The dialogue in this movie makes it a little tough to take seriously:

"Why are you taking the gas out
of the room? That's my air.
What's with this water?!"

- Norman, the guy who just can't figure out that someone is trying to kill him. Even when they lock him in a room and flood it.

Fixing the code so it says Harry instead of jerry would have changed any instance of H,J,E and A. Thus making most of the previous conversations with “jerry” unreadable. This is the biggest flaw in the movie. You would think the genius mathematicians in the movie would have known this too.

My name is jerry

Would read as

My nema is harry

Not bad but I'm guessing this is yet another one of those films where the book is ten times better than the movie. I got the impression that a lot was left out in order to keep the movie to a manageable running time.

Slated by critics and users but one of my best time waster movies. Can’t explain why but just a nice something to watch. Faulty as all hell but hey which Tom cruise blockbuster isn’t and that gets likes.

It takes a really special team to make a Michael Crichton book into a good movie and while the cast was there, the screenplay wasn't.

I read this Michael Crichton novel years ago and don't recall much, other than it wasn't nearly as goofy as this movie. This film was unintentionally funny and even though it has "A" list actors for its time, it seems like they are all going through the motions, except for Liev Schreiber, who turns in a good performance as Dr. Ted Fielding.

The sphere itself is mysterious enough to make it frustrating to not know what might be inside of it. The history of the crashed spacecraft could have used more exploration, too.

You can tell from the movie's poster than the filmmakers chose to focus on the cast's star-power and made the story itself secondary.

I didn't hate this movie. It starts off running and shit keeps getting crazier. I think if this had ended around the 75 min mark it would have been one hell of a Twilight Zone or a fun B movie. It just goes on too long and the answers we get for the wrap up is nuts and anticlimactic.

A movie I really wanted to like. It’s just too confusing and silly. The cast isn’t bad though. Well despite Dustin Hoffman miscast.

I am sure the Michael Crichton book made for a good read. As a movie though; a great cast is wasted and the film is pretty goofy. It's like Dreamcatcher...under water lol.

Interesting and intriguing SciFi movie.

Don't listen to negative reviews and give this a shot for yourself. I love the cast, their acting, the direction, and the way the story is told. I really love this movie =)
