State of Play 2009

About half way through this movie I thought I had it figured out. I thought that it was going to be your standard "here is the director's political statement disguised as a thriller". I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be more than that. The film had several interesting themes, among them how we are all both good and evil. Without giving too much away, I really found the dance between the different factions in the movie to be the most interesting part of the film. The director did a great job of painting the symbiotic relationship between the various groups.

good twists and excellent acting. i'm pretty sure ben affleck thrives in roles involving infidelity which like. idk what that says about him but hey.

Great unforeseen twists and turns. This is a great thriller from the perspective of a reporter. I appreciated that because it wasn't always shoot first - ask questions later.

"Am I talking to my friend now or am I talking to a reporter?"

This is a middle-of-the-road political thriller with a few twists and turns. I have to say, why does it always involve a military conspiracy or a random girl turning up dead? Either way, Rachel McAdams and Russell Crowe are great.

Wow is this terrible. Nothing to see here... moving along.

"Thriller"? Really? This is fucking boring.

Solid political thriller with all the tropes, including twists and turns. Nothing groundbreaking or spectacular but fun nonetheless.
