It's a bit of a slog to get through, and displays it's amateur qualities front and center. But it's appreciated and a very important film, it broke down doors and took no shit, and changed not only film for African-Americans but film as a whole. It's not properly acknowledged for the waves it made in independent cinema. It may not be the fun and over-the-top good times of the Blaxploitation films it spawned, but it's still essential viewing.
