The Good Girl 2002

Great movie. This was the breakout role for Jennifer Aniston where, for the first time, she got to show her acting chops and prove that she could be more than just 'Rachel' from Friends. From her opening monologue, you realise that she is doing something special, and she puts in a wonderfully controlled performance.

Other standouts are early roles from Jake Gyllenhaal as a troubled young man who thinks he's Holden Caulfield and Zooey Deschanel as a retail store employee with an acerbic wit.

"I saw in your eyes that you hate the world. I hate it, too."

When I first watched this as a teen, I thought it was boring. On my rewatch I realize it was a look at life that my younger self just didn't understand. It is slow, depressing and a reality to so many people. Great performances all around!

I cannot believe this film has a 58% rating. The movie is a gem. The casting is absolute genius. I love it.

Had been putting this one off for a while and not sure what to say Jennifer Anniston does really good but this wasn’t really what I was expecting. It always weird when the protagonist has an affair because it gives you mixed emotions. This movie is a lot darker than I was expecting and majority of the characters here are severely damaged and have plenty of issues. This movie being dark isn’t an issue and has plenty of layers which can be a good thing. I feel this movie is good not great, but also a hidden film that doesn’t get the light of day but at the same time I get why.

An unbelievable character in Jennifer Aniston's skin.
