Shut In 2016

Very jumpy! Pretty predictable but still good fun.

Naomi Watts deserves so much better than this.

Same with Oliver Platt.

Also Jacob Tremblay & Charlie Heaton.

And us as the audience. Seriously, no one is going to remember this.

Pretty bad i would say, totally ridiculous and horrible plot and story. There is nothing new on this film, it plays with all the cliches and outrageous scenes that can offend your IQ

Naomi Watts stars in the intense (and somewhat stereotypical) psychological thriller Shut In. The story follows widowed mother and child psychologist Mary Portman who starts to question her sanity when one of her patients goes missing and she beings to have strange visions. Watts gives a very strong performance, really capturing the paranoia and terror of the character. And the director does a good job at using space; both in showing Mary’s isolation in the country and her confinement in her house. But unfortunately the writing is rather weak, with a thin plot and underdeveloped characters. Shut In is suspenseful and has some frightening moments, but overall it’s a fairly mediocre and formulaic horror film.

Wasn't really that keen on this film, this twist was pretty bland and it didn't make an awful lot of sense. Wouldn't recommend.

Not going to win anyone any Oscars, but not a bad thriller and doesn't insult our intelligence to much.

Could bring up larger issues, like what should parents do with an out of control teen? Send them away for their own good, but feel guilty for enjoying the break from the constant drama? Admit you are afraid of your own kid? And then feel even more guilty?

There are themes that may ring true for some parents.

For some parents, some themes may ring uncomfortably and guiltily true.

Expected more, considering the presence of some fine actors. Sadly, this is a disappointingly conventional thriller that plays it's hand too quickly.
