Chris Pine is good, movie is bad.
After watching "All the Old Knives", I was all right with watching another Chris Pine movie. This one, however, was lacking in a few basic things that help the reader give a shit about the proceedings. First of all, motives are not clear. "I'm broke" is a crummy reason to do what he did. "I'm greedy" is a crummy reason for one military man to kill another. Sometimes, there's just no reason for some of the decisions that are made. I didn't care much about Chris Pine's family, and only a little about his friend. The virus subplot was completely underdone. I was just disappointed in this movie from middle to end.
Mostly fairly boring and predictable. I was hoping for much better :-(
This movie had so much potential. The editing was absolutely awful, you'd see a scene with Chris on a roof going to a ladder and the next cut is him standing on the ground in front of his wife. The cuts were so badly placed in so many areas.
Not really sure where the story was going or the point of the movie. Seemed like some writers got drunk & wrote a half assed script then somehow convinced some investors and conned few actors. I guess you can make anything these days and call it a movie.
Don’t waste your time watching this movie.
How do you make police officers with pistols take out half your team? You’re suppose to be elite solders no?
Movie was very slow, thing they could have at least done one job clean first before taking out the whole squad on the first mission so at least we know the family would be even more set if he dies. You already made us get invested in the family so.
So they just so happen to have a blood bag and what they need for a transfusion? Lol yea ok. Ive never seen that in a go bag
He just pops out the water without being cautious.
So much stuff dont make any sense. How can you ride your bike towards him and make him hit you with a brick lol you didn’t see that coming?
Why wouldn’t they surround the building. What tactics are these soldiers using? All seem like amateurs
Again why would you advance on someone that has a rifle and you have a pistol. You stay put until your other man can get inside :man_facepalming_tone3: guess they had to kill the guy somehow
Wtf was that ending!! Bullshit
sucks ass , don't waste your time
This wasn't a bad movie, but very formulaic for this genre. I like Chris Pine in a lot of things he does, but equally don't like him in just as many. He isn't a great actor and I always watch him thinking "James T. Kirk". Overall this is a very predictable plot line but it's an entertaining action flick, nothing more and nothing less.
confusing. it’s a good movie but it almost doesn’t make sense, and why the cliff hanger weird ending?
Excellent movie, no breathing for beginning to end, just watch it. Reminds me of Jason Bourne.
:heart:x7
This is not great but at least a decent action/thriller. There were a couple of major issues I had with it - 1) why exactly did Rusty send his men to kill Chris Pine's character? 2) did his friend Mike turn on him or was he duped as he said "I thought you were dead" and 3) if Rusty and his men were all killed then why didn't/couldnt James Harper go home again?
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
People are overly critical of this. Pine did a very good job. The script and plot is quite generic, but Foster and Pine are always good together. I liked it. Perhaps in part because the reviews made me expect a 2/10 flick.
6.6 for me.
It is a movie with a lot of action scenes and violence. It is okay to watch it at home, but in cinema I would think I wasted my money a bit. ... so don't expect too much, because there are also some plot holes in it.
Not the worst movie released in 2022. Must watch.
this would have been a more or less decent thriller, if it weren't for one extremely confusing major plot point:
why were they trying to kill him in the first place? i spent the entire second half of the movie expecting this to be explained, but it never was!
did i miss something? wtf was that all about?
Starts slow to build the characters, picks up in the middle with action but for some reason it just fell short for me. I found myself fast forwarding scenes near the end just to get to the credits.
6.5 slow start but then got better
Predictable. No plot twist that you didn't see coming from miles away. Just another action movie like many, many others.
On the plus side : no woke b.s. for once!
What a boring movie! I stopped before 20 minutes.
too slow and short film
It is entertaining, although it does not explain why they want to kill him. Jack Bauer would have gone for Rusty
Once you get past the stomach-churning America is so great etc it turns into a good movie. Tons of action that isn't over the top suspend logic which was nice. How he managed to travel around is the big question that never gets answered.
Worth watching
8.5/10
Good enough but not great. Definitely not worth wasting money on at the theatre.
I like Pine, he was decent enough in this. I like Ben Foster but he was wasted in this. I also like Sutherland but he was also wasted in this.
It was never really made clear what the plot was, what they were doing, why anything was happening.
Not a complete waste of time but not really a worthy way to spend time.
Following the trend of many movies. Lead actor is great, movie though overall is mediocre at best. No clear reasoning to why they really wanted to kill him. It’s implied because of loose ends but he didn’t know why they killed the doctor until he got the tablet. It was just confusing in that aspect. Action scenes felt strange and rushed.
Standard thriller with very few surprises.
I'm ambivalent about this. I am not at all a fan these American defenders of the faith films. I didn't realize that this was a film about a private contractor who'd just gotten out of the service. If I had, I wouldn't have watched it. My feeling is that these films consistently misrepresent these characters in order to make them palatable for the general public.
The cast was strong, but the script was incredibly lacking. There were a number of things that were just off about this; things that weren't necessarily that simple to put a finger on but nonetheless, still missing the mark. I felt that the plot was weak and contrived, and if anyone bothered to apply any critical thinking skills whatsoever, it was likely implausible. We're supposed to believe that a hardcore serviceman kills a scientist who was working on an antiviral vaccine that had the potential to save millions, and he's upset by this? It seems much more likely that he'd be in the anti-vaxx camp and would believe that he'd done the world a service. Regardless, this plot point hardly made much of a difference in the film, so it seemed a rather odd choice to include this particular dilemma.
The ending of the film also bore little relation to what seemed to be the purpose of Chris Pine's character's pursuit throughout the film. In fact, I felt that there were a number of areas throughout the film that were rather inexplicable. The only reason that I gave this film a 6/10 rating was b/c of the casting. If this were some random cast, this probably would've rated a 4/10.
A bit slow, takes a lot of time to get going, but quite ok in the end.
very basic and predictable story line. not worthy of your time
It's entertaining, but starts better than it ends.
Wow. That was dull. Trailer looked exciting, full of action in that classic conspiracy genre. This ended up being turgid with talent wasted. Big fan of Ben Foster and he was underused. What action was stupid and over too quickly. Such wasted potential. See why this was dumped without any fanfare onto streaming. Not even worth a straight to video… dull.

I genuinely enjoyed this one, it sort of reminded me of the movie shooter. It had its dull moments but then the action scenes had you on the edge of your seat. It’s worth an watch if you like bank heist/robbery movies.
