All the press surrounding the movie certainly drives peoples expectations. I had none so it feels to me like just another comedy by those guys (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBuqhbY-K4U)...

The Interview is not for everyone. It's loud, crass, and unapologetically offensive. But it's also undeniably bold, hilarious in its own twisted way, and surprisingly touching at its core.

sooo insanely stupid but i can't help to like it

loading replies

Yes, it's silly, juvenile and offensive. Love it!

i can't watch it on popcorn time.

Liking Rogen and Franco and being interested in the Korean Peninsula situation for years now made me enjoy this movie. Interesting for me and with a few laughs.
For the average person, this movie will be mediocre at best.

loading replies

One of the worst movies I have seen!! Utter crap. 1/10.

Well there is no wonder Sony staged a false flag cyber attach to bring attention to this movie or people wouldn't even both with it - the movie is terrible. Poor acting and script. The best part of the movie is the closing animated cartoonish titles. Movie is a waste of time. And Sony will only be able to use this marketing ploy once and they have blown it on a crap movie, people will be more aware next time they try a stunt like this... The boy that cried wolf anyone?

The Duo James Franco and Seth Rogen is the best ! Ridiculously Good :D

loading replies

This is a really dumb movie. Funny as hell. Enjoyable for when you really don't want to think

loading replies

A new era in marketing. How to make a mediocre film looking like a masterpiece? 9 stars on imdb must be a joke.

loading replies

"They hate us because they anus" - LMAO
It was entertaining.

loading replies

Ridiculously funny I cannot stop laughing

loading replies

This movie is absolutely hilarious all the way through and I am not a fan of Seth Rogen, but he never misses a beat in this film for me and it makes me wanna check out more of his comedies again. It's not an Oscar-worthy film by any means, but if you want something to make you laugh then definitely check it out.

Just remember it is quite rude, so maybe don't let the kids watch this one ;)

loading replies

Very hilarious all throughout the film the jokes are class what more would you want.

loading replies

really funny and i absolutely love James Franco and Seth Rogen together

loading replies

For the critics who are disappointed they didn't get their "Shawshank". This is a stoner movie you uptight jackasses. :joy:

"They hate us cause they ain't us!" :middle_finger_tone2:

This was definitely an enjoyable film, but it is mainly a slapstick piece with little depth. While the film definitely did have character development, it could have been deeper and less surface level. Overall however, the movie accomplished it’s goal of being humorous and enjoyable to watch.

loading replies

Another kind of a movie, laugh your ass off

loading replies

I really liked it. It was funny. The only thing is it was slightly predictable, but it was still worth watching.

loading replies

This was unexpectedly fun!
I only watched it because of James Franco and I didn't expect to enjoy it, but it turned out to be hilarious.

loading replies

I've started watching this film before but was majorly distracted which I thought might be down to the fact it was a boring film. But I set myself up in the dark, loaded with food and drink, ready to give it another shot. And I was absolutely delighted! Unexpectedly heart-warming, relatable, down-right silly yet not infantile, I really really enjoyed this film. So much so that I'm looking to give more Rogen and Franco creations another chance.

!!!SPOILERS!!!

That was hilarious the start was great from second 1, that little girl singing haha. The interview with Eminem, how did he agree to do that?!

The bromance between Dave and Kim was so funny, playing basketbal together, driving a tank

When the interview started and the finger biting started I almost shit in my pants like Kim did one of the funniest movies ever for me. Hahaha

loading replies

I almost pooped myself too it was that flippin funny!!!

loading replies

Oh god. Such a crap. I didn't get it why netflix told me 99% match. I now question myself a lot about my tastes. Thanks, no thanks.

The Interview is an idiotic and vulgar comedy that’s unworthy of the controversy surrounding it. The plot follows an entertainment talk show host who gets an interview with the North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, and is then enlisted by the CIA to help assassinate Kim. Starring James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Lizzy Caplan, the cast has a good amount of comedic talent. But the jokes are incredible juvenile and aren’t that funny. Still, some of the silliness works and delivers a few laughs. While it’s entertaining to a point, The Interview is an uneven film that awkwardly tries to shoehorn in political satire.

loading replies

was expecting something hilarious but was totally disappointed. the movie is not the worst but come on!!

loading replies

Worst piece of shit I've ever seen...

loading replies

I was on the edge whole time to stop watching this movie, but when the part with eating fingers, shooting in the butt and running over people with the tank came, I immidiately exited movie and deleted it forever. This thing ruined whole movie

loading replies

More of a disappointment than anything approaching a good movie, I'm still glad that I got a chance to watch it in light of the hack attack forever attached to the release, and the fact that stars Seth Rogen and James Franco are still able to experiment with different goofy roles. That being said, I had to turn it off about halfway through. Pretty bad.

loading replies

what have i wasted my time on? this was terrible, i have not laughed once, i knew i wouldn't like it from the first 10 mins but kept watching it thought i might be wrong. i gotta say James Franco and Seth Rogen together are no good at comedy movies, This Is The End and now this? they are all the worst movies i have ever seen. overall, i'd give it 2/10 only because that scene where they all were crying, and the fact James Franco's vision (already forgot what his character name is) came true.

Better than expected.

I was expecting a terrible movie, which fame was solely due to the Sony Pictures hack, but it ended up surprising me for the good.

The humor was definitely more intelligent than your average comedy, and the plot wasn't terrible.

The worst, for me, was the actor picked to impersonate Kim Jong-un. Had he been more carefully picked the movie could have been considered even good.

I had a good laugh, and may consider rewatching it in the future.

In my humble opinion that movie benefited from the hype, the movie is okay and passable in my book, it did not even manage to make me crack a smile.. I believe that the publicity and the commotion surrounded that movie is what made it a hit on-line as everyone wanted to see what the fuss was all about..

Critical response
The Interview received mixed reviews from critics making it another time where the critics and I agree.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 51% approval rating, based on 84 reviews, with an average rating of 5.8/10. The site's consensus reads: "Unfortunately overshadowed by controversy (and under-screened as a result).
On Metacritic, the film has a score of 52 out of 100 based on 31 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".

I was not impressed although the movie starred two of my favourite actors.. I got to say that it barely received a pass in my book..
Watch it if you are curious but do not expect to be WoWed..
Moving on..

Pretty stupid & funny at times but they crossed a line that shouldn't have been crossed just for the sake of a movie.

While it was not as good as "This is the end" and there was no way it could live up to all the controversy around it, it was still fucking hilarious! As you would expect from a Seth Rogan movie there is a lot of profanity and lots of sexual jokes, but it was all worth it to see Kim Jong Un singing Katy Perry's "Firework" and the cameos by Eminem and Rob Lowe!

It was exactly what I had anticipated.

Sony your movie is bad and you should feel bad about it. On the other hand lets give them an Oscar for marketing

loading replies

Some good jokes and an interest (and different) story. A nice comedy for all that matter. Doesn't worth the confusion it created though. North Korea created a huge marketing for an average movie. It would be better if they pretend that it never existed...

loading replies

Pretty decent movie overall. The scene where they get briefed on their mission at the CIA office really made me laugh. "You honeydickin'?"

loading replies

Utter crap.

"Leaked Emails Suggest US State Department Approved of The Interview’s Ending.

Imagine how the U.S. and its CIA would respond if a major movie studio anywhere in the world were to make a film centered around the assassination of a sitting U.S. President: especially if a foreign government was involved, pushing for just such an assassination."

it is dumb, full of butthole gags 1/10

Free PR for this movie.... and it wasn't even that great. Way to go Kim Jong-un, Sony and the rest of the media for hyping up the movie

Sooooo happy they actually released this, it was hilarious!

Boring movie... anyway just give an Oscar to Sony's marketing team, good job guys !

loading replies

Utterly ridiculous decision for Sony to cancel this movie entirely. Mercia doesn't not negotiate with terrorists. A sad day for Hollywood and the movie industry in general. Hopefully this will see the light of day and we won't get bombed by North Korea.

loading replies

Hilarious from the start! So excited I got hold of this movie!

loading replies

Get a drink, grab a friend, watch the movie, and have a few laughs!

loading replies

If North-Korea didn't blow the whole situation around this movie way out of proportions, this would have been a movie that had its funny moments, but afterwards would be easy to forget.

But now? I feel almost obligated to watch the movie, and even pay for it!

So, Kim Jung un, well done on taking the Streisand effect to whole new level, well done....

Also i couldn't resist: North-Korea tries to censor Hollywood? Washington wont stand for that! http://i.imgur.com/Hb2NmOK.jpg

I'm going to try and give this movie a fair and impartial review. Let's start with the plot. The idea behind an entertainment show host going over to North Korea to interview Kim Jung-Un, could look decent on paper. Unfortunately, the writers didn't even try to flesh out a coherent story. It was obviously set up to deliver a slew of one-liners, most of which weren't even worth laughing at. The ending is predictable thanks to a fairly easy to catch (or should I say hammered into your head) foreshadow early in the movie. The performances of James Franco and Seth Rogan were mediocre at best. Randall Park, who played Kim Jung-Un was more annoying than funny. There was very little music of note in the movie, aside from the bit the beginning with the Korean girl and Katy Perry's "Fireworks", which bordered on agitating for the entire movie. The only reason this movie became relevant was due to the hack at Sony. Maybe see it once just so you know what everyone is talking about (or was talking about). Other than that this one is better left forgotten in time.
