Spy Hard 1996

You don't need to waste your time explaining to me why this movie isn't really deserving of a 3 out of 5 star review. I know it has a lot of problems. I know it isn't super hilarious. It isn't Leslie Nielson's greatest slapstick by any means. But quite frankly, I enjoy myself a good amount due to the fact that I loved it as a kid. Going back lets me realize all the "meh" of this one, but I still enjoy myself enough to say it was good.

Definitely the weakest of Nielsen's comedy filmography. Endless joke after joke but nothing sticks

Seeing this as an adult (and rather old one), this movie is way worse that I remembered it to be. The only part that of it that still in any way entertaining is the Weird Al song.

Leslie Nielsen stars in the James Bond spoof Spy Hard. When a rogue terrorist threatens to launch a powerful missile, the CIA recruits their top spy Dick Steele, WD-40, to stop him. In addition to Bond, a number of other spy films are lampooned, such as Mission: Impossible and True Lies, as well as other popular films, like In the Line of Fire, Speed, Pulp Fiction, Home Alone, Sister Act, and Jurassic Park. Nielson does his usual shtick and is backed by a solid supporting cast that includes Andy Griffith, Barry Bostwick, Stephanie Romanov, Marcia Gay Harden, and Bong Girl Talisa Soto. The jokes and sight gags are pretty hit and miss, though fans of the spy genre will appreciate the satire. Overall Spy Hard is a pretty mediocre parody film, but it’s entertaining and delivers some fun laughs.
