Ordinary plot, decent action, and Liam Neeson has became a somewhat invincible superman instead of a believable experienced agent with tactical and martial prowess like he was before.
The next time Liam Neeson makes another Taken movie I will find him and I will kill him... So glad that this forced trilogy is finished. They should've stopped with the first movie.
Less action than the others but still ok
this was boring....don't even ask about the camerawork...this 3rd installment wasn't necessary...'Taken' should have been a stand alone movie....
Enjoyable. I now know how it's possible to stop an airplane when you are late for your flight!
Thanks of the tip Bryan :)
Not the best film in the series, it does suffer from sequel fade but still action packed
Not like first ... just an action movie. For free times.
Another action movie that is just that... The first one is the only one that it's actually good out of the three.
Not as great as the first two, but still a good movie.
Kick Ass movie. Love Luc Besson
If the first Taken could be seen as somewhat akin to a Die Hard movie, this definitely takes that comparison to its worst extremity...
Just as Die Hard went from great to awful in its many sequels, Taken 3 borrows from the idea that more must be better. Cue superhuman activity, highly improbable activity and plain ridiculousness.
However, it has a slightly longer running time so is able to deliver a little more plot than the other two in the trilogy.
The bad news is that extra story is rubbish. And changing the actor playing a major character is unforgiveable from a continuity point of view.
It's watchable as a standalone movie and perhaps it's better done as such. But it's a pale relation to the original - the only one in the franchise worth watching.
5.75/10
The Taken series is the new Hangover films; there just never end.
I can't believe a movie like the first 'Taken', got squeal's that quickly turned things into a train wreck and a soulless cash grab. I remember in the first film how brutal the fight scenes were and that's due to the sound work in that movie. Every punch sounds rock hard, but then Olivier Megaton took the directors chair and I wish he haven't, because 'Taken 2' was terrible and so was this one.
Olivier Megaton should just stop directing action films. He can't do them right and the direction for action scenes felt so poorly edited. I thought he learned his lesson by now since everybody talked about how crappy the action was in the second film and his other movies with the same problem, but no, he has learnt anything.
The action in this movie is some of the worst action I've so far this year. It's the quick cut editing, so that means you can't see a damn thing when an action scene comes on. Quick cut after quick cut, it's just painful to watch. How I am I suppose to enjoy the action when most of the time I can't see it and I would blame it on the editing as well, which was just awful.
The only good thing in this movie was Liam Neeson, of course. However in this movie he's just playing the basic Liam Neeson action trope character we've all seen before. He doesn't do terrible job, but I can tell that he doesn't want to be in this, as it's all about the money to him.
Overall rating: 'Taken 3' is a poorly executed action film with zone brain shells to it.
After watching this you'll wish you'd Taken a lot more than 3.
“Try anything funny, and they'll kill you. And if they don't, I will.”
“What's your first priority here, Inspector?”
“To arrest St. John and charge him with your ex-wife's murder.”
“My first priority is my daughter.”
“I knew from the beginning. It was the bagels. They were warm. I had to ask myself... what kind of guy goes out for warm bagels... and comes back and commits murder?”
Of all the Taken series movies, this is my most favorite one. I like the first 2 too. But the twists of this story are different. The ideas as stretched out. Made me say, “Oh! So cool! The antagonist won either way.”
Not as good as the first I liked it better than the second one though
Goes for a different format than the other ones which I I appreciate
Huge fan of Taken movies, this one was good also.
I also happen to know the song that was playing at the beginning and it is one of my favourite, nice choice (Toes by Glass Animals)
that finale scene reminded me of "The Transporter II" i loved it. and that russian dude oleg or something i loved his undies like russian people have an amazing sense of fashion lol. either way i think this movie was much good than the second one. Liam is a guy u don't mess with he has it all the personality the voice.
i don't why that guy at the store said to Inspector Frank that she drank it straight up like who would say that, lack of detail in there (Time 1:00:05).
Thought I might as well make it a set and watch the third one. It’s possibly slightly better than Taken 2 if only because it has no one throwing grenades all over the place and no stupid driving lesson stuff.
This time, Neeson’s wife gets killed and he gets framed for it. So it’s his freedom that gets Taken, or his wife, or his car or something. Forest Whitaker makes an appearance as the detective on the case. He’s got some ticks to make him a real person - he carries a chess piece around with him because this case is like chess.
The elements we all know and love are there. The clunky script, the bland acting, the headache inducing action scenes… Taken 3 has very few redeeming features other than it really seems like this could be the last one they make.

I personally enjoyed the movie, in of itself I think there was definitely the thriller quality missing that made the first movie formula soooo good. I think overall, as a fan of the series and Liam Nielson that the movie did some nice character development. Overall though the plot felt predictable and nothing spectacular. I think the dialogue was lacking overall and he definitely felt pretty invincible with his "plot armor". Everytime he supposedly "died," it meant he was still alive lol. I didn't really think there was any creativity when it came to how he escaped or fought either like the first or second. Overall the third was definitely failure in trying to use the same formula or template that made the first such a success. It was basically a good action movie, nothing that set it apart from other good action movies.
I was looking forward to this movie and I have to say that I was a wee bit disappointed. It is a decent enough action movie but the script leaves somewhat to be desired. A good chunk of the movie is quite good, actually it is very good, but there are some crucial scenes that, in my opinion, really drags it down to a rather mediocre level.
The plot is a fairly classical, not a very intelligent nor a very original, one. When trying to push the third sequel in a series Hollywood have a tendency to fall back on certain “trusted” elements. Like, make the hero haunted by the law and / or the government (no I do not consider the government to be the same as the law) or kill off some of the main (or at least likable) characters.
In this movie they are doing both. I do not know why this always seems to be the standard solution because I certainly do not like it. Are the general movie going audience really falling for these, in my mind, cheap scripts? I guess they must be since this formula is repeated over and over again. Well, it is not for me to judge other peoples tastes and if I would have been a bean counter for the movie industry then it would really have been my duty to squeeze out as much money as possible regardless of whether I thought it would make a good movie or not, However, I am not. I am a consumer of movies and my personal opinion is that these plot elements are pretty cheap and not really to my liking. But then, that is just me.
Anyway, the movie is not really bad. It is a decent enough action movie and, in general, I quite like the performance of Liam Neeson. He is the half-sad, silent and, most of all, ass-kicking hero that I like. He is pretty much what holds this movie together. Well, that was perhaps not entirely fair. Forrest Whitaker is doing a quite good job as well. Most of the other characters are mostly fillers. The main bad guy started off fairly good but he really never got the chance to shine and the ending scenes with the big confrontation was…well I would say pretty pathetic.
This brings us to my man gripe with this movie. Up until this point Liam Neeson was really playing the big bad, and really skilled, killing machine. The way he, with the help of his friends, entered the bad guy’s stronghold was perhaps not very innovative (seen that, been there, and done that) but at least it was professional. After that however it turned into a bloody joke. Not only does our hero walk into a heavily defended stronghold carrying only a small pea shooter but every time he manages to liberate a decent weapon from the hopelessly incompetent bad guys he throws it away and, occasionally, picks up another pea shooter. What the f…?
Then we have the fairly ridiculous big fight at the end where the bad guy runs around in his underwear. That was just embarrassing.
Maybe I could have swallowed the underwear thing if it was not for the fact that Lieam Neeson suddenly lost all kind of professionalism. Apart from the pea shooter syndrome mentioned before he just gets himself wacked by this maniac until, in the last minute, he miraculously recovers and gets the upper hand. There were a few minor glimpses of intelligence in the whole scene but they were never really exploited.
On the whole, if would say this was a fairly decent and enjoyable action movie but I was expecting more from it. If the last third of the movie would have matched the first two thirds then my rating would have been higher. Maybe Liam Neeson is not a big enough star, although I like him a lot, to pick his roles like he wants to but I would say that he should indeed be a bit more picky and read the scripts before signing on.
It was a good movie overall, but generally just more of the same. This guy has made a lot of enemies, after killing so many people in the other movies.
OK, I´m a bit biased ´cause I´m a Neeson fan but this was actually quite good. Better than the second but doesn´t reach the first. I like that it´s not all out over the top action. This is more reminiscent of action movies of the 80s or maybe 90s. I like that.
Maybe not as good as the previous movies, but still very enjoyable.
Pretty good story, I would say better than the second movie. All three movies thus far have been great, and you have to take each one for what they offer in the story line. In my opinion, this third take in the series is of the same quality as the last two. So if you enjoyed them, you are sure to enjoy this one as well.
ok movie, 6 stars out of 10
