Really great movie. Magical feeling, beautifully animated and heavenly soundtrack.
Sinceramente não percebo como é que um filme de animação fantástico como é o de Song of the Sea (2014) consegue perder o Oscar para um banal blockbuster como o Big Hero 6 (2014)
it was an irish tale right? it's amazing. though it is somewhat heavy for a kid's cartoon. It's still amazing.
A wonderful movie and real tear jerker.
I can honestly say this was the most beautiful movie I've seen in my life so far!
I didn't expect it to look so stunning and the story was brave enough to show us complex characters and emotions.
If you ever had to deal with loss (really who hasn't?) [the giant part will break your heart - you can feel his pain just looking at his island] this movie approaches it in a very clever and heartwarming way
A very original fairy tale. The unique animation might be off-putting for some, but it is something that makes the movie all the more magical. This is a lovely work of art for both young and old.
Simply beautiful. The art direction is amazing and works superbly with both the cute and mystical themes of the film.
Beautifully done, magical masterpiece with an amazing soundtrack.
From the moment it started, I was completely swept up in its magic. The hand-drawn animation is simply gorgeous, filled with vibrant colors and detailed backgrounds that transport you into this enchanting world steeped in Irish folklore. The story, focusing on siblings Ben and Saoirse, is heartfelt and deeply moving. It masterfully weaves elements of fantasy with relatable themes of family, loss, and courage. And the music? Oh, it's hauntingly beautiful, setting the tone perfectly for the tale and leaving me humming long after the film ended. Though it may seem like a children's movie at first glance, it tackles serious themes with such grace and sensitivity that it resonates with adults just as powerfully. "Song of the Sea" is a rare masterpiece that's evocative, captivating, and teeming with heart - it's one of those films that genuinely touched my soul.
A gorgeously-animated interpretation of Irish terrain and folklore, complete with cerulean seas, emerald isles, faeries and witches and sleeping stone giants. Song of the Sea follows a bold little boy and his sickly young sister, unwillingly relocated from their remote family home beside the ocean to the crowded, congested confines of the big city. Once there, they waste little time in escaping the embrace of an early bedtime and venture straight back into the countryside, seeking their father and unraveling family mysteries along the way.
Strongly flavored with local color, this was obviously composed by artists with deep personal ties to the region and its mythology. When it’s tasked with visualizing something fantastic, the screen comes alive with all manner of unfamiliar magic and breathless wonder. Such moments grow more frequent near the climax, of course, but the road to get there lacks a certain power that could have pushed it over the top. Many of its eventual conclusions seem foregone in the very early goings, and the film’s methodical pace can be challenging. It’s the type of animation that loves to dwell in a moment, but lacks the extra panache to make such waits worthwhile in its pedestrian scenes. Beautiful, soulful and enveloping at its very best, but too inconsistent to merit top marks.
Such a wonderful movie! It's heartbreaking, funny and absolutely fabulous!
Beautifull animation and good soundtrack... however, the story has a lot of lore gaps that no one explain anything about them, why the mom had to go?, why she didn't sing instead her daughter?, what was the reason for making a human familly?...
It's just one more movie for kids where doesn't matter if the plot makes sense or not at all...
Absolutely fantastic movie done by the animation studio behind Puffin Rock. I adore this presentation of gentle tension so much that I actually purchased it on DVD. It is a must watch for children and adults alike.
....when in something simple is the real beauty....
Requires patience, this beautifully animated film is based on an Irish folk story.
Beautiful movie. The animation and music is just amazing!
Beautiful animation, lovely story and amazing soundtrack. Definitely worth watching (even if you don't have kids as an excuse)

Beautiful animation, equally beautiful soundtrack, and a very mysterious story. Even though is slow-paced, it's an amazing movie.
