The Doll Squad 1973

Like a mediocre game of Pictionary: amateurish and drawn out.

This adorably 70s no-budget exploitation flick (and inspiration for both Charlie's Angels and the style of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad in Kill Bill) about a team of female agents out to save the world a la James Blond is puerile entertainment yet lacks the charm of many of its contemporaries.

I've had a lot of luck with my Vinegar Syndrome blind buys, but I'm sorry to say that The Doll Squad is not one of them.

The acting was what you might expect, with the leads the only ones that show any sort of talent, and the action was as stiff as only a 70s B-film can manage. The dialogue was stilted and unimaginative with a severe lack of good one-liners, and some parts were downright cringeworthy. None of these things are usually a dealbreaker for me, but it broke the one rule I have for films such as this. It wasn't funny...

It's not that The Doll Squad is an offensively bad film. It's just that I was bored throughout...
