If you are watching Star Wars Rebels on Disney+ this movie has now been rebranded as Episodes 1 & 2 of season 1 of the show. At first, I was confused when I went to log the show progress until I figured this out.

6.5/10 - It's not bad. It does feel cheap(er) (compared to Clone Wars) but it's also kinda good.

I initially wanted to avoid this after watching the first episode (which now seems to be the 3rd on Disney+? It looks like I missed the real pilot/intro) as it felt too targeted for very young children but this time it felt ok-ish (i.e., watchable). I decided to give it another chance as I really want to learn how Ahsoka's story continues before watching the new live action show (she's my favorite character from Clone Wars).

Sabine is nice, Ezra seems to have a lot of potential regarding the force, the message from Kenobi was cool, and it's great to still have some Jedi around.

The writing is pretty corny and a lot of the voice acting fails to make those lines work. The worst thing about a lot of the lines is they have a level of earnestness that felt entirely unearned. Still, the plot and story are pretty interesting, so this episode does make for some entertaining viewing nonetheless.

The writing hasn't improved, but the plot is pretty interesting, and there's some solid (if clunkily written) character development here as well.

Also, these Wookies are freaking ugly, I'm sorry. How do you get Wookies wrong?
