The Bourne Legacy 2012

"Bourne Legacy" continues the story but from the other side, now a new character Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) is thrown into the mix. "Bourne Legacy" is a very entertaining film in its own, but if its compared to previous Bourne films, "Legacy" will fall short. Renner does a great job in this film by bringing a more up tempo character but the story is just not too strong to be a serious sequel to the Bourne films..still a very good film with great action scenes and nice locations.

Much better than it had any right to be thanks in part to its two lead actors (Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz), who work acting miracles with a poor script.

The first 30 minutes I'm thinking boy everyone has this wrong. Then it loses steam and I'm out. Okay movie.

This is definitely not a legacy. Poor imitation of the original trilogy.

Don't understand why people didn't like the movie. It's as good as the rest of this franchise. It also has a great twist. I guess people didn't like that the main character was replaced.

I liked it; I admit to being confused in the beginning and thinking they had replaced Matt Damon with Jeremy Renner. It took awhile (for me) to figure out that Renner's character is not Jason Bourne being played by a different actor, but a completely different character. Like some have mentioned in other comments, if you watch this as a standalone, it's a good movie. It's a bit of a stretch, however, to try tying this one in to with the other Bourne movies. Way too many gaps, not enough backstory to fill in the blanks, etc. As an action movie, though, it definitely proves to be a very watchable movie.

I was kind of disappointed with this film. It seemed like to me they substituted action scenes for more dialogue. I am though a fan of Renner and love most of the movies he has been in; he is definitely making his way to become a super action star. With that said his Aaron Cross is no Jason Bourne and because of this I felt the film was missing something great. You really can't do a Bourne film without Damon's Jason Bourne in it, it just isn't the same. While the action was geared down in favor for the story, I also felt the plot line was a little weak as well and wasn't compelling as the original trilogy.

I liked how this movie tied into the Bourne universe. How the events in Bourne ultimatum had repercussions, how there were hearings.... And then it just stopped. What is the outcome of the hearings? Byers doesn't seem to be the type to let something slide, so were they trying to set up a new series of movies?

That's the part of the movie, that didn't deliver for me. Otherwise I considered it pretty solid. I can't say it was lacking in action scenes. And I wouldn't say it was dialogue heavy. What are people expecting these days?!

I've always preferred this to the first three Bourne films. None of the films follow the storylines of the books very well, so why penalize this one for adding new material? Especially since the new material is both interesting and thrilling. I had hoped that they would turn this into the start of a new Bourne Universe, but I don't think the newest Bourne film really expands this sufficiently.

Pretty disappointed to be honest. It was a good movie but the one and pacing just didn't fit the exciting Bourne formula.

This is a typical Bource film but... without anything that made the Bourne Trilogy a good series of Movies.

I loved the first 3 Bourne movies, so I was inclined to see this new series. It wasn't bad, the action was great in some parts; the plot, while confusing at first, made sense later and was intriguing; the acting was believable. But it just wasn't the same Bourne. Still a good watch though.

What's that got anything to do with Bourne, I have no idea - besides project names and occasional Bourne's face on newscasts, even the main character's names is Aaron Cross, for Christsakes

"Then it fell apart..." In an attempt to revive the Bourne series the mantle is passed to a new character in The Bourne Legacy. In the wake of Jason Bourne's escapades the military burns its own super spy program, but one spy is able to escape and goes on the run. Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, and Edward Norton form a solid cast and give strong performances. However, the directing is remarkably poor; it lacks focus and it isn’t able to maintain the suspense and intensity needed for an action thriller. Additionally, the writing is especially weak and inconstant, creating a convoluted plot that's hard to get invested in. The Bourne Legacy is a senseless and underwhelming sequel that delivers on the action, but that's all it does.

I've started this movie at least 4 times I think before once actually finishing it. I loved the Bourne series and I was so looking forward to this movie. But when I wanted to watch it I think I was let down by the fact that this movie had nothing to do with Bourne (except for the scenes with that cast and the mentioning of programs). It's a nice movie about Aaron cross tho. With some semi relevant scenes about the Bourne series. But like I explained my mom: it's like watching Harry Potter without actually seeing/telling the story of Harry Potter... Why would you name it Harry Potter? This movie does have some Bourne like elements like the motorcycle chase at the end. A lot of action movies have chases but these are in my opinion at least pretty good. My mom didn't like the open ending but I liked it and I thought it was also Bourne (but maybe that was just te music). For a loose movie I would probably rate it 7.5 because I did like it, but because it is a Bourne without Jason Bourne and the Bourne-factor, it's just a 7.

The Bourne Legacy is a decent addition to the Bourne series, but it falls short in comparison to its predecessors. Jeremy Renner's performance as Aaron Cross is solid, but it lacks the depth and intensity that Matt Damon brought to the role of Jason Bourne. The action sequences are still thrilling, but they lack the kinetic energy and ingenuity that made the original trilogy so iconic. Overall, The Bourne Legacy is an enjoyable movie, but it's not on the same level as the rest of the series.

Not terrible but I probably would think kinder of it if 1) they'd followed it up with a sequel detailing the further adventures of Renner and Weisz or 2) they had removed all connections to the Bourne franchise.

Essentially runs into the same problem The X-Files had. The more they expand the story (and thus the conspiracy) the less I start to care about it. It doesn't help that the villains eventually cross the line from morally corrupt to stupidly evil.

A decent time waster that leaves you wanting more but not in a good way.

"You were given a Ferrari and your people treated it like a lawnmower."

This movie gets more hate than it deserves. I like that it is happening at the same time as Bourne Ultimatum, and I like that it is something different and not about Jason Bourne. They at least tried.

The usual Bourne movie just without Jason Bourne or Matt Damon. The movie is decent but just copied the homework of the previous movies.

The Bourne Legacy works, but has a few things working against it. The story is not as engaging, and has some severe pacing problems. The actors do a well enough job, but even though Jeremy Renner does a good job as our main protagonist, there's something missing. I don't remember feeling like that the first time I saw this, so it might be because I watched them all back to back.

Anyway...The Bourne Legacy are by no means a dud, but it could have been better. And for those of you that wonder, there is little to no shaky cam in this one...and thank God for that.

6.5/10 - A Bourne movie without Jason Bourne? :o I most certainly didn't see that one coming but it ended with the correct song so it's still a Bourne movie xD

Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye <3) was a welcomed surprise though :)

Unfortunately the story didn't make much sense from the beginning and that didn't really change. Not sure what they're trying to achieve with this movie but I didn't get it. It's not like the Bourne movies ever had a good story but so far it was at least easy to follow along. On this one I was pretty confused for the first 30 minutes or so.

Anyway, the performance of Aaron Cross and Dr. Marta Shearing seemed nice so that compensates a bit for the story. At least "Bourne Legacy" is still a fitting name.

The Bourne Legacy aka Hawkeye: The Beginning. Now Aaron could get an invitation to the Avengers. What a crossover that would be. ;)

This is what you get if your main character is not on the movie. This is the story from other side.

many don't like this movie because it doesn't have bourne in it....but they have to understand it's not about bourne ...it's about all the hidden black operations which are related to treadstone...it is not action packed like the previous films of this franchise..it is dialogue heavy..and sometimes slow paced..lack of action was kinda let down though...i don't hate this movie, but i don't love it either....sorry for that...

Smooth detail and swift plot switching

Image and sound 4.75 / 5. Better than I remembered, but not reach the level of the other 3

This movie was okay but the plot was definitely not as great as the original Bourne movies. I liked how the Bourne name was pretty relevant and how the events in Ultimatum had an effect on Cross. I would have liked more scenes with Edward Norton's character and seeing him really step up as the antagonist but his role towards the end was seemingly flat. Additionally, there weren't as many good fight scenes that made the original Bourne trilogy so great. Instead, there's one particularly long chase scene that just dragged on to a disappointing conclusion.

Not as good as the original trilogy but still quite enjoyable, The Bourne Legacy gets a clear recommendation from me to watch it!

I liked it. Fast and a lot of action.

worst bourne ever. The end was a miss. definitly lost my 1.5 hours of free time :(

Without the crappy ending it could been a nice 7.

This was a strong movie which I enjoyed though I would not call it great or exceptional in any way. I especially was surprised with the last quarter of the movie full of so much action to only end so open ended (the two on a boat to who knows where). Again, I did not like how the film ended. It's like they took you down the rapids having so much fun only to jettison you off the falls with nothing to hold on to. Here's hoping that they will do a better job with the next one.

very poor, don't waste your time on this

I think this wasn't a typical Bourne movie. It seemed more closer to the reality than the previous ones. Just like in the new James Bond movies Aaron Cross isn't the super agent who cannot be hurt and is bullet proof.

I hope there will be another Bourne movie.

This was awesome! Better than 007.
