Jamal Malik: Maybe it's written.
This is a fine film. Good acting and a decent story. It feels a little dated now. That dance at the end is wonderful though.
This movie is full of suspense but any Indian can predict most of it.
The dance in the end was so funny.
While the first 2/3 of the movie were fairly interesting, the director really brought the movie together in the final third. I really enjoyed this film as it was so different than any other movie that I can recall.
For those of you that have seen the film, I do have one observation. About halfway through the movie I thought they were going to drop a "Usual Suspects" ending on us. Think about it: it seems as though they were leading you down a path about how the lead supposedly didn't cheat on a game show and that his life experiences taught him the answers that he needed to know. I liked the ending that was presented to us but I think that would have been a great one also.
Amazing movie, not at all what I expected... but in a good way!!
I liked it at the second trial. The first time I watched it, I didn't like it.
Overhyped :poop: I still dont get what the fuss is about.
dev patel could do the pussycat dolls but nicole scherzinger couldn't do slumdog millionaire
Not my favorite Dev Patel film, but it’s undeniably solid and understandable why it won so many awards! If you like award winning type movies or Danny Boyle films, you owe it to yourself to check this one out!

The slums of India belie the saccharine nature of this story. Still, the gameshow conceit is cute and the stars are an adorably winning pair. Bonus points for Rahman’s “Jai Ho.”
In full transparency, I’m not typically a fan of the “award winning” dramas. They are slow. I respect them. But I don’t enjoy them. This is one of the more enjoyable ones, but I still don’t love it. It’s a really good movie, with a really good story, that I probably won’t ever watch again. And that’s fine! I know there’s an audience out there that will love this. I simply respect this.

It’s a good story with well developed characters. Probably one of Danny Boyle’s most well directed and shot films (few too many Dutch angles, but ok) and lots of memorable music (not a fan of how they incorporated Paper Planes though, stripping the song from a lot of its meaning). I just don’t entirely get what the film’s trying to communicate on a thematic level. On the one hand it seems to imply that life experience is one of the most valuable tools one can have, but on the other hand it also acknowledges that most of what you’re seeing is just convenience and luck, which seem like conflicting points of view to me. The ending’s a little too cheesy for its own good, and the way it switches between English and Hindi throughout feels a bit weird and distracting (probably would’ve been better if they’d just committed to using one of the two). Still, I’d easily recommend it, just because it’s easy to get lost in, big and genuinely emotional.
6.5/10
Listen. I went into the movie with really high expectations... like CRAZY HIGH EXPECTATIONS...why? Because i made the mistake of reading the book for this film first and boy was it a great book. and boy this was a terrible movie...well not terrible just not my favourite. If i had seen this movie before reading the book i probably would have liked it way more, but that is not what happened. The movie felt like a stereotypical Bollywood that actually wasn't stereotypical because IT HAD A GOOD MESSAGE. I mainly felt like there was a lot of missed opportunity with this movie and it made me really sad since I was REALLY EXCITED to watch it. But who am i to judge this movie - it won like 300 awards... anyways...Overall id give it a 5.5/10. I finished this one at 11:51PM...
Very good movie with positive vibes..7.5/10
Prepare yourself to be overtaken by emotions as varied as joy, pity, happiness, anger, revulsion, surprise, and an exhilarating conclusion rarely seen in movies anymore.
