this movie is scarier than I remember.

"The Cable Guy" was absolutely not what I expected. You can use the term dark comedy to describe this but I didn't think a lot of it was that funny. Instead it was a creepy look at a stalker who morphs from friendless loner to possibly criminally disturbed and back to an even more sympathetic loner. He starts as a bother to Matthew Broderick's character and ends up being dangerously life threatening. Carrey is probably as good here as he's been in anything else. He plays his "Chip" lightly annoying at first and by the final act I was convinced he was a serial killer or something. There wasn't a lot that stood out in Ben Stiller's direction and the story was nothing amazing but this was a different application of Carrey's manic flailing delivery.

A very dark and disturbing film when you burrow right down into it, especially at the end of the film you really do feel for the cable guy.

I Never got to see it when it came out, I recall the posters at one of my Blockbusters was very prominent at the time. it's worth a watch, especially if you like Jim Carrey's flavor of humor.

Also features a few familiar young faces such as Jack Black and Owen Wilson to boot. Its kind of surreal having a cable guy talking about coax cables at one point, or the over the top hi-fi you see in the film, I can see that being a bit hard to resonate with today's audiences in sch a situation, but growing up around that time you kinda get it a bit more.

Jim Carrey is great in this one as the crazy cable guy. Lots of great supporting cast as well. I enjoy this one every time I watch it.

When it comes to Jim Carrey's movies, this is quite underrated. Jim Carrey still has the classic loveable enthusiasm he always has but with a twist that brings us whole different perspective onto him. This dark comedy mixes many quotable lines and a creepy psychopath personality and Jim Carrey's amazing talent. As a fan of Jim Carrey and Thriller i find this to be one of his best without a doubt. The confused/scared Steven (Matthew Broderick) is a perfect combination as it represents our feelings throughout watching this film. Also combined with Costars Jack black, Leslie Man, Ben Stiller, George Segal, Diane Baker and Andy Dick, you will find that this movie is just full of awesome entertainment, a memorable storyline that is tied in with a fitting soundtrack. This movie is about friendship, love and the trust that bind those together. Do not always trust low scores. I hope you enjoy this magnificent film as i have so many times.

A satirical comedy from director Ben Stiller, The Cable Guy has a bit of trouble combining the laughs with the social commentary. The story follows Steven Kovacs, who’s recently separated from his girlfriend and is befriended by his local cable guy, Chip; but things take a dark turn when Chip shows an unhealthy obsession with Steven. Starring Jim Carrey, Matthew Broderick, and Leslie Mann, the film has a solid cast that has a good amount of comedic talent (plus cameos from Stiller and alumni from is television series). But there are some script issues, such as an awkwardly forced subplot about a Hollywood murder trial, and the commentary about television addiction feels heavy handed and separate from the main story arc. Yet despite a little unevenness, The Cable Guy is an entertaining film that has its moments.
