The Aviator 2004

Incredibly accurate portrayal of Howard Hughes and the events in his life in a compelling way. As usual, DiCaprio's acting is well done. He carefully explores the character of Howard Hughes and provides insight into the man.

Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic. Really does a great job with not only the cocky Howard Hughes but also the illness he has too. Cate Blanchett and John C. Reilly are both really good too, I wish she had more screen time. The movie is really long but never felt like it, unlike some other Scorsese movies. Some of the CGI planes have not aged well but for the most part it looks pretty good.

A good biopic

Really good film with amazing performances by DiCaprio, Blanchett and Beckinsale. Also great cinematography but this is expected of a movie directed by Martin Scorsese.

Probably DiCaprio and Scorsese’s best team up, on paper I wouldn’t give a shit about this and the running time is off putting but it flies by. I am going to tell my kids this is Oppenheimer

I'd seen snippets of the famous senate hearings speech by Howard IRL on newsreels, and thought it brilliantly played by DiCaprio. Rest of the movie ain't bad either. One usually can't go wrong with this director either.

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio team up for the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator. The film follows the rise and personal struggles of notorious playboy Howard Hughes from his early days in Hollywood filming the infamous Hell’s Angels to his buyout and launch of TWA as a leading international airline. The plot lacks a traditional structure and instead tries to give an overall sense of Hughes’ life. However, the pacing is poor and kills the film’s momentum. Still, the all-star cast, which includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale, and Alec Baldwin, delivers some incredibly charismatic performances. While it has some production issues, overall The Aviator is a fascinating tale of drive and ambition.

I was captured from the first second until the last, unable to take my eyes off the screen for a moment. An amazing blend of the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. What makes it special is that they're both lived and portrayed at the same time. From one extreme to the next, this movie takes you on a personal journey which I feel most would be able to relate to in some way or another. The emotions portrayed by Leonardo are so raw and touching it feels like you're in that movie, you're in that world. Some of, if not his best acting. The casting was brilliant, all seeming to work brilliantly together. Almost too fantastic to believe, Scorsese has created a wonderful picture that proves non-fiction can be all the more imaginative than fiction. The film flowed and the film flew. An absolutely fantastic film! 'The way of the future'

I would have counted this as a great film and given it an 8 - it's interesting, compelling and the acting is amazing, but it was really long and felt dragging at times. I realise they wanted to show his entire journey, but perhaps it in this would have been better to have a single focus, instead of trying to compress everything in one movie.

Great representation of Howard Hughes and the time period but the swearing was totally unnecessary.
