The Boat That Rocked 2009

Not great by any critical standards, but if you love music and Rock'n'Roll you'll love this movie, no doubt. It doesn't have a lot going for it but it successfully encompasses the joy of music, and all that comes with it.

Oh how I wanted to love this movie. I am generally a fan of Richard Curtis' work and I love the cast. Why the hell is this movie more than two hours? They partied a lot. We get it. People loved rock and roll - got that too. Ugh.... such a waste. I could watch Nighy and Hoffman in just about anything.... they were completely wasted in this film.

truly one of my favorite movies to watch when there is nothing else to watch or have on in the background or just rewatching it because,

it's a very fun film, fantastic soundtrack and the cast is superb.

I didn't expect to like it that much, but it just got better and better, maybe I liked it this much because my expectations were low but nevertheless a beautiful movie for music lovers.

When the credits rolled and Duffy started singing I immediately recognized her voice and wondered where she went after her album Rockferry:thinking: Turns out her second album flopped and she's on musical hiatus since 2011 or so.. With a voice like that it really is a shame. I hope we hear from her again at some point in the future.

I only rate this with a 7/10 because of Philip Seymour Hoffman. This man was too good for an average movie.

Can't believe this has such a high rating. Bloody awful.
