Holy shit. It's absolutely off the rails and just batshit insane. There aren't enough words to explain how batshit insane it is. I am not exaggerating. It's deeply comical and incoherent. All the characters are over the top and fun to watch. There's a genuine manic energy that reminds me a lot of TCM2 but with the unpleasantness of TCM1. I can't say that I recommend it, but I think it's the most interesting sequel or remake so far.

An absolute train wreck. Impossible to salvage, no survivors.

Poorly crafted and idiotic, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation is crazy personified. After a group of students coming back from their high school prom break down on the back roads of Texas they fall into the trap of a group of psychopathic killers. Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey lead the cast and give decent performances, but the rest of the cast is just terrible. And, once again the series sacrifices scares for the crazy and bizarre. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation is an atrocious film that has no point.

Good lord! What a hot mess... The director's cut, plus time away from it has not helped this thing at all. It's a farce; one would think that they were just going for complete satire this time around, but that satire does not work here and is just all around unpleasant. Between the non-stop screaming and flailing about by all parties involved and the lame soundtrack, this is one you probably want to avoid. Bonus points for Zellweger actually making a likeable and strong final girl, and Matthew McConaughey for being soo batshit crazy he's kind of entertaining. This is a complete trainwreck.

creepy, wierd and yet not a horror or TCM film.

That was an incredibly pleasant surprise. I cannot for the life of me understand the hatred for this one.

Surprisingly good considering it's a sequel. I think the addition of stars Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey made it slightly better. Basically, they are milking the Texas Chainsaw series, but this is one of the better ones.
