The Count of Monte-Cristo 1975

A great adaptation of Dumas' work, even though done in the 1970s, that didn't shy away from showing the emptiness of vengeance. Even though Edmund Dantes succeeds at ruining those who wronged him, even though he is now fantastically wealthy, he still doesn't have that which he sought. This one is much more faithful to the spirit of the book than the more Hollywood-ized version with Jim Cavaziel and Guy Pearce from the late 1990's.
