. It's a real popcorn movie. The story is somewhat subpar to the action scenes, but the action is very good.
Overall i can definitely recommend this movie. If you want some nice entertainment and see a movie you have not seen before than you can't go wrong with this one.
i'm not sure what you expect from statham films but i always like his work although i agree with you on his last movies being killer elite that was just ok & blitz was poor to say the least but safe was excellent i really enjoyed it. great movie, great story & everything you expect from a statham flick... lots of action!!
Safe is both a slavish imitation of cinema gone by and a movie for our time. I found it wickedly entertaining and perversely refreshing in its total lack of contemporary piety.
