It's fun. It's well paced. I had a blast.
All the negative reviews I see on RT complain about the lack of depth, which ok, it's not a super deep film, but it doesn't have to be nor is there really the time without substantially lengthening the film or taking away from the action. Personally I think they're probably just a little butt hurt at the jabs it takes at the left or not enough at the right. This is a fun, violent comedy that just roasts everyone. There is some depth in that it points out flaws in everyone, but it's mostly just a non-objective romp.
Indeed, the downfall of the antagonists was the same cause of their entire motivation for the Hunt, targeting individuals based on inaccurate information and justifying their actions by a sense of moral superiority.
The thing about THE HUNT is that is an absolute blast of a horror comedy. Demented, violent and a bit times shocking; this film is an example of the twisted mind of Hollywood's writters (Damon Lindelof has even more twisted tricks up his sleeve) and a highly political satire of violence, racism, social superiority, guns and nasty comments on social media. The plot catches you straight from the beginning and twists the knife (see what I did there?) into a non stop frenzy of comical violence and a hero in Betty Gilpin's insane performance.
I knew this film was going to be something different but I didn’t read anything about the film before I started watching it. And this is my absolute recommendation to anybody who is thinking of watching this film. Don’t read anything about it. Just watch it. It is different, obscure, unusual, political, weird and overall awesome!
Would I watch it again? Yes! Would I make my friends watch it? Absolutely!

This was a LOT of fun to watch. Lots of fun action, blood and violence. A lot of it played for humor. I was very surprised when they started killing off all the better known actors one after the other in the first act. And then Betty Gilpin comes in and gives a great performance as a female Rambo without the anger and more annoyed at the inconvenience of the situation. I'm not sure I agree with the reason they pulled the movie from its original distribution date as it really had nothing to do with the shootings that occurred at the time - on the other hand, maybe I'm just seriously jaded.
Now this was a pleasant surprise. I loved the effective balance of gruesome horror and laugh-out-loud comedy. The writing was incredibly fresh and smart with so many twists and turns that i never saw coming. My only problem was the pacing of the film, which made it feel like there where only two acts instead of three. But aside from that it's a solid flick that would be great to watch with a group of friends.
If you've ever spectated or took part in political discussion on the internet, this movie will crack you up. It has good amount of violence and it's done tastefully. Don't go by its IMDB rating. I mean... 6.5? come onnnnnn.. Crystal rules
okay so let's start by warning people first off no kids second off this is a very political story it's very very good very in your face very loud even kinda funny I highly recommend it for the ones of you who aren't too uptight to handle it very bloody as well so much to enjoy though one of the most amazing movies of the year and certainly of the new decade I highly recommend it

I didn’t expect heart throbs Emma Roberts and Justin Hartley to demise so promptly, and it was great to see Ethan Suplee looking so trim and not such a fat bastard. But still, what a weird movie.

It feels like it is trying to be edgy just for the sake of being edgy. I have no idea what Betty Gilpin was doing and the faces she was making were sometimes horrifying. There were some decent kills.

The subject of manhunts is obviously making a comeback in the field of films. The advertisement for the 2020 edition was interesting and so I watched a few clips on YouTube in the afternoon. Later I bought the film and watched it in its entirety. And what can I say? The movie is stupid. And good. The Hunt is brutal and senseless. It is funny and socio-critical at the same time. It's kind of everything and nothing. And then there is the leading actress Betty Gilpin, whom I didn't know until now. I had to laugh several times during the film. In the run-up to the film, some comments about the film said that her performance was worthy of an Oscar. Afterwards I now understand the irony in these words. Betty can make a face... I have never seen anything like that before. From one scene to the next she looks more stupid, although she can be a beautiful woman. But maybe this very change is Oscar-worthy. The rest of the crew, with the exception of Hilary Swank, is just cannon meat. But that doesn't matter. It doesn't matter anyway, because after watching it I'm just as smart as before. The Hunt is just a fun movie with some really cool scenes. You can watch it, you can like it, but you don't have to. In my case, it slipped just past the rating "I like very much".

It's a little confusing at the begging of the movie, and there is a lot happening.
I found no reason to have "big" celebrities in the film because they don't make it long, the fight scenes are great however I find it hard to believe that someone with so many injuries can keep up.
Overall the movie it's great, you can have a good time watching it, you are not gonna get bored.
Surprisingly good film. Dont judge by first 10 minutes. Great to see Hillary in a film again. Betty Gilpin did a great job. Why does Kevin from this is us only make short appearances and not lead roles.

WHO IS THIS MAIN ACTRESS?! What a Queen. This movie would’ve been entirely different if it weren’t for her. She carried the entire thing. Super badass.
This film gave me all the ‘Kill Bill’ vibes that I’ve needed for far too long. Definitely some Tarantino-esque moments throughout all this.
I could’ve done without the political stuff, but that beginning - before our Queen enters - was kinda genius.
This movie was hyped like crazy. I saw the trailers and said, "It's another retread of THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME. Really?" Well, it is....but a damn good one. I've liked a lot of TMDG flicks like Predator, Hard Target...the list goes on...and on...and on. This one was really well made, Betty Gilpin (from GLOW) was a fantastic in it as was pretty well every actor. Fast paced and didn't get in its own way. 8/10
As a non-American, I found it funny how the Republicans and Democrats' stereotypes were shown in this movie. Weirdly enough, I only recognized one celeb in this movie. lol. That might be a sign of my age. Funny? yes. Horror? nope, it's just gory. But not even THAT gory. aight? Just don't think too much of the plot, it sucks, just enjoy the killing spree.
It was full of action, fast-paced and utterly hilarious The Emma Roberts trick-twist was the most hilarious of them all. I laughed like crazy. Such movies are a guilty pleasure of mine but this one was actually good. 10/10

The Hunt started off really strong, I went in blind and couldn't guess who the main character would be. In the end they stuck with the right one! Betty Gilpin carries this film.
The premise is simple yet brutal but something left me wondering if there wasn't more they could do. I liked the humor, the pace, the violence but for some reason something was missing, even though we got everyone's dream match at the end between The Next Karate Kid and Liberty Bell. Still something was missing.
But for the 80 minutes it takes for you to watch this film, it is well worth your time. Even though Glenn Howerton wasn't really acting like Glenn Howerton. He wouldn't have been killed off so easily. Because how can you kill one who reigns supreme? HOW CAN YOU KILL A GOLDEN GOD? He would've used the D.E.N.N.I.S. System on Crystal. He would've manipulated her for sure.
Pretty good Liam Neeson movie, btw Liam Neeson wasn't available so the role was given to Betty Gilpin!
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The action was good. I loved that they killed off people so quickly. There were literally two times my jaw dropped because of who , and how, they knocked off so early.
Loved it! Surprisingly refreshing. Love the twists and the irony. Very cleverly and funnily leads you to believe it’s taking you down the plot path of practically every other film, but on numerous occasions it slaps you in the face and screams “got you”...well it did for me.
Excellent film, great action, brilliant use of dark humour in the appropriate places and great performances all round.

This is an incredible movie, fun, filled with action and enough gore to make you almost jump from your seat.
I see some people saying the movie lacks of depth, but for me it was totally the opposite. The movie focuses on the action but it allows you to get as deep as you want, you only need to read between the lines. Overall, 10/10.
Painfully bad and obviously politically motivated. This is a great movie to challenge your friends to see who can last the longest but trust me nobody will make it to the end.
Loved this, great fun. Betty Gilpin definitely carried the last 75% of the film - and kicked ass while looking great.
The writing in this movie was so refreshing to see. The pace kept you moving forward without hesitation of wanting to look back. Loved every minute of it.
Side note: I had no idea who wrote this until the end credits - and i was not surprised to see the creative artists Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof had created this movie.

This a a really fun movie. It has some hilarious moments, and some great fight scenes. Betty Gilpin was fantastic and needs to get some major props for her performance.
This movie is a satire, it is not supposed to be taken seriously. There are jokes at the expense of all sides of the political spectrum. If you're easily offended, or can't laugh when a joke is made at yours, and other's expense, then this is not the movie for you.
However, I found it to be highly enjoyable. The production value is great. The writing is smart. And, the action scenes are done really well, no stitching together 30 cuts in 2 seconds so you have no idea what's happening.
If you want to see a funny, brutal, satire, I recommend this.

Well, this is fucking stupid.
Netflix synopsis says "In this dark horror satire, wealthy elites hunt innocent ordinary citizens for sport"
It's not all that dark, honestly. There's some graphic death sequences but it's not dark. It's definitely not a horror film. There's nothing scary here, no thriller aspect, and the fights are simplistic and cliche.
I'm not convinced it's satire, either. Especially not of "both sides" as the film's people try to claim. It's not "skewering" "both" sides in any way at all.
The Good Ol' Boy side seem pretty normal and put together. There's a bit of stereotyping in a couple instances, but even the podcaster is more hero than caricature.
The Liberal Elites team is all that seems to be satirized at all.
The only real option I see, is that the film makers are mocking the VIEWERS.
I only kept watching to the end to see if they eventually pull out of the tailspin, but no... they crash. No survivors. (Metaphorically)
There were some decent acting performances, but I think they've all been better in better productions.
This movie is so underrated, largely due to when it was released. It was originally the last movie I saw in theaters before the Covid shutdown, and I absolutely loved it. It’s balls to the wall, deceptive, gory, and overall just a super memorable movie experience. It has been long enough since I last watched that most of it hit in an impactful way once again. Easy to recommend to horror fans!

After watching MRS DAVIS, I took a look at Betty Gilpin’s filmography and discovered I had given this film of hers an 8 out of 10 but had not written a review, so I’ve rewatched it, to find out why I gave it rewatchable status. Probably not surprisingly, I discovered the same twisted genius, Damon Lindelof, had written both of these projects. (I’ll be watching for his work as well). Here is my review:
This film is social commentary, from beginning to end. The premise is a horrifying game that pits the Rich Elite against Far Left Conspiracists, with homicidal stakes. Warning: The violence is graphic, and is probably what garnered it a Horror classification, but the tone is all black humour. The cast is great and Gilpin kills the performance (pun intended) and the ultimate showdown is worthy of the casting. The commentary is not subtle or deep. It is clearly stated. No great thought needed or hidden agenda here. I stand by my rating of 8 (clever) out of 10. [Action Thriller Horror].
A good action thriller film that is balanced intelligently with it's politics, since politics is one of the central themes in the film.
The story of hunting people is not new, but this movie left a good impression.

Definitely a hidden gem, a fantastic combination of splatter horror with original laugh out loud moments. I mean, the one-lines during fights or during conversations were superb. So enjoyable movie and highly entertaining.
Yes it is not "an original movie made from Netflix" so that is why it is unknown but that is also why you must see it

That was great, glad it popped up on my recommended list. It was like Hunger Games meets Saw meets Squid Game. Great sound design too, really enhanced the gore!

Sadly, no one in the film recognizes the nature of the conflict as class warfare. I feel sorry for the proles in the US.
Plot: 6/10...super ridiculous, but super fun
Dialogue: 7/10...love the use of tropes, both liberal and conservative
Performances: 7/10...nobody was supposed to be serious and for the most part the characters hit their outrageous marks. Gilpin was phenomenal with facial expressions and delivery
Misc.: 7/10...actually some pretty good special effects and fight scenes.
Overall: 7/10...intended to be exactly what it was. Absurd and an absolute blast.
I did not expect to like this movie as much as I did and I had high expectations with it being a Blumhouse production. This was a wild ride. Killing of Emma Roberts in what was still pretty much the opening shot of the movie, unexpected, all for those unexpected moves! Plus, almost all the characters you follow in the beginning end up dead without you even bonding with them at all and then it feels like the people who are hunting are the 'good guys'? Because now you learn that these hunted people are not very nice people... and then it shifts again when you go along for the ride with Crystal, who is totally badass. Watching her beat this game is fantastic and the ending was so satisfying!
This movie was the right combination of gore and comedy. Proving once again that the 'horror'-comedy genre can work! I kinda wish I could see this movie for the first time again.
I should have read the synposis. Nothing at all like I expected. It's violent, recycled, modern, cynical, political, action, comedy.
And if you switch off your brain, this was such a great way to spend 90 minutes!

The good: This movie shows that no matter what side you are on politically, we all can be idiots and do horrible things. The action was pretty good and gruesome.

There's no boring bits, it just plays out quick, info is dropped on you, not forced.
Really wanna see a few prequels of crystal going through Iraq, chewing tobacco and popping off baddies whilst on some secret missions.
Two thirds of the movie is the set up. If you've lived 2020 and are tired of woke friends and "patriots", then you'll get the satire. But, the whole point of the movie is explained in it's very entertaining climax. Hell, just watch the news then watch the ending of this movie and you'll be just as satisfied as watching the whole movie.

Funny horror comedy about rich people declaring open season on poop people once a year by hunting them. Funny and fast was. Pleasure to watch and let go for a bit. A great watch

Honnestly, this was weirdly perhaps my most entertaining 'action' (don't think it's scary horor, seriously TWD is more horor than this...) film in a long time. It's not a good film but somehow it wasn't actually boring untill the last 20minutes, they actually made enough comedy between the cringy bits to make it okay. There is no deaph to it and it'll never win any awards but if you are bored it's good enough. So, despite having to rate it 6, it's honneslty a very strong 6. The acting was pretty great from Betty Gilpin!

Organized human hunting in a different way. Why are people kidnapped and hunted here? Why this group of people? All questions that will be answered soon, slightly surprising but then also quickly sucked out.
Exaggerated left-wing liberals hunt exaggerated conspiracy theorists & (as the best comparison) Trump supporters. The plot fluctuates between amusing and over-the-top. The start after the kidnapped wake up is probably the funniest scene in the whole movie. If you thought you were just shown the main actors, they immediately getting killed in funny gory ways to jump on to the next one - with the same result. That was really good! The only thing that matches this level of humor are the awkward faces Betty Gilpin is showing is from time to time.
Afterwards it remains interesting, but never again gets again this funny kind of slapstick brutality, despite enough escalating violence.In the end, it becomes absurd and culminates in the duel between the protagonist and the chief hunter, without it becoming too exciting for the outcome. The choreography of the fight is still wonderful to look at as one or the other seems to get overwhelmed now.
The overall experience is a successful new take in the genre. No horror film, no pure slapstick humor. Rather a pastiche on how half of the Americans see the other half - and vice versa. 7/10

Spoilers: A group of strangers are hunted over their political views. Which is the real reason it was delayed. Not due to the shootings going on.
The film tries to fool you who the hero will be. In the beginning. Yet, the poster spoils that. The recognizable actors die way too quick as shockers. I wasn’t shocked since the trailer actually shows one of them killed.
The Hunt is a goofy and violent film with not much of a plot. Except that we have to choose who’s side we are on. If you are Democrat, do you side with them or Republicans they are hunting.
The Hunt came prematurely with a bang in the first 10 minutes, but at least the cuddles after were pleasant. (Though the right wing pillow talk kinda weirded me out, tbh.)

A strong first half gives way to a weakened second. It's still worth hunting down, but after all the hype, I was a little disappointed at the final result.
Simply put: This movie only has half baked action and no storyline at all. By the way It’s neither horror (no suspense at all) nor comedy at all (not funny).

Feels more like a student film in terms of acting, directing, and writing.
It could’ve been really fun, if the writing wasn’t so extremely on the nose.
But then again, subtlety isn’t exactly America’s strongest suit, especially in terms of politics.
The first hour or so was really good and I could watch that part over and over again. After the bunker area, it's like they ran out of money or lost the writers that were working on the last part of the script. Do yourself a favor and just turn it off after the bunker area.
Ok, another thing, I love the shot of Betty Gilpin holding the shotgun. To me, that was the reason to see the movie right there.
For anyone wondering where this movie is... Universal Pictures pulled the release, which was scheduled to come out September 27, 2019. In a statement on the movie’s website, the studio said that this is not “the right time” for the film to be released, especially considering the recent mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.
